How did you get the threading out - you would have had - .8mm on each side of an M8.3 drill - good job by the way !!! I did one in a 2008 golf TDI yesterday - the short reach plugs are hairy when you get that close to the tip 👌👌👌
I hammered a torque tip into them, starting small and getting bigger as each size failed, it worked on one, the other I had to retap. Obviously some kind of left hand tread extractor tool would have been better as hammering in the torque tip would tend to tighten into the head, but if it worked 🤷♂️
WestCorkRestorations I have had to drill & cut out many easy-outs before even starting on the drilling process - as your probably aware/ they expand and go deeper into the nightmare - that is a pain before you even get to drilling the thread out - kinda messes up your centre, I think I have done plenty of broken extractors lol.
I went on plug braking spree on audi v6 project car yesterday . 2.5 tdi. I try to get oposite side drill and tap . Dont feel like taking head too😄. Mallow man
Just doing this on my 1.3 multijet fiat doblo,first three were so easy,blasted them with my propane torch,then they screwed right out!Fourth one however i blasted with the propane torch,it turned a quarter turn ,then i turned it back,then loosened it a quarter turn again,kept doing this and it suddenly just went really loose,crap!Car seems to start ok with 3 new ones fitted,and there's no compression leak out of the knackered one,think i'll leave it a day or two,bloody car!!
a tipp from somone who has had one too many of these problem children ( snapped glow plugs that is ) apply the 7 p's model / pretty poor planning leads to prety poor performance // now I have your attention children aply liberal quantities of penatrarating oilwd400 croil whatever brand of releasing oil /fluid you use we all have our favorites give yourself the chemical advantage others dont its worth the sleep on it to the plugs 25 hrs before trying to remove them
Your idea with tec bolt to pull out broken bit of heater plug worked brilliant I gave it rust off ice treatment as well , thank brilliant idea

Use break fluid and will seep down over a few days.
