    I find Shalimar is great for dining as well. I would never go for a perfume without gravitas and personality, and I find Shalimar doesn't clash with food, providing it's French cuisine. The two go so well together with the emphasis on sauces in French cuisine, and all the gorgeous butter that marries with the leather and amber accords. If I'm going for haute cuisine which is more delicate most of the time, then I consider Cristalle.

      Wow never thought of that! Shalimar reminds me of a sexy educated woman like a hard core scholar professor or librarian ha me …at swanky college ! Ha don’t know where that came from! But sexy af at night

    As a Parisian, it’s a great top 10!
    For the niche one, maybe to symbolize the harsh, young and tech aspect of Paris, maybe something from Etat libre d’orange ?

    Great top ten. It reminds me how much we do perfume ourselves and how we just have no care for office correctness or no sensitive nostrils empathy... I would hade chosen something from Lutens (certainly Ambre Sultan, but Molinard's Ambré lumière is extremely close and way stronger) too.

    I visited Paris last year for the first time and all I brought with me fragrance wise was coco (edp) and coromandel (edp). To me soo many people smelled of Nuxe oil and I had to buy it as well. 💛🇫🇷

    What a delightful dissertation. I have the same Hermès bracelet - it looks better on you. Does the bar on yours slip out of the ring? Unfortunately mine does.

    • @essence-tiallydacob9611
      @essence-tiallydacob9611  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It never slips out. The trick is to buy the proper size and length for your wrist. Just one link too many and the bar will slip open. For me the only size that works os the extra large model with 12 links. One more link and it opens. You possibly bought it one link too long for your wrist.

    • @rouquindunord8420
      @rouquindunord8420 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also have the Chaîne d'ancre bracelets, GM, one 14 and one 15 links and it's safe. The same with the necklace. They require to be tried before purchase.
      Hermès bar is long and thick. What unfortunately dupes do not have. or it's way too long and loose.

    Not Paris (1983) by Yves Saint-Laurent? It was created when 'the man' was still the creative director of the perfumes... an aldehydic accord of violet and roses by Sophia Grojsman. Maybe it could have been your number 11. ;-) To be honest, the current version is a sad, synthetic mess. Too bad. Loved your list, Dacob!

  • @TemplePriestess

    Dacob, my love! I was getting worried when you were already at 10 and had yet to mention a Guerlain. And then you came through so fabulously by mentioning the other Queen of perfumes for me, Shalimar! Shalimar is the one I would chose to wear in Paris hands down. I have a bottle of Pour Monsieur and it has a completely different color, it seems totally watery down in comparision with the bottle you have.

    • @essence-tiallydacob9611
      @essence-tiallydacob9611  ปีที่แล้ว

      The color of the juice changes a bit from batch to batch. Chanel used to deliver a paper note in each pour monsieur edt box that stated that the color of the perfume would be different from batch to batch depending on the time of year or harvest it was made in and with. They stopped the paper note thing but it was so cool when they used to do it. So no worries about the color of your pour monsieur edt… as long as it smells great to you, that is all that matters. 🥰

    Thank you Dacob for this video, you talk about Paris like it really is, not forgetting that there are also people from suburban areas, the banlieus, and Paris wouldn't be Paris without them. For me personally, Paris is the city of lost love and shattered dreams, but also a place of great ambition and diversity. Some of the parfums you mentioned I also associate with Paris. Shalimar was my ex partner's mum's scent, when I wear No5 I feel like I'm back there, Alien, yes (might be a bias though, as I think we both experienced the city most intensely about 20 years ago). Anyway, thank you.

    Dangerous? Nah. I've never seen a fight in Paris. You can be out alone any hour of the night. Even drunk people don't start arguments, or fights. Ok, I live in the Marais, but I know the city and really I never perceive any threat.
    As for perfumes, you go to 69, rue des Archives, buy, and wear whatever you bought 😁
    I don't agree with "dangerous" but the rest is very informative ❤
