It's still a masterpiece. The current version is just as good, if not better than the vintage. Performance is very good.

The first time i smelled the chanel gardenia, i was mesmerised. It is the best out of the best. Have you tried the Elizabeth Taylor Gardenia ? People are saying that it smells like the Chanel one.

I really like EdC; some may argue that it’s ’too simple’ for the price, however I totally disagree as ‘value’ can be very subjective. I’ve tried many different cologne-style fragrances at various price points, I have to say that Chanel has pulled off this genre better than most houses. If you love this style of fragrance and you want to find the best smelling or highest quality rendition, Chanel’s EdC should be on your hit list. The top sparkles, however; it is in the dry down where EdC succeeds where many other fragrances of this style fail. Whilst many cologne-style fragrances can fall flat or smell cheap as they dry down, the magic of Chanel’s EdC persists as it hugs you with a soft bouquet of florals and delicate musks ☀️ Edit: regarding price, in Australia 75ml is about $170 USD. It’s expensive, there’s no getting around that, but if you’re a financially responsible person and you like this style of fragrance I think this is a great one to try.

I made a mistake. I bought this, and thought it was the old Opium I wore in the 80s. I put in on, and first I smelled a lot of soap, and then I traveled back in time. But the soap really confused me. Now I understand why. Back to ebay I go to search for memories of youth.

La Pausa, Bel Respiro, Cuir de Russie and Sycomore are my favorites. My favorite fragrances loaded with citrus are Cristalle, Eau d'Orange Verte and Chanel Eau de Cologne.

Would layering with something like Iso E Super molecule help longevity with the Eau de Cologne ? I agree totally with your excellent review and when i tried it i loved it - but felt that $500 for 10 minutes $50 per mn was quite extravagant

I love this eau de cologne. A good cologne is like a fresh glass of water during an opulent dinner , or a cool shower after a hot day . Longevity is overrated in perfumes sometime . This one is a live in the moment luxery , very uplifting and positive . ❤

I love it. It's my new favourite. Glad I bought the largest bottle as I'm spraying it not just on myself but around the house too. It's such a mood enhancer. 👌

Here is Japan (January 2025) the Eau de Cologne in 200 ml bottle is priced 48 400 yens (~295 euros / 310 USD). Before this year, it was 'only' 40 000 yens here (so I bought 2 bottles for back up !) When I came back to France for Summer holidays last August (2024) I was SHOCKED to see the price rue Cambon : 345 euros !

This is what the wealthy husband who is uninterested in perfume gets when his wife drags him to the Chanel boutique and his wife insists that he buy something for himself. “Just get me the one that says cologne on it and no fancy colors or anything” That’s what makes it so cool. Maybe that sounds weird, but there are some days when you just want to put $400 perfume on and have no one notice or care. You don’t know the notes, you don’t pay it any attention, you let it sit in your bathroom, if it goes missing you aren’t fazed. THAT is luxury. The lifestyle itself is luxury, NOT the fragrance

It is very nice one. Surprisingly it lasts decent amount of time on my skin 😊 Btw. In Australia Cologne is cheaper than EDT . $455 AU dollars for 200ml cologne and $260 for 75 ml.

Chanel makes wonderful nail colors, but the product chips after two days..

I love, own, and wear all kinds of perfumes, although not close to as many as you. I recently gifted some and decanted a bunch to my great niece going away to college. However I do understand the signature perfume lot among us. Chanel No. 5 is my most worn perfume and it has so many facets that it does not smell the same every wear. I have worn it through joys, sorrows, defeats, celebrations, to relax, and to energize and activate myself. I have no one mood, age, or seasonal association with it. It just bolsters me and buoys me in all my endeavors. It doesn’t hurt that there are 5 concentrations. Still, I enjoy many many others and reach for them often. None so frequently as No. 5 though.

Oh my god, I thought I was the only person who sometimes wore a perfume that I didn't like the smell of just to force myself to like it and go out on the street with that smell. I didn't know that there were people like me. I didn't like Tierry Mugler's Angel, but something was pulling me to use it. It was something that I can't quite explain, it's as if it were a force that called me to that smell. Something additive but that I don't necessarily like. But when I use it, I feel comfortable and cozy and I learned to like this complex and masochistic smell. I thought I was the only one.
