- I made a dust collecting table for sanding.
It is used by connecting the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner.
The table sucks sander dust and keeps the woodworking workshop clean.

What an clever idea! When I think of the amount of dust created by even a simple project, this would be a real asset to a small workshop.
As a bonus, if you connect the vacuum up backwards, you can play air hockey with it! ;-)
There is one word for this gentleman’s work and shop: clean.
My one word is "Genius!".
A good way to improve on the suction of this is to create a panel or two to cover up the area of the box not in use, redirecting more suction to the piece you are working on.

When I was a kid I used to love watching people doing manual work. A favourite was the coffin makers where we would get sawdust for our pet cages. Now even though I have no intention of making this, the pleasure of watching it being made is the same.

I made a sanding table like this about five years ago though not nearly as nice. A festool nozzle fits the end dust port. Plus I like that the piece is held firmly during sanding.

Clean work as usual. I'm always impressed with how nice the tools you build look and how well they work, and this is yet another very nice looking build, but It also has my thinking and that almost never ends well...
First thing I'm wondering about is the internal baffles. I assume that they are there to moderate the airflow so it's spread more evenly over the surface. Now how necessary are they? How would omitting them influence the airflow. Guessing I'd say the most airflow would occur along the edges, but that's just my initial guess, the real question however is how it would impact the total performance of the table. It would make the build slightly easier and faster if the baffles could be omitted without seriously hampering performance. But if they need to be there it's no big thing.
Next thing is that I wonder is how necessary it is to glue down the deck? I can see how it is likely to become scuffed up pretty quickly so it could be a good thing if it was easy to replace and also it could make it easier to clean the box out now and then. If the vacuum underneath it isn't enough to keep it in place then perhaps tapping in a few nails from the side might do the trick. These nails would be relatively easy to pull compared to trying to rip the deck from the glue.
I do have one more idea on how to keep the deck in place without relying on glue or nails or anything like that, but it would require that the sides of the box is slightly modified and it would there would be a border sticking up around the deck which might make it harder to use if a piece you are working on is to large to fit inside that border.
Both these things are thoughts on possible ways to simplify the dust collection table, alternatively making it easier to maintain so it will last longer.

Great idea, very good bevelling the inside towards the vacuum port. Good geometry calculations or trial & error? I wish my little table saw had that as it only collects dust within 75mm of the port! ;-\🤔✔️
For greater efficiency , you can place some matting or board around your sanding area / workpiece to concentrate the suction to a smaller area

If I had all of the tools in this video I’d also have a dust collection system.
It's great. Just for those boxes with so much volume you really need a big dust collector and not any type of shop vac. Should be at least a 4" outlet port

The standard vacuum cleaner/hose appears to work well for the jobs the unit is designed for.
The construction of that unit is certainly not designed for large and heavy pieces anyway. Some might call the design lightweight.
Granted a vacuum cleaner unit of greater power would certainly be necessary for heavier work.
It looks as if the design philosophy is to remove the finer dust particles from light sanding jobs without a lot of fuss.
Not everyone rips down railway sleepers but simply build small scale models for example.
Horses for courses and all that.

The suction thrust of the table depends on the ratio of the sum of the areas of all holes in the table to the area of the vacuum cleaner hose.
The area of the holes in the table is about six times larger than the area of the vacuum cleaner's hose, which means that the suction of the table is about six times weaker than the vacuum cleaner.
I'd suggest a long strips for holes to avoid dust crammed
2:20 thats interesting you made a little shroud in front of the drill on your homemade press - I made almost exactly the same drill press and was just thinking of doing the same thing - those Hikoki/Metabo drill fans smell weird and blow air in your face when drilling
