Best Work Bags: Aer Flight Pack 2 Review

  • Review of the Aer Flight Pack 2 which is a great follow up to the original flight pack and features a more streamlined look and some nice additions such as an external water bottle pocket, more organizational options, and a very comfortable side handle. Although some of the pockets can be tricky to use when holding the bag sideways, this is a very versatile and stylish option for work or day to day use especially if you prefer to have the flexibility to switch between using a backpack, shoulder bag or briefcase.
    What do you guys think of the updates on the Flight Pack 2? With these types of bags do you carry it in all three modes or is there just one that typically becomes your default?

    Thanks for this video, I bought it because of your review! I’m also wanting those knack cubes too !

    This was a super thorough review. I appreciated you testing the bag with packing cubes as that was my biggest question. I'm looking for a bag that can handle a 48-hour work trip w/ laptop.

      Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! For minimal packers I think it can be possible to use this for a quick trip for sure. If you feel like you need a little more space some other good options to check out might the the Tortuga Setout laptop backpack and the opposethis invisible carry on. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag!:)

    great review!
    I've been eyeing this bag for some time now but one thing that makes me hesitant to get it is the backpack strap buckle system. Do you feel like the weight of the entire bag (with all of the contents inside) will put too much strain on those Duraflex d-rings over time? I'm worried that one day one of those rings will give out!
    Also @Falcon Time brings up a good point. How many liters exactly is this bag?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and good questions! From my time using it so far, I haven't felt like there is any risk of the d-rings giving out as they feel really high quality and with all the bags I have used from Aer they have held up really well so far. On top of that due to the size of the bag I don't think it could get too heavy so that should also help its longevity. With regards to the size, I believe Falcon Time reached out directly to Aer and they explained the sizing a little more and Falcon time also used the measurements listed on the site to determine that the bag was about 18L. I did the same with my bag and I think 18L is definitely closer to its size than the 14L listed on Aer's site. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

    I'm confused about the size of this bag. The AER website says 14l. You say ~20 liters.

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you for watching and good question! In general the volume listed on many of the backpack sites is always pretty inconsistent. Although it says 14L on Aer's site, on Pack Hacker and Chase Reeves review I believe they said around 21l as well and based on the amount of stuff I was able to fit I would also say it is around the 20L mark, but 14l seems pretty small. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

      @@dannypacks In the meantime, I emailed AER. Here is their response: "While The Flight Pack 2 has remained unchanged in size since launch, we did recently update our volume numbers to standardize it across all of our bags. It is 14L when packed out normally (not overstuffed). The dimensions are a more consistent measure of size, so I would use that to evaluate size". I had also done the math using the dimensions AER shows (18"x12"x5", or, more precisely, 46cmx30.5x13) and just calculating it as a rectangular box, which gives 18 liters.

      @@JumpingWatermelons Thank you for reaching out to them and I think 18L makes more sense. Based on the items I was able to fit it had felt like it could be around 20, but I think an 18l bag would have still been able to hold the same items.

    Thanks for the tip about Timbuk2 bags...I really wanted a backpack that is USABLE as a messenger bag...not just wearable as one

    Thanks for the review, I’m considering this for airplane travel and keeping it under the seat. Do you think this is adequate, or is there another bag you recommend that has the laptop suspended off the ground?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for watching and good question! I think this is definitely a solid option that looks nice and has some nice organization and weather resistance! Another great option worth considering Is the mystery ranch 3 way expandable briefcase as it has the same ability to work as a briefcase shoulder bag or backpack, it has nice organizational options and it has a laptop compartment that is suspended. Hope that helps and please let me know if there are any questions I can help answer about the bags!:)

    I’m torn between aer flight pack 2 and aer day pack 2.
    Flight is slightly cheaper than Day from where I’m from.
    Which 1 would u recommend?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! If you have the option to get the flight pack 3 that’s probably the one i would lean towards as I prefer the aesthetic, but between the day pack 2 and the flight pack 2 I prefer the day pack as it has a better laptop compartment and more breathable harness

    Is this bag worth the extra money over the Aer daypack from the Work collection for someone who would not use the shoulder strap very often?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question and this is definitely a tough choice! I think it will depend on how much space you need (this bag will be able to hold a little bit more) and which look you prefer, if you like the look of the day pack and don't need as much space I think it may be better to save a little bit =)

  • @0oTCYSo0
    @0oTCYSo0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Compare to the Day Pack, does the D-rings system of the Flight Pack makes it less comfortable to carry, and the kinda-overkill organization makes it more difficult to carry clothings? I don't really need it as a briefcase but just dig the look of the Flight Pack more. Thanks in advance

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching and good question! Overall the day pack is significantly more comfortable in my opinion as the straps are more padded and the back panel on this one doesn’t provide much cushion or ventilation. The d rings haven’t really been an issue for me tho. As for the organization I think it does a good job of staying out of the way if you prefer not to use it. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags!:)

    I think the side handles ruined the look for me, plus I don't need to use it as a briefcase or messenger bag. Otherwise it looks like a great minimal backpack.
    I ended up getting the Bellroy Classic 2 backpack.

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and that’s great you went with the Bellroy that’s a great bag! This one is definitely versatile, but I agree if you don’t need to use it as a briefcase or a shoulder bag the handles can look a little funky:)

    Hello, 1 question, why you don’t review osprey backpacks?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and good question! I definitely have plans to review a few in the future but there’s just so many different bags and gear I’ve wanted to take a look at that I haven’t had a chance to get to them haha :)

    Yo mate nice video but this feels veeeery hectic as you don't ever lower your voice like one does at the end of a sentence. It feels like there wasn't a single period in your script and makes me feel kind of uneasy, to be honest. So maybe do that every once in a while. Also roll some b-roll sometime and just don't say anything for a few seconds. People need time to process the information you just said.
