As someone who has battled cancer twice (and almost lost my life both times) I have an appreciation and respect for what Princess Catherine is going thro both physically and emotionally. I wish her and everybody going thro this ALL the very best. 🙏

How lovely for Catherine to wear fern earrings, that symbolize hope and renewal. Everything she does is so well considered.
My 91 year old dad has had three different types of cancers. He had to have chemo and radiation therapy for each one. He still has a full head of beautiful white curls and didn’t ever lose it. This is why it irks me beyond the telling of it, when stupid people were ‘annoyed’ that Catherine didn’t lose her hair!!! Annoyed that she’d had preferential treatment because she is a future Queen. Utter tosh. Cancer doesn’t give a flying feck who you are. My sister lost all her beautiful dark curls when she had chemo. It’s just luck who does and who doesn’t. Sorry. Rant over.
My Mom didn’t loose her hair either, but getting chemo took a toll on her. It only gave us a bit more time with her but she languished for months before she died, emaciated and bedridden in her last weeks of life, if you want to call that life. Cancer is a beast!!
My younger brother died in 4 months after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a year after our mother. There is so much loss from cancer.
I pray Princess Catherine will defy the odds and live a long life with her beautiful family.
It's also type of chemotherapy and there are sometimes measures such as cold capping which can be helpful. In medicine there is no one size fits all. Each individual is different.
The hair loss is not luck. Chemo is matched to the type of cancer and not all chemo causes hair loss! I agree about how disgraceful it is for people to make comment that our beautiful Princess of Wales didn’t lose her hair. It may seem a small thing in the scheme of things but losing your hair, on top of managing the effects of going through chemo, is devastating🥲
Between my mother, father, sister, and brother we’ve had many types of cancer and chemo in our family. My understanding is that the loss of hair depends on the type of cancer and the type of chemo. My sister had breast cancer and she is the one who lost her hair.
Bravo!! I was at a cancer fundraiser yesterday and a very young lady gave a talk about her cancer journey. It was both horrifying and uplifting. At 22 she got an extremely rare cancer, had chemo, radiation, more chemo, was sick beyond belief and is still forging onward. Yes, cancer takes no prisoners and has no care who it affects. I lost my mother to it but at least she was old and passed away easily so we didn't see her suffer. Much love to your dad. x x x x

I think Catherine's behavior stems from pure empathy, gratefullness and appreciation. There is no acting on her part, she is so genuine in the way she responds to people, we can't find fault with her behavior on these visits. She is the epitome of grace and beauty.

Many years ago I was a medic. There was a car wreck where we had to match shoes to children. To this day I have severe PTSD (I was also a corrections officer for juveniles tried as adults). The fact that those first responders have aftercare is amazing. The fact that C&W recognize that also is beautiful

I hope you are able to have help to get by the terrible rememberings. My son is an LEO, and I see the impacts of some of the situations he was involved in. You do the best you can, every day, and some are worse than others. It's one of those things, it will always be with you. While we may not understand each person's reactions, we can and should sympathize and respect your feelings. That's what this visit shows. Respect for the hard work, mentally even more so than the physical. The fact that the most personal contacts were performed in private illustrates their awareness that some people don't want to show their vulnerable side to the world.

I suspect Catherine will have wanted to visit Southport much earlier but possibly just couldn’t. Didn’t Queen Elizabeth famously regret not visiting the village of Aberfan earlier…they’d suffered an horrific loss as well in 1966. I’ve never been a mum and I simply cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. But it would mean something, no matter how little, to receive support from William and Catherine. And without cameras. Queen eventually did go. Believe Prince Philip went first. It was a misstep she so rarely made. Beloved Queen, amazingly powerful personal strength. She will not be repeated in our lifetimes, though William likely is more like his grandmother than either his Father or the lamentable brother and spouse. Being a gran is so different than being the Mother.
She considered it one of her biggest regrets. Her initial reasoning though, was not to cause an uproar in protocol by her visiting while there were still active recovery efforts going on

My mother was a guest at the event with Edward and Sophie. She’s a retired military wife that volunteers with the British Legion in Malta. I didn’t spot her in the video clips. According to reports (by my father), she came home slightly drunk 😂😂😂

The Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh do great work on behalf of the Monarchy. I do get really frustrated that they are not given the space in the media, they never have the appreciation they are due. What I did see on the trip to Malta, was a relaxed Duke of Edinburgh, who when meeting groups of people, was very good and listening t9 what he had to say, he was laughing and joking with people, which was a great thing to see. I truly feel this lovely couple are doing a grand job and have come into their own now, both showing confidence and warmth to everyone they meet. Good for them, they make me proud when I watch them.

At one point, antidepressants became my worst enemy. They nearly killed me. The weaning off process was scary and dangerous, but survived. Congratulations to all survivors. It’s a terrible and difficult journey.
I respect your resolve. Medication can be a lifesaver, but it comes with its own set of problems. So glad you were able to get through it and hope that you never need those meds again.

Dear River, I live in a neighbouring town to Southport and while we did not know of this visit (unlike the other one who even from across the pond where we know of every move she/they make) William and Catherine arrived with no fanfare, pomp or ceremony. Discrete, dignified and no doubt emotional private meetings with the parent's and dance teacher and then to meet the responders not in a grand hall or gala venue but in a small centre minutes away from the events on that dreadful day. I know the community centre (and I don't say this to draw any attention to myself but just wanted to express how it made me feel really), but it brought a little smile and tear to my eye. Mainly because it was so lovely to see Princess Catherine back by the side of her husband once more. Being one of her first engagements all be it under simply horrible circumstances no one could ever have foreseen...but in the background where some of the gardening things which belonged to my late parents that I had donated to the centre (alongside some tools for a woodwork group they also have there). It warmed my heart to see Catherine and William there, but it also warmed my heart to see mum and dad's things they once used in a garden they loved, now given a new lease of life and being used once more.

It was so lovely seeing the Princess and Prince of Wales out at such an emotional moment. They are so empathetic and they truly listen to these people who have been so cruelly crushed by the horrible incident. Such compassion goes a long way towards helping those people begin to heal.

My son the same. Ex veteran couldn't live with his demons. There was no warning. You dont get any warning. He came back from a night out with his partner. She got up in the morning and found him hanging from the door.

I met a woman from England years ago whose daughter was MURDERED by her piano instructor. I spent hours talking with her, she was destroyed.

A lot of the kings try out a beard. Some of his antecedents look very austere in their beards and I'm not a fan - too stern for my liking. William has such a kind face; I hope the beard is not going to stay and hide it from us.

Remember when Megaliar visited the Uvalde school disaster with her camera crew in tow for photo ops ? I guess this is Harry’s UVALDE MOMENT.
