My Top 3 from this list all from 1980 ! Gold 🏅- Pretenders , Silver 🥈- Killing Joke Bronze - Peter Gabriel. Private Life by Pretenders , Requiem by Killing Joke & Games Without Frontiers by Peter ( Young Kate Bush guests ) 3 of my all-time favorite songs. U2 Boy also 1980 gets 4th & XTC Black Sea .. also 1980 gets 5th. Steve Lillywhite Produced Peter , U2 & XTC .. He gets Producer of the year 1980 🏆 !!
The 1980s were my formative years but I wasn't into music then - only listened to the top 40 hits as background sounds or casual entertainment, and bought no more than 3 or 4 albums the entire decade. It's only in the 2000s that I started getting interested in various music genres from the decade. My recent purchases have been quite diverse, from an album by black-metal group Carcass to The Pointer Sisters.. 🤣
Pretty cool that you had Master of Puppets on vinyl back in the day although it mustn’t have made much of an impression 😂 My favourite albums from your list are October, Boy, War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Queen Is Dead (although I didn’t like it back in the 80s), Freedom of Choice, Graceland (also didn’t like it back in the 80s) and Master of Puppets. Recently I played Born in the USA and it hasn’t aged well….I was on the Bruce bandwagon back in 1984 and 85 😅
Larry,I only owned three albums on thiis list,Double Fantasy and Press To Play by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and Born In The USA by Bruce Springsteen with Born In The USA the best album of the three and also of the year in my opinion and Larry sorry but you've got real a Sparks problem, you like them I know but the best album of the year?,Mollie,Glen Larry needs an intervention or something, help! Bob
I think 'So' is a great album that I would put in S. I'd also put 'Speaking in Tongues' in there, although it's not up to the level of 'Remain in Light' (in my opinion, the best album of the 80s).
Seeing Metallica’s Master Of Puppets below any of these pains me. Their albums were so game changing and influential during the 80s, no different to icons like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, etc… during the 60s and 70s, Metallica just wasn’t popular in a mainstream sense. Of course when Metallica started to suck they became the most popular/mainstream Metal band in the world.
Brill!, plenty of good albums here. I look forward to part 2 👍xxx.

Good selection of albums. Every time I see the cover of Michael Jackson's Bad, my mind immediately goes to Weird Al's Even Worse lol.

I'll assume you forgot Rush's "Moving Pictures" and "Signals", since you have other early '80's Rush albums on there. 😊
Songs From The Big Chair and Brothers In Arms are definite 'S' tier. Both sum up mid '80s in a good way.

A 80's album ranking without Duran Duran and Depeche Mode is horrible!
Maybe I am not a fan of either band, just like you might not be a fan of bands I love...
There's no ZZtops eliminator there
Nope.
The Joshua Tree: The most overrated pompous nonsense in music history...
my brother was named Josh in the late 80s because of it lol
u2 regurgitation of American RnR in one disc. No big deal.
My favorite album of all time.
I have never read before a more overrated pompous nonsense whining message like this, in my life...
Um no
