    Hey Flynn, you are right, the Gluebot sucks. Here is something I have learned over time. As you said, keep the glue in the original container. The trick I learned is to store the bottle upside down. I drilled a hole that would allow the nozzle and the screw down to be recessed into a "holder" made to hold more than one bottle or even more than one shape of bottle. Even if you store a gallon jug, store it upside down. This will keep the glue from solidifying on top blocking the hole. Any solidifying will be on the bottom of the glue container away from the nozzle.

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      love this idea. I actually have a holder I made similar to what you are talking about by using a couple of forstner bits to drill out an upside down holder. I have also found that sticking the bottle in a dog hole works too. just have to make sure that bottle is clean before you put it in there! :). Thanks so much for watching Jeff!

    I purchased the Wixey drill press laser and found the same problems you uncovered. I am notorious at leaving battery powered devices powered on and almost always have to replace the batteries before the next use. You do a great job for most tool reviews so I'm. You have a great channel keep up the great work.!

    We made a small wooden sailboat five years ago, and we bought a large container of Titebond III. We refilled the glue bottle often and it worked like a charm. I use it often now for smaller projects and it still works well. There is some cleaning maintenance required, but I've had good luck with it and it's one of my useful tools.

    @GuillaumeDuteil1 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Thanks for doing so. Having a real life review is very valuable. I guess the natural conclusion is to not do reviews just after purchasing new tools to avoid recommending bad tools. Will you stop new tools reviews?

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh no, of course not. I am too much of a tool junkie to do that. I will do updates if I have issues. I looked at the Woodpeckers chamfer plane too. I didn't think I'd use it enough to justify it. I bought the Hongdui CR-MulTrim, which has round-over and chamfer blades. I think it's better than the one you have because it has carbide inserts, instead of steel cutters. The carbide inserts have a chamfer cutter on two sides and a round-over profile on the other two sides, giving four carbide cutters, of each profile.
    I don't know where to buy replacement cutters and I'll probably never need them. I haven't used the tool since I got it, perhaps a year ago. It's a beautiful hunk of aluminum and stainless but I'll likely never remember that I have it, if I ever need it. A trim router and bit is my go-to solution too.

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh nice! I'll have to take a look at that. Sounds like a better design. I think what you spoke of is the problem with mine as well. I never think of using mine either. Kind of sits in a drawer, and I go for more conventional ways of putting in a chamfer. Thanks so much for watching kwilliams!

    Well that was interesting, a few of your observations lined up with my concerns, particularly the folding level and the corner clamps. Still it was a fun video to start out my Saturday. Have a great weekend and thanks for the Crow Vid.

    • @kwilliams2239
      @kwilliams2239 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, the corner clamp sure looked suspect. I'm not a fan of any corner clamps but these looked really weak. Even if the springs stayed where they should, it didn't seem like there was anything keeping the corner square. A parallelogram or trapezoid wouldn't be apparent. It was a "pass" from me, the first time around.

    Good video. Pretty much all of it makes good sense.
    However, in my particular case I'm happy with my collapsible level. But that's because I will likely never use it for woodworking! The one I got is fairly accurate and since it will likely be used less than a dozen times per year for helping level my travel trailer. Given infrequent use it is likely to last me for years to come - and I'm not all that worried if it is a just a little off.
    But for woodworking? Not going to be used for that at all and I've no real disagreement.

    The only time I'd even think about putting glue in a different bottle is if I was using so much, I was buying the gallon jugs. The rest of the time, it's not worth the trouble.
    As for the rollers, I have some husky ones that I try to use with my planer for long boards. No matter what I do, they won't stay in the correct position and sink after a board or two.

    Not that this helps make the chamfer thing you bought any more worthwhile, but you can sharpen all those cutters on the flats. Agree with the above reference to the Hongdui version for chamfers/rounds, but it's not cheap. And FWIW, my Wixey drill press laser is still going strong after 3 years. I agree that not having auto turn-off is a problem, but nothing replacing the batteries didn't fix for me. Maybe I just jinxed it?

      @FlynndoggWoodwork  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Haha! I hope you didn't jinx it! I've been trying to find another one by another brand but no luck so far. Looks like wixey has a monopoly on the market! :(. I may end up with another one even though I'd like to try another brand. Best of luck to you smorgasbord!

    Only thing I have that you have on this video is the glue bot and I never use it for the same reasons. I love the original glue container with a holder from Rockler that mounts on a wall surface and holds the glue container upside down. Glue is always ready and no air can get in.

      You it's funny you mention that. It was another viewer's comment a few weeks ago that did buy the nailer and had the same expereince as me. Worked well at first and them used it on hardwood and it failed like mine. When I read their comment i thought it was worth making this video.

    🤔 maybe try putting some Saran Wrap and a rubber band over your GlueBot caps?
    I know you shouldn’t have to rig up a tool, but seals are bound to breakdown. Making Lemonade out of lemons is sometimes necessary. You already have 3 of them, so might as well try to make them work again.

    The goinmake tools I bought I'm pretty happy with so far especially the pocket hole jig. It's made with aluminium and not plastic being a machinist by trade steel always seems to last longer. And my luck if I drop it its surely going to break lol. Next one I want is the T square. Keep it up Dogg love your channel.

    Well, good sir. I have to agree with you on the glue bot. I got one when I first started woodworking. And the reason for that is I get my glue in gallon jugs. But after the failures of the glue bot, I went to amazon and got cheap condiment bottles. And I got 6 of them for under 20$. And I have only used 2. 1 for glue, and 1 for mineral oil for my cutting boards

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Excellent glad to hear I'm not the only one. I did the same thing with the condiment bottles. I kept on losing the caps though and the glue would dry up. Not the bottles fault but mine! :). Thanks so much for watching and sharing Joshua!

    Dogg man, you're eating humble pie because you have more tools than one man could ever use in his lifetime. Hopefully you can recuperate some of your expenditures at the recycling yard (or passing them on to some unsuspecting newbie woodworker). Woodpeckers...push ups. Well, our brother, new doesn't always mean better, but can be fun for awhile. We love the wry smile on your face with that level. What ever made you think that was a good idea? You may be able to clip a couple of coils off the end of those springs and re-install them for the clamps. Free shipping...holy cow, push ups and pull ups. Effing Burt.

      Haha! Love it. Yeah, I'm a sucker for any new design even if it is crazy like that level! :). That's exactly what I'm doing with a lot of tools. I've got a bunch se aside to either sell or give away. Some of them are quite good, just don't need two of everything! :). Good idea with the springs. Reduce a little tension! Thanks as always for watching Meat! Have a great saturday! :).
