Stunning roads Ian and your bike just looks better and better every time I see it. I will definitely we visiting this part of the NW on my Interceptor during the summer and next year when I get a Classic 350. Keep up the great work👍
Beautiful vistas, Ian, and a road to which Clementine is perfectly suited; I'm envious! I thought perhaps the hawk at 19:37 looked more like a kestrel; hard to tell in the video, of course. Re the road repairs, it's sheer laziness not to level the surface afterwards. Here in Oz, particularly in Victoria or southern NSW, we have roads that have to cope with ice/snow and temperatures up into the mid-high 40'sC, so yes, the local UK authorities could well profit from talking to their counterparts here. Not that they will, of course!
I agree, quite possibly a Kestrel, too small to be anything else. I know I sound like a broken record, but we feel blessed to live in such a beautiful area. I am really pleased that I get to share it with so many people around the world. As for the state of the roads, I would love to know what the councils criteria is for resurfacing. We went to Kendal in the van today, and drove along a section which has been resurfaced by spraying tar, and laying chippings. The thing is, it didn’t need doing. We drive on that section a lot, and there was nothing wrong with it, yet other area’s are abysmal, with craters and ruts. Drives me bloody bonkers 🙄. Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I agree, you're fortunate to live where you do, though I don't envy your winters! Re council resurfacing criteria, perhaps look at which councillors/MP's use that section of road regularly. In 1970 Melbourne, the SE Freeway from the City ended at Toorak Road. Why? Because the then Premier, Sir Henry Bolte lived there.
Beautiful countryside and lovely clip, thanks Ian. I’m coming down from the borders that way for a holiday in a couple of months so thinking I might bring my Hunter if the forecast is reasonable.
Hi Ian, regarding the cyclists hearing you coming, when I was sat in the dealership having my classic for the first service, the mechanic set off on mine for the rest run, even with the door and windows closed my bike still sounded fabulous. Riding around the Lakes yesterday evening it just sounded fantastic reverberating off the hills 👍🏻
Luved this Ian; what a brilliant ride; my kinda roads. Clem sounded awesome too. I know what you mean about performance. I ride a lot two up. When Ann and I were in the Lakes last week we were in 1st gear on Honister pass; tis what it is. Catching up on videos again, been really busy and or just plain knackered. Ride safe bud.
Thanks Neil. There are lots of videos out to catch up on at the moment. You should have taken the big Zed up Honister, wouldn’t have been in first on that 😈😂
Interesting point there Ian 2 prime examples are Michael Dunlop and Peter Hickman they are phenomenal riders at the TT and roads in general and yet on a short circuit they are fast but not faster than their compatriots , I often wonder why ? I know Michael doesn't do much short circuit but whenever he has he doesn't win as far as I know . Awesome views on an awesome day and not to much clutter on the roads either you hit the sweet spot there ,😉👌👍
Timing is everything, mid week mornings are the best times. Hickman truly is a master of his art, quick on the track, quicker on the roads. Dunlop and Harrison, are nowhere on the track, as I mentioned, it must just be the mentality. Cheers
The sound and audio quality are spot on Ian and stunning scenery. I have just fitted the Royal Enfield bar end mirrors from Hitchcocks and am stunned at how clear they are and cleans up the cockpit, also seems more planted in the bends, possibly due to the extra bar end weights used when fitting the mirrors. I did not think I would like bar end mirrors but have to say I am over the moon with them. 😊
I actually like bar ends, but would go for the old Halcyon design. The only issue is, I rely on the mirror’s to ensure my camera is still recording 🤔, so out of the question for me. Cheers
Stunning scenery Ian that is a part of the world I've never really heard about will have to have a closer look at it I think. I had the same thoughts about TAYM buying Paddington he seemed to have developed a real liking for that bike but judging from his latest mutter it looks like Paddington has found a good home.
I admit that I need to do more in the area, it is rather stunning. Yes, it's a shame TAYM didn't buy Paddington, but the new owner seems a nice chap. Cheers
Stunning ride. I envy you. Where I Iive, just north of Brum, I can't find any lanes where I am not chased by cars pushing me up the backside or trying to overtake me in a dangerous manner! We have lots of rat runs and its driving me potty! am still running in my classic 350, but I'm not slow most of the time, and I'm up 40+ mph! People are so impatient and it seems to be getting worse round here. As for potholes, don't get me on that subject! Great video, thanks.👍 - May trailer my 350 to the Yorkshire Dales soon just to get some proper riding in! 😅
Sounds like a plan, though there are also idiots up here. I just wave them past, hard enough to concentrate on what's in front without worrying about the knobs behind as well. Cheers
Definitely Alex. I had someone comment on my Instagram short, asking why I was slowing down going into a bend. What can’t be seen is the poor and rutted repair which starts on the apex. We just can’t take any risks anymore, perhaps that’s the long term plan.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield The Dutch are well known for their love of bicycles but they also have great pride in their roads (and they are as busy as ours). We need to learn a lesson or two from them.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Aye, the lad that has the German Jobbies channel, went back to Glasgow and really summed up the state of the UK, really depressing. I will come down to your part of the world one day, buy you lunch and we can bitch till the sun goes down 🤣🤣🤣
You do know that it’s the law that you have to show your passport at the top of Jubilee Tower but I must say that it was very professional the way you only filmed it in your visor excellent Ian 👍
Hi Ian, Cracking couple of videos now i can watch them again back to back, Ian have you adjusted your rear shocks yet I am saying that because i thought mine were a little to fond of bottoming out so i took them up 2 steps & to be honest it has made a big difference. I weigh about Twelve & Half stone, All the best Baz
Actually no, haven’t touched them. Fine for me as is, though I might try them with a bit more preload 👍 Hope you are enjoying getting out and about on yours.
Funny I always seem to ride North but like you say it’s stunning no matter which way you ride it 😊 I noticed that the butty Van wasn’t there again 😢 Ian you always look like your riding the TT we must have a race you start at Jubilee Tower and I’ll start at Puddle Ducks and by the time I have finished my tea and cake you should have arrived 😃
Very nice.. ! Thats my favourite colour scheme.. Shes stunning... Out of interest what camera are you rolling with.. 🤔 Nice crisp quality... Cheers 🍻 *Crap Game* 🎉
Thank you. I use the DJI Osmo Action 3 nowadays. I did this video on my attempting to set up. I now have the audio volume set at -6, to avoid audio distortion at higher speeds, or windy conditions, then increase volume in editing, to get the results you hear in my vids. th-cam.com/video/DRyU78s705k/w-d-xo.html
@@ianhughesroyalenfield That be a dream camera.. I tried mounting my Xiaomi redmi note 8 pro on my helmet paired with a $5 mic. It was an abortion. Hi Mick, it’s stunning. Thanks for joining me 😎
What a stunning road, through the trees with the stream running alongside was lovely 👌🏻
Yes, beautiful. Cheers
I enjoyed watching your ride. It's one of my favourites.
That’s good to know, thank you.
It does sound good.
I hate that shiny stuff with no stones it gets slippery & smooth & black ice in winter.
Totally agree RR.
A great ride! 👍
