@3:50 In the U.S. Marine Corps we called sleeping out in the open using only a sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and ponch a “stargazer rack” (“rack” = bed in Marine-speak). A good tent is awesome, but so is the ability to just open your eyes and immediately see the night sky and what’s around you.
Wonderful review of the seasons and adventures! I also like autumn best; I like the chill in the air, the restful sleep, the melancholy and peacefulness.

I would of living a life like this be so very close to the nature, bird sounds, river, snow and whatever the nature brings. However I always wonder how can you sleep in snow without a tent and fire and still be safe thru the night ! It's amazing! I know you have the sleeping bag but still...

Nice summary, with some good gear tips, thanks. An a alternative to down is synthetic... might be heavier, but has some advantages. 1/5 of the price, can handle wet and dry fairly quickly. Can be used as a clothes drier ( place wet clothes under bag). Hence is used by army, and also in wetter cold areas ( alaska, pacific NW usa) . One can use a small msr bladder full of hot water as a hot water bottle.

Thats a totally insane type of lockdown. .. for a disease as deadly as the common flu. Dumb bureaucrats mixed with control freaks.
