The hole drilled in all the stand pads is to put a string thru and keep in your jacket pocket or fairing stash.... When you go to park in a bad spot, just hold the string and drop the pad and put in place and lean the stand on it.... Wrap the string a couple of times around your bars and you can safely get off the bike.......When you are ready to go, sit on the bike, grab the string and lift the bike off the stand, and pull the pad up.. and then ride away....
A small pack of baby wipes in a Ziploc bag to keep them from drying out. Good to wipe up a mess, clean your hands, face, and the other place that’s not your face if you get some bad gas station sushi 😉

I keep a couple 3 pairs of disposal rubber gloves. If caught in rain I can pull them over my leather gloves, if I have a break down keeps the hands clean while working on the bike I can wear them while I skin and gut the road kill I’m having for breakfast😂😂
Crampbuster throttle "helper." That brand works great for my 72 year old arthritic wrists. I have them on my bikes and used them on my last two interstate trips - LOVE them - about $10 if you shop online. Seconds to install or remove.
I always carry tubless tire repair kit . Get them at the Dollar Store for about five bucks. Also needle nose pliers to remove nail etc from tire. Small can WD40 is handy to have on board. Small can of Honda Pro polish and cleaner with mirco fiber cloth comes i handy when you want to clean gas tank etc or windshield while out on the road.
I do a lot of motorcycle camping. Invariably, especially at national parks, when checking in you are given a registration or park pass and told to "put it in the corner of your windshield....... oh well, tape it to you windscreen." Sometimes it even has some gooey adhesive that will never come off. So, I've taken to carry one of those mid size black clamps that normally hold about thirty sheets of paper together in the office. Bend the tag over the upper corner of the windscreen so both sides are protected from the metal clip and you're good to go. I've never had one blow off.
I keep a pair of clear safety glasses in my bag in case I get caught after dark and i only have sunglasses. I also have a spare bulb in case my one and only headlight goes out. Also I have two bicycle cable locks from harbor freight to lock my stuff to the bike when I park. About 5 bucks each
Tripp, I'm 62 and a decades rider, during time which I've learned that comfort trumps sexy and cool. My two must-haves are Throttle Assist/Control Clamp (Amazon $5.00) for cruise control on long trips, and the second is a Throttle Assist/Rocker/Palm Rest (Amazon $8.50) to give your throttle hand a break from gripping over time. I started wearing Motocross goggles on long trips. Wind chapped eyes are no fun but I can’t bring myself to block the wind off of me with a wind shield or faring. Being in the wind is a big part of why I ride. Like you said, comfort is more important than sexy!
Some gear might be more or kess useful regarding the environment you drive in. I try to keep a rescue blanket and a bright colored scarf with me. Hanging the scarf from the handlebars is a good sign that you need help. And at least it can be used as a cleaning rag.

Us old-schoolers always carry a spare 503 master link on our keys, since even though my ride has a belt, I ride with guys who still run chains. Besides the normal wire ties, cordage, bungies, a few nuts and allen bolts, and believe it or not baling wire. Bailing wire has saved me more than once in 45 years of riding, this does not include the wearable gear like chaps, spare gloves, spare eyewear, and a tool or two.... depends a lot in what/when/where you are riding..... be a boy scout guys and gals. Don't forget the spare bourbon either..... jes sayin...
I carry two bunji nets. Great for Holding purchases or spare things on the seat also can secure your helmet and jacket while you’re off the bike. It won’t stop a thief but at least your stuff won’t get blown or knocked off the bike while you’re having lunch. I also always carry an air pump
Had a side stand luck for years but haven't needed it once! Carry an elasticated cargo net and use it frequently - great for getting stuff home that's an odd shape or can't fit in the manner

Coincidentally I ordered a battery tender USB adapter on the 24th of August. Be sure to unplug it from the tender wire or it will drain your battery when the motorcycle is not running. Another good option for earplugs is a slim keychain pill fob. I tend to go old fashioned on the tire gauge. The so called “metric” kickstand foot will hold up a 900lb+ Harley-Davidson touring model. Another good item to carry on your motorcycle is a small cargo net under $10 as well.
Personally, at the end of riding season I am excited to ski and snowmobile and then at the end of ski and riding season, I am excited to take the Harleys out.

I took a bungee cord to my eye when packing up my bike to make my return trip about 8 hours from home. The hook slipped and it shot right into my eye creating a hyphema . That is when your eyeball fills with blood. I was blind in that eye and had to find another way home as I could not see to ride. Doctors told me that bungee accident happen very frequently. I have never used a bungee since and that was 20 years ago. Rope and ratchet straps.
I like to have a couple of medium and small zip ties, a small roll of silicone tape, and a few feet of duct tape wrapped around a lighter. All those are a couple bucks a piece.

I carry groceries bags (plastic) Incase I get stuck in a storm. I cover my boots and then tie them off on to leg(s). Side note, make sure you put your feet down flat. Can be slippery till you get used to it.

I always carry a 4" pair of vice grips. Throttle cable broke by the grip, was kinda weird but, vice grips got me home. Also, I've had to use them for a shifter. I have a small flashlight with me on the bike too. Remember the old school way, if it moves and it shouldn't, duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, WD-40.

I was asked what I try to always ride with? First thought is tennis style elastic wrest bands, an neck scarf. I've paid the price in pain from rocks, bees insects going up my sleeve or hitting me in the neck!

Yeah, so I just went to Amazon and ordered the Battery Tender UFO port, a digital tire gauge, AND a mount for my Garmin that connects to my handlebar! All for around $35, the items are due to arrive in two days! Thanks for this info, I've just subscribed and signed up for notifications.
Headlamps are also great while working in the garage for those inevitable shadowed spots in the bike you have to work on that the garage lighting just doesn't reach. Hands free!
Never seen a digital tire pressure gauge that was even close to accurate, 5-10 lbs off, usually low. The USB charger is interesting, I'll have to take a look.
I tried the digital gauges, every time i went to use them the batteries where dead so i went back to the pencil style, i just check them once im a while to verify accuracy
Tire repair plug kit. Over $10, but a 12v air compressor. Tire pressure gauge, small 2 person First aid kit. Frogg Toggs. Waterproof boot gators/covers, flashlight, chem lights, reflective warning triangle, road flare, a 1 quart metal fuel bottle with spare gas in it, spare spark plugs, electrical and gorilla tape, large and medium zip ties, a small leatherman, a few extra tools ie, standard or metric allen wrenches, flathead and philips screw drivers, a few sockets with spark plugs socket. A small can of carburator cleaner, premoistened window cleaner wipes, small compass and small road atlas, polly top, polly neck gaiter, and beanie, TP, extra water bottles, a few snacks, spare riding gloves/mechanix gloves, clutch cable repair kit, medicine kit incl. Tylenol, ibuprofen, benadryl, and cough drops. Tampons or maxi pads for the wife, cell phone charger, a bic lighter, extra socks, a bandana and finally a small lightweight backpack.
I end up going with tire pressure gauges with several inches of hose and a right-angle chuck. The dual disc front on my bikes makes it really trick to get other kinds onto the valve stem. Possibly the silliest practical bit of gear I have is the carbon fiber side stand plate from Aerostitch. It's seriously overkill and I don't suggest it at all, but it does work nicely. The only reason I bought it was a situation in a past marriage with someone who had this deep need to spend every dollar of income every month.
I've been subscribed for a while. I have a 2014 Ninja 1000 and a 1998 BMW R1100R (which were my only vehicles for several years after my divorce.) I just can't comfortably get my hand through the gap between the rotor and rim enough to have much of a grip, but getting a couple fingers onto the back side of the right-angle chuck goes a lot easier for me.

I don't know many people who ride these days. I dropped out of the local riding groups after re-thinking some of my life choices as of that point after I decided to not go to a group ride and a bunch got hauled to jail for the speeds they were doing on public roads. Alas, there are a lot of creators I'd love to support more but being currently unemployed and job hunting right now means not being able to commit that money.
buy the right motorcycle like a bmw K1600 and you would not have to buy those things...it's got a volt meter, air pressure monitor, usb port and two din ports for charging, and a courtesy light underneath the bike to light up the are. nice video...thanks.
Lots of good suggestions there except for one item. I thought a battery tender volt meter would be nice to have too. Bought one from Aero Stitch and wouldn’t work on my 04 1100 Shadow Spirit. I have the regular Battery Tender (maintainer) hooked up which works well. I returned that 1st one which they replaced. Tried the exchange and that wouldn’t work either. The charger works fine so I don’t know. Tossed the 2nd one out. I’d just suggest if you do get something like that you try it at home to be sure it functions.

Not under $10 but I got a bluetooth tyre pressure monitor set for about A$40 (US$30 ish) with 4 sensors ($10 each I guess). It works with a phone app and is pretty accurate.

I added a button light in my saddle bags for night riding small and bright!

Years ago I used to keep garbage bags under my seat.... in the case of a downpour, they did a pretty decent job for making a makeshift rain suit.

For kick stand,I use a elct. box cover. the round blue plastic ones for house wire, easy to keep a stack in bike and about a $.25 each

A couple of rags also come in handy for checking the oil or just wiping your hands if they get oily from working on your Bike

Keep spare batteries for your key fob. You may need them or someone you ride with might need one

I was asked what I try to always ride with? First thought is tennis style elastic wrest bands, an neck scarf. I've paid the price in pain from rocks, bees insects going up my sleeve or hitting me in the neck!
Base layer arm sleeves. Removes the chill if riding with perforated leathers and the weather goes nippy

New subscriber here.. I was at a smaller tool store today,and I found a little cheapie set of feeler gauges for a couple of bucks to add to my asst of tools in my tool roll,also I got an extra pair of clear glasses just in case. Good ideas! Keep an comin! 2 wheels down sir,and ride safe. Peace.

Yeah, so I just went to Amazon and ordered the Battery Tender UFO port, a digital tire gauge, AND a mount for my Garmin that connects to my handlebar! All for around $35, the items are due to arrive in two days! Thanks for this info, I've just subscribed and signed up for notifications.

Headlamps are also great while working in the garage for those inevitable shadowed spots in the bike you have to work on that the garage lighting just doesn't reach. Hands free!

Never seen a digital tire pressure gauge that was even close to accurate, 5-10 lbs off, usually low. The USB charger is interesting, I'll have to take a look.
I tried the digital gauges, every time i went to use them the batteries where dead so i went back to the pencil style, i just check them once im a while to verify accuracy
Tire repair plug kit. Over $10, but a 12v air compressor. Tire pressure gauge, small 2 person First aid kit. Frogg Toggs. Waterproof boot gators/covers, flashlight, chem lights, reflective warning triangle, road flare, a 1 quart metal fuel bottle with spare gas in it, spare spark plugs, electrical and gorilla tape, large and medium zip ties, a small leatherman, a few extra tools ie, standard or metric allen wrenches, flathead and philips screw drivers, a few sockets with spark plugs socket. A small can of carburator cleaner, premoistened window cleaner wipes, small compass and small road atlas, polly top, polly neck gaiter, and beanie, TP, extra water bottles, a few snacks, spare riding gloves/mechanix gloves, clutch cable repair kit, medicine kit incl. Tylenol, ibuprofen, benadryl, and cough drops. Tampons or maxi pads for the wife, cell phone charger, a bic lighter, extra socks, a bandana and finally a small lightweight backpack.
I use an old licence plate to put under my goldwing’s stand in soft ground

I end up going with tire pressure gauges with several inches of hose and a right-angle chuck. The dual disc front on my bikes makes it really trick to get other kinds onto the valve stem.
Possibly the silliest practical bit of gear I have is the carbon fiber side stand plate from Aerostitch. It's seriously overkill and I don't suggest it at all, but it does work nicely. The only reason I bought it was a situation in a past marriage with someone who had this deep need to spend every dollar of income every month.

I've been subscribed for a while. I have a 2014 Ninja 1000 and a 1998 BMW R1100R (which were my only vehicles for several years after my divorce.) I just can't comfortably get my hand through the gap between the rotor and rim enough to have much of a grip, but getting a couple fingers onto the back side of the right-angle chuck goes a lot easier for me.

I don't know many people who ride these days. I dropped out of the local riding groups after re-thinking some of my life choices as of that point after I decided to not go to a group ride and a bunch got hauled to jail for the speeds they were doing on public roads. Alas, there are a lot of creators I'd love to support more but being currently unemployed and job hunting right now means not being able to commit that money.

buy the right motorcycle like a bmw K1600 and you would not have to buy those things...it's got a volt meter, air pressure monitor, usb port and two din ports for charging, and a courtesy light underneath the bike to light up the are. nice video...thanks.

Lots of good suggestions there except for one item. I thought a battery tender volt meter would be nice to have too. Bought one from Aero Stitch and wouldn’t work on my 04 1100 Shadow Spirit. I have the regular Battery Tender (maintainer) hooked up which works well. I returned that 1st one which they replaced. Tried the exchange and that wouldn’t work either. The charger works fine so I don’t know. Tossed the 2nd one out. I’d just suggest if you do get something like that you try it at home to be sure it functions.
Little half inch convex mirrors you stick on your mirrors so you can see your blind spot , and you don't have to turn your head then.

Not under $10 but I got a bluetooth tyre pressure monitor set for about A$40 (US$30 ish) with 4 sensors ($10 each I guess). It works with a phone app and is pretty accurate.
Overkill!
Napa sells a small jump pack for about $100. Better than bulky jumper cables.

That digital tire gauge won't fit in most places, maybe the front wheel. Never needed ear plugs as i wear a helmet
I guess it depends on the bike. It fits on all of mine pretty easily.
