    8 years has gone by since this video was made. Its 1/11/2024 and this video helped so much!!!

    Thanks very much for the video! I was able to do this "on the ground" without much issue. One note: the bolts for the lower bracket go back on flipped around for my kit and probably all the others. The spring will be in the way to try and get the bolts in from the inside. They are inserted from the inside originally to protect the rubber air bags (in my opinion) and there is no need to do this with the springs as there is adequate clearance.

    Hey Norlin, I still can't reply to your comments directly for some reason but to answer your question I just turned off the air ride switch in the trunk. you still get a message on the dash saying air ride disabled every time you start the car which is a little annoying but I got used to pushing the rest button when I start the car for long trips or just ignoring the message for short trips. Glad you got yours done and glad my video helped!

      The Switch is In Trunk on The Right, for Lincoln Town Car, 1995!!! It says To Also Make Sure the Switch is Turned Off When Jacking the Car Up and Changing the Spare Tire, IT SAYS IT IN BIG BOLD BLACK LETTERS, IN THE TRUNK, ON THE RIGHT SIDE!!! WHO WOULD'VE DARN THOUGHT!!! I NEED TO LOOK HARD AROUND MY CAR TRUNK MORE OFTEN!!! ☝️
      I HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!! 💖💖💖

    What do you do to re-educate the car's diagnostic computer to not tell you to see to the air suspension? Nobody wants to see an error message every time they start the car.

    Had it done on my 97 towncar hope it holds up. I hav 110000 miles as of now. In last 6000 miles I've replaced intake manifold and thermostat radiator fluid spark plugs wires and fuel filter tires new battery and now air ride converted and front shocks I will be happy if I come back in 10000 miles and say its all good still

    • @dylincassidy1134
      @dylincassidy1134 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fernandogomez1156 it all depends on where you get the parts. You will always spend more at parts stores on things like the conversion kit but can find one online for cheaper but you get what you pay for. I've used springs off a 97 crown vic for 97 Lincoln JUST A TEMPORARY FIX would not expect them last too long but they do the job and are cheaper

    I don't know why I cant reply to your comment directly but yes they have been fine so far, no problems to speak of. My only complaint is i wish the springs were a little heavier duty because it does squat a little when you have passengers in the back and or something heavy in the trunk.

    This is the only video that shows the model and year close to mine, I have the 2002 continental, rear air ride is bad. We are converting to coil/strut and need to know if I have to purchase the kit that does all (4) or can I get by with just the rear. The front sits fine, and the entire system is non functioning at this point I believe.. I appreciate your video, thanks so much..

    • @henrycisneros7223
      @henrycisneros7223 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the 2002, there is no air components to the front of the vehicle. The 2 rear coils will work for your situation.

    I know this is over a year old, but is it possible to have a link to the product in the video? I've tried looking it up but I'm not sure which one it is. I don't know if just any conversion kit would work. I have a 2000 continental so it should be very similar

      @eacardoc1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +xS0N1Kx I honestly don't remember the seller I bought it from on Ebay. But yes I believe all of the continental coil spring conversion kits are very similar. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

    • @eacardoc1
      @eacardoc1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kev badger Thanks! No I didn't have to buy front struts but my 99 only had rear air suspension. you would only need the front strut conversion if you have front air springs....

    im talking about the lil plastic control arm that is right behind the bag and goes down to the frame

    • @eacardoc1
      @eacardoc1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Berdis Still trying to make sure we are talking about the same thing... does it have a rubber "accordion looking" boot around it? And wires going into the top of it? The only two things I can think of with a ball and socket in the rear is the ride height sensor I just described and the sway bar link which attach to the sway bar and then to the lower control arm....

    • @lt1analslutbestcocksucking558
      @lt1analslutbestcocksucking558 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there is a little ball mounted on the frame and then the plastic arm goes over top of that... Its only about 6-8 in long

    • @lt1analslutbestcocksucking558
      @lt1analslutbestcocksucking558 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might b sway bar link idk maybe im saying it wrong...

    • @lt1analslutbestcocksucking558
      @lt1analslutbestcocksucking558 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is there a way i can upload a pic to u sir?

    • @eacardoc1
      @eacardoc1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Berdis Sounds like you are taking about the sway bar link. Does it look like this? cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/9194a/products/332/images/841/P1010109__91541.1336585105.1280.1280.JPG?c=2 If so it is a sway bar/stabilizer link and it is broken. once they come apart they are no good anymore and need replaced..... actually they were probably bad for quite a while before it popped off.

  • @xS0N1Kx
    @xS0N1Kx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there anything you had to do with the front side? Because im looking online for the conversion kit and theres some kits that have springs for all four wheels. Idk if that is necessary or even worth it.

    • @eacardoc1
      @eacardoc1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is only necessary if your car has front air springs. Some continentals like my old 1995 came from the factory with air springs on both the front and rear so for that vehicle you would need a conversion kit for both front and rear. The 1999 continental in this video only came from the factory with rear air spring so you only need the rear conversion kit.

    • @xS0N1Kx
      @xS0N1Kx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +eacardoc1 alright so mine has springs on the front, no need for the front springs for now. One more question, for the back did you have to replace the shocks? There's some kits with it included, saying it makes the ride better. Is the ride good enough with the same shocks? And how are they holding up a year from then?

    • @xS0N1Kx
      @xS0N1Kx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can answer that, it would help a lot.

    • @eacardoc1
      @eacardoc1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +xS0N1Kx Sorry, I try my best to respond to messages but sometimes I miss a few. My continental rides ok without replacing the rear shocks but it is a little "soft" in the rear and maybe replacing the rear shocks would help that a bit. I don't think it's because of the conversion kit I think my shocks are just old and in need of replacing..... And yeah the kit has held up fine. I haven't had any issues with it since I installed it. The only complaint I have is I wish the springs were a little heavier. If you fill up the back seat with passengers or put anything heavy in the trunk it sits lower than I'd like in the rear. But maybe that's just because I was used to having the air ride that adjusted itself to compensate for carrying a load....

    • @xS0N1Kx
      @xS0N1Kx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +eacardoc1 i understand, I thought you missed it so I sent another message. And thank you so much, I think I have all the information I need now. I just hope a different brand will hold up just as well. Prime Choice doesn't have any more conversion kits for our continentals as far as I can tell. Thanks for all your time, I'll tell you how it turns out.
