Wanted to pop in a comment and thank you so much for such great content. I've been a luthier for 25 years and I've learned so many little tricks from your techniques. Sometimes as a luthier, you get caught up in your own approach, so watching other's is so helpful to expand on ideas. Really, just as helpful as watching another great guitars jam on a track you thought you had perfected. Fixing guitars is just as creative sometimes as playing them. I particularly loved your video fixing the Japanese Strat that had taken a dive. Just such aces content! A million thanks.
Nice one mate. I love the thick marking tape trick! The only thing I'd add, is that the bridge should be wiped with acetone right be for applying any waterbased glue, especially if it's rosewood. But I guess that's more to do with preping than actually gluing.
Thanks very much, Beau! This was super informative and a great overview of your well-thought-out and meticulous process for gluing on an acoustic guitar bridge with hot hide glue. The bridge on my last guitar, which was glued on with Titebond Original and a vacuum clamp, has SLOWLY crept away from the guitar top on the back edge, to the extent that I must now remove and reglue it. I assume hot hide glue, which has essentially zero "creep" would be ideal for this application. Thank you again for all the really good info. Cheers!
Hi Ken. Sorry to hear about your bridge- it happens to the best so don’t worry too much. Titebond should be enough so check everything is fitting well. A 100% footprint is best. Remove all glue residue and reglue. Hide glue is best but you will have to buy a glue pot etc. I’d only get into that if your make or repair guitars often., unless you got a spare $150
Awesome production quality and content, thank you for making these. Thank you too for the Looth Group tute! I'm still bumbling about the place trying to figure out how to use it effectively. Since watching your "7 Must-Know Tips for Working with Hot Hide Glue" video, I've used the tape blocks for all manner of locating tasks.
Howdy! Thanks for watching. The only problem with the looth group is every time I get onto the loothalong I hear about an amazing technique and have to buy a new tool to do it! Hahahhaha- actually Doug proper told me about the heat gun I show in this video.
Yo thanks for the luthier group tip! Didn’t know anything like that existed, just saw on the map that nobody from my country is on there so I might be the first!
HHG is reversible and new glue sticks easy to the old glue. Any other glue you have to remove ALL the old Glue before regluing it. It also has excellent shear strength.

Thank you so much for saying that and I agree watching others and being open to learning new things is the way to live :)
you have shown making the blocking out of blocks of masking tape before and it is extremely helpful piece of advice which I thank you for.
Thanks. This was actually a demo for the looth group but thought I’d post it here as well

Thanks. Sometimes I’ll
Wipe cocobolo with acetone but I’ve not found the need for that with anything else
Very cool, calm and collected
Thanks

A positively eye opening technique Beau ! I really appreciate you sharing this one.

Bravo Mastery...😊😊😊
Thanks
I'm wondering why the group is Loot Group and not Luth Group? Is hide or fish glue used so you can remove the bridge with steam etc?

Is any other type of glue viable? Is tightbond an option?
@@noamhemsky yep- I use hide glue, titebond or epoxy depending on the job.
HHG for you and me! 🎉
