  • After bringing my Isuzu NRR to the shop for a simple service, I was notified that after removing two of the four glow plugs, they could not get the last two and in fact, broke them off at the threads (this does happen on occasion). So, they notified me that their only option was to remove the head and send it to a machine shop to reverse out the broken threads. That would have been at least 3 grand and I decided that there had to be a better way and bought a $45 tool off Amazon and gave it a shot myself.

Like you say be careful with this kit, i have it too. The supplied 10mm tap is 1* 1.0 thread. Those isuzu engines use 1* 2.5 thread. Wonder how many people have used the wrong tap and cut into the head with it only to find out its the wrong size!!?? Well done for getting those plugs out.

Great video . Thankyou . I have 1 glowplug to remove next week so ha e ordered the kit. I think I will use my drill bits and go slow to save those cheap ones breaking off in there.

Great information! Loved seeing your troubleshooting process and can't wait for your next update on the rig. What was the brand name of the kit you used?

They will tell you they have to remove the head..$$$$ but they rarely do....and would use a similar tap and die kit to remove them... and then charge you $1000's for a 3 hr job
