Huge Help!!! This helped me track down parts MUCH cheaper than from Summit or the stealership. For anybody looking for the GM OEM Part #'s for the 5th Gen (mine is a 2013) ZL1 here are the OEM part #'s I was able to track down and search them via Amazon, eBay, etc. to find the lowest price. Pads - Front Pair - 171-1040 Pads - Rear Pair - 171-0882 Rotor - Front-Right - 177-1146 Rotor - Front-Left - 177-1145 Rotor - Rear x2 - 177-1051
Great video, really helped me change the brakes on my 18 after a trackday. I would just offer that there is no reason to remove the 13mm bridge bolt if you're changing rotors. Also the rotors don't warp, they get deposits from the pads. Both on my C5 Z06 and on my GTI I've been able to "fix" warped rotors by installing more aggressive pads that cleaned the deposits off the rotors.
Do these rotors and pads fit a ZL1 that isn’t a 1LE? I just would like to double check check this because they have different wheel sizes between the ZL1 & the ZL1 1LE . Much thanks to these very well made videos . They are done extremely well and edited incredibly.
Interesting you went from slotted to blanks. I tend to stick to brembo zimmermann or trw blanks. Was tempted to go drilled and slotted but prone to cracking concerns I just didn't want to keep replacing so soon.
Kinda off topic, but do you still have the video of the installation of the roll cage you had in your Focus RS? Or am I thinking of someone else. Maybe it was toysRS (I think that was his TH-cam channel name.)
I use to have one, but ended up taking it down a while back, if there are any specific questions regarding the install I'd be happy to answer them the best that I can
Right on. I was tossing around the idea of putting one in my ST once I go big turbo and coilovers. Just for a fun mild track build. Always loved the stripped out cage look. Haha
@@jessebudelman Got it, it's well built and they use them at the FP racing schools, the install itself is relatively straight forward, if you get it, let me know if I can help!
Yes, sometimes I do, the SS 1LE was the perfect all around package for daily driving, commuting, & track use. With the ZL1 1LE it only now comes out on specific occasions such as mountain drives & track days. I still primarily recommend everyone that wants 1 car that does it all towards the SS 1LE
Be carful everyone, the ZL1 1LE has different sizes for copper free vs copper. The copper free are bigger and required in California but many will order the copper free to get the bigger setup.
Not true. ZL1 and the 1LE option have the exact same brake setup. When you select the copper free option (which is available for both ZL1 and 1LE option), that's when the rotors and pads are different. So you have to know if you car had the copper free option from the factory no matter if you have a ZL1 or ZL1 1LE. Thanks California and Washington. They are bigger rotors (390mm vs 398mm) and pads are shaped different.
Thanks God i see you bro . I have a ZL1 and i had a accident and its total lost . But if you LOVE CAMAROS . you can undertand me . And sure . I bought it back from the insurance 😅
GM pads and rotors are the best for these car's. Car is killer!!!
EBC pads are on another level. Much better than anything out there.
@@GETLITUP69 Where is your proof to back this claim?
The solid rear rotors are very heavy at 23lbs. each. The aftermarket offers lighter two-piece versions.

Where’d you get the lift from? I need that. Great video.
Good video. I had my rotors turned within GM spec. $80 USD all 4 rotors.

What brake pads brand would you recommend for 6 gen to fix that issue???
@@Fbody_123 I've had good luck with carbotech on my Z06 and firebird. I swapped to DS2500 on my ZL1 but haven't tracked it with them yet.

Tips for getting the bottom bolt?
These don't look cross drilled/vented like the originals you removed? ... sorry if i missed something.

Where can I find that Jack stand you used in the beginning of the video if you don’t mind me asking?
Great content as usual Mac; I always learn something new! 👍
Thanks a ton, glad it came out alright! I try to keep it as concise as I can
To replace rear pads and rotors do you put ebrake in service mode to retract pistons?
How much was ur lift
Are the rear break pads 4 piston or 6 piston?
Do you recall the torque specs for the bolts you removed?
Will the brake pads fit if I have a Camaro 1ss 2023 with upgraded brakes got 6 piston in front and 4 piston at the rear helppppppp
Will these break pads work for my 2023 zle model ???
What kind of numatic lift is that
I want that lift. Do you have a link for it?
No electronic parking brake?
do you have a video of how/where you lift the camaro with quick jack?
Not yet, but will be doing a quick jack review soon & will have a part where I show the set up; the standard 5000 fits under both pinch weld points
Dude you are my hero. Thank you so much.
Do you have to replace the rotors everytime you replace the brake pads? If not then how often should I replace the rotors?
every 2nd break pad change and or if they have wave feeling on them
Can I put the zl1 1le brakes on my ss 1le if I change the pads and rotors
No. Calipers are different.
Question @mac - How many miles on your ZL1 before you needed to do this type of maintenance?
You’ll wear the oem pads out in maybe 2-3 track days. The rotors will take dozens.
My boy thank you bro you saved a lot of money.
Thank you brother! Fantastic content please keep it going! Be safe and God Bless!
Thanks, always appreciated! you too!
what happened to the blue ss 1le?
Parted the car out & traded it in last November on the ZL1 1LE, I do miss that car from time to time for sure
Marc what’s the manufacturer of the hydraulic lift ? Thx
its quickjack i think its QuickJack 5000TL
for these rotors, is there a left and right side or I just purchase the 2 same rotors?
Same.

What's the torque spec on the 18mm bolts on the front caliper?
I second this question. Lol. Or is it just the Good n Tight method
So what kind of break pads are they??? I thought he was gonna say which ones they are
Nvm scratch this comment
Same brake setup as a c7 z06 and v3 right?
Same size but no.
Are the brakes different on the ZLE compared to a ZL1 ?
no, they are the same just different color powdercoat
Are the front brake calipers 6 piston? And are your brakes ABS ?
Yes and of course.
@@neckofthewoods24 thanks for letting me know.
