  • In 1967, Hanna-Barbera produced a Fantastic Four cartoon that adapted many stories directly from the original Lee & Kirby run. Great show that deserves to be on DVD.

It would a real dream come true for me to hear this theme be arranged one day as an orchestral piece for an MCU Fantastic Four movie in the future if and when that ever happens. I think it would sound absolutely amazing on the big screen.

Same thing with The Gary Coleman Show (1982)... the original 1982-83 NBC run had Casey Kasem narrating the show's premise during the intro. Cartoon Network airs the show without that voiceover.
Casey Kasem said during the intro for that series...
"Meet Andy LeBeau: brand new apprentice guardian angel. It's his job to watch over a very special gang of kids. And that's Angelica. It's her job to watch over Andy and make sure he doesn't goof up. Of course, none of Andy's good friends doubt if they'll know that he's really an angel. They just think he's one of the gang. And this is Hornswoggle. He just loves getting Andy into trouble with all his dirty tricks. But don't worry: Andy can handle Hornswoggle. So, hang on to your halos! It's the Gary Coleman Show!"

I'm the ultimate FF fan, and as GREAT as the second season of the 1994-1996 series was, it only equaled this cartoon!

I saw these series in the 80's when I was a child when I lived in Mexico, it was in spanish ofcourse, to me this will be the best series, I guess because is the one I saw, I just can't find it on dvd, I only find the 90's version.

I remember catching this show on Boomerang. Somehow it's loads better than the 1978 cartoon. They're both cheap, but this one has the benefit of being ten years older, having more consistent animation, and actually taking the Four seriously.
Not to mention that it actually *has* the Human Torch in it.

Okay gang. Last time. HOYT CURTIN DID NOT WRITE THIS MUSIC. Hoyt was on a bit of a hiatus from Hanna-Barbera from 1965-1968 and his replacement during that time was Ted Nichols, who composed and conducted the music you hear here. Hoyt returned to H-B in 1968 to score "Wacky Races" and stayed another 20 or so years.

True! Just before that FF cartoon was developed, Universal Pictures had optioned the rights to Spiderman, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Submariner, and Human Torch for TV pilots. Submariner never launched because of "The Man From Atlantis." Human Torch was never filmed because the studio would have had to animate the flames! Too "hokey" for the time.
The rights to the Torch character were all tied up at the time, that's why we got that lame ass H.E.R.B.I.E. in the animated series!

@keithcop I agree with you wholeheartedly! I have always loved this intro theme the best! I wonder if there is a HB cartoon theme CD available. I would definitely buy it because the themes were so "jazzy".

jimmy o Basically, Hanna Barbera is owned by Warner Bros and as you're probably well aware of, Disney owns the Marvel Universe. Both conglomerates have been rivals for years and would refuse to split the profits over any DVD sales of this

Disney has nothing to do with this series nor the Fred and Barney Meets The Thing series (aside from the characters) Far as tv and home video goes, WB handles it. When Disney bought Saban, then later Marvel the Hanna Barbera shows that featured Marvel characters wasn't included far as I know it. Yet I suspect that the reason why WB hasn't release it was in case Disney would ask for a royalty fee for the Marvel characters.
