    Receipe: play Bb F G- F over a descending diatonic bass left hand. Add pentatonic scales and blue notes right hand. Modulate randomly, apply the same pattern but on another key center, and sometimes go back to your main chords using either a 5th, 4th motion or a chromatic motion: feels like this music !

      It'll take me time but I'll learn what you described soon and will get back to you on this. I hope it works. Thank you anyway tho 👍

      By 4th and 5th motion do you mean like plagal or perfect cadencing back to the initial key?

    Just gonna observe here, a year on, that when people say Jacob is too into himself while "performing", I think he is actually putting in extra effort to communicate with his audience. Its virtuoso, but also just social, and I like it.

    Oh my God I watched this live, and re-watched it over and over until it vanished from Instagram, thanks a million for posting!
    That melody he's playing around with ( 4:36 ) was also in the Keyscape demo, it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard!

      Seems derived from "Blackbird", if I had to guess . . . or maybe "Tuppence a Bag" from Mary Poppins . . . who knows? LOL

    • @BenJogan
      @BenJogan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's a beautiful 6-2-5-1 pattern with an emphasis on the maj 2 chord (peak of tension). He repeats the pattern a lot in this impro. The melody he keeps repeating on it is so joyful :)

    • @LordZouzounas
      @LordZouzounas 7 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      that should be the case , my friend, though.. if you are a musician and you aren't enjoying yourself more than your audience, start wondering what went wrong asap.

    • @nicolasjoulin3004
      @nicolasjoulin3004 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is not my opinion. I think music create something beyond theory that is shared between performer and audience, a feeling, an impression. And to me that is the main thing to enjoy, hence everyone should be on the same level.
      With him I can't perceive that 'something', all I can see is theory in practice. These are good composition but they lack substance.

    • @totheark1107
      @totheark1107 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Joulin Nicolas I think the point you are missing here in this example is that it’s really just improvised. I play in a similar fashion when I’m exploring new territories in my own playing or extrapolating on new ideas/melodies/progressions/etc. Yes he applies some pretty extreme theory into his music, but why can’t he? I like the challenge to understand his point of view while at the same time enjoying his brilliance. Then again it’s all a matter of opinion :)

    • @LordZouzounas
      @LordZouzounas 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Joulin Nicolas Saying "he lacks substance" means that u r such an advanced musician who can easily judge. But let's be honest here, all you need is practice and someday you'll get him and his theory applications 😉
