You can even render out backlight renders from Zbrush and import them into substance with that workflow, but use this render as a bitmap mask, then you can set the fill layer to emissive and change the colour of the light. With levels on top of it you can even change the light intensity🔥
Dope workflow for concepting. Thank you so much, it's so much fun

Just found your channel and instantly subscribed! Thank you for breaking things down in such an easy and understandable way! Definitely gonna try out this method on my next sketch 🤗

This video proves how well ZBrush utilizes its 2.5D features. Great video too!

Awesome as always. Just a shame, as you mentioned, that you worked on the plugin with Joseph Drust when he worked at Pixologic :-( .... such a shame he doesn't work there anymore

Great tutorial Pablo! With the substance workflow can you export id maps for different textures/materials?

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yeah for sure, just toggle polypaint off, enable polyframe with the line and you got yourself a simple ID pass ;)

If you had to pick one renderer to rule them all? And, do think waiting to see what Maxon does with Zbrush and Redshift integration might be worth it?

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Very hard to choose just because I simply go for whatever works for the project I'm working on. One of the best renders I've tried (based on a good balance of versatility, simplicity and quality) is Maverick but is not necessarily what I'd use in all projects

@ Thanks, this is still a hobby for me, so I can only justify the expense for one, and I would like the one I pick to be, at least, my go to renderer down the road.

Is there a way to get id maps from the compositor as well? If so it would be awesome if you could do a quick run down on it. Would love to see the SP workflow as well, although I think TB is a little better for presentation.

Figured out the ID maps 👍

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, polypaint off, polyframe without the line On and that's it

I use the same process for keyshot. Just click keyshot and bpr and it sends the file to be rendered in ks. Is there any benefit to using marmoset over keyshot?

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

The PBR workflow, plus what you send to Marmoset is not the real mesh so you can literally send anything, nanomesh, Fibermesh etc

@ Thats nice im going to try it now. But since the back of the model isnt exactly accurate wont it affect sss and realistic shadows or bounces? I guess we can use it for quick concept renders.

Awesome tutorial Pablo!!! ... thanks so much for giving us this. You always make it look so easy : ). Does anyone else get an error when they use the Ambient Occlusion Compute tool (plug in)? I get a pop up ZScript Note:The specified execute-routine could not be found within the specified execute-file. (along with some other text) .. I also notice that particular plug in (in my Plug-Ins 64 folder does not have it's own folder along with the .zsc file as all (most of) the other plug in have .... could this be the problem? Thanks in advance.

I get the same pop up about missing zscripts. Script Note: Specified execute file could not be found. Script: ZBRushCompositor_2022.txt (FileExecute,Var,gFileUtil ....
It looked like a promising tutorial and plug in ..... thanks anyway.

I tried reinstalling Zbrush (as others have mentioned) and that did not work for me. Ah well ... back to manually importing layers. It looked like a cool plug in. Thanks anyway Pablo ... I still think you're awesome!

Does anyone know if this plug in still works with Zbrush 2023.2.2? I tried it this morning and couldn't get it to work (Marmoset 4.06) .... but that could just be me. Any advice/tips are appreciated. ... thanks.
