When there’s a visual fiction slip-up there’s gotta be an in-universe explanation, like Vector Prime says they are blips of reality-bending anomalies from various locations in the cartoon.
While it might be test footage, what’s actually happening with the missing face plates is that they were on a different cell from the figures, likely so that the face plates could move when they talk without having to redraw the entire figure just for the face plate movement. Ultimately, the animation was shot with the overlay cells of the face plates missing. Whether that was early footage that did not get reshot in full, I can’t say, but it’s not like it was an effect that would have been comped in later. It was just a missing cell layer in the shot.
My favorite animation error in Five Face of Darkness comes in (I think) Part 5, where Sky Lynx, Blurr and Wheelie are tossing the transforming cog back and forth. Wheelie grabs it, laughs, then turns and screams, "Oh no!" when he sees a line of Decepticons. But several of them are the Insecticons, who are supposed to be dead (I never bought that explanation that they were clones). I always joke that Wheelie was saying "Oh no!" not because of the Decepticons, but because half of them were zombies.
The best 'combiner shows up with his components' error you missed, when a group of decepticons all borded Blast Off to escape a battle... including Bruticus, who is somehow smaller than his own arm, which is also still in place. Also the Rebirth Part 3 error does help my argument that Goldbug should get a distinct separate mold to Bumblebee, since we can see here, while a similar transformation scheme, they are two notably different character models.

In the "SOS DInobots" example it's not only Prime that is all blue all of the Autobots that are chanied up are blue. I'm pretty sure that is intentional because that's their way of showing that the energon chains are draining the Autobot's energies.

I'll be honest I don't think that was an animation error in SOS Dino Bots. Because when wheeljack repowers them back up they get their regular color schemes back so I think the colors being screwed up is deliberate because it's supposed to represent them being depowered from getting soaked.

Blasters open chest kind of looks like the inside of a old tape deck but upside down.Wonder if the Combiner errors could have been the show the Combiner and they split up and the Combiner still stuck in the scene
Another common G1 mistake was Devastator's eyes flip-flopping from separate eyes to a visor. My guess is that the official cartoon design has a visor while the toy and it's box artwork had separate eyes, leading artists to confusion. Speaking of eyes, blue eyes Starscream was another common mistake and it's hilarious because we know the guy is not trustable at all, so it fits his personality to look like an autobot for some frames. And, let's be honest, he looks pretty handsome with blue eyes.
What about that episode where sideswipe is standing next to Megatron at deception base, or the one in season one where Megatron is levitating. And the one in search for vector sigma where I think one of the airealbots are flying with the deceptions I think, Im not sure about that one, and five faces of darkness episode 4 where one of the airealbots scene standing with decepticons.
I love that shot of the decepticons from the beginning of FFOD with Galvatron and the predicon when they weren't supposed to be there.... The smiles that most of the decepticons have are so bizarre. Especially the predicon (sorry, drawing a blank of his name at the moment for some reason) and Motormaster since they are front and center the most so it's especially glaring. Lol

Watching the G1 series as a kid, sure, some of the errors were obvious. However, the color scheme/character model thing in Season 3 seemed to be an effort to fill out the ranks, much like they did with all those unnamed seekers in the first season. But no, it was all about laziness, cheap production, and no one worrying about the continuity.
In season 1 when they had to fill crowds it was because they had about 10 Decepticons to work with at times, they had no choice. By season 3 you had dozens of Decepticons, around 50 by my count, so they had no excuse for not having enough characters to fill shots.
I wouldn’t mind if Hasbro started canonizing animation errors like this as G1 Cybertronian alternate modes four characters that didn’t appear with one in the first episode.

Clearly the duplicates were the Decoys with more than one color. Also you missed one of the worst animation errors: Sideswipe's character model hanging out with the Decepticons. I'm wondering if some of the off-models were attempts at attempts to animate movement, like the stretch & squash technique, or in the Bumblebee's case a bad attempt at a dramatic angle?
Of course it's not a complete list. If you did that this video would be 23 hours instead of 23 minutes. I will mention some of my personal favorites that didn't make it into the video though. My favorite instance of Character duplication is when the Decepticons were testing the space bridge for the first time and they sent one of the Reflector units through to Cybertron. In the very next shot you can see all 3 Reflector units still together on Earth while they're talking to a 4th one on Cybertron. There wasn't 4 of them prior to him being sent away. It's also funny because usually only one of them is suppose to have a camera lens on the chest while the other two are blank. Some times there will be 2 or 3 all with lenses while other times they will all 3 be blank. There's also some obvious character duplication in the movie where characters who were suppose to have died keep showing up through out the rest of the movie and well into season 3 and the Rebirth. The notable of which is Thundercrack and Skywarp being seen at Starscream's coronation despite their bodies being turned into Scourge and Cyclonus' Armada who never shows up or gets mentioned again after being introduced. My favorite instance of what is probably a layering issue, I'm not sure... In Transformers the movie when Ultra Magnus is putting the Matrix into his chest there is a very obvious error where the Matrix isn't in his hands anymore and is already in his chest. What makes this error even weirder is that Ultra Magnus is actually animated taking the Matrix back out and putting it in again and he puts it in correctly the second time. This error continutes to happen on DVD and Blu Ray releases of the movie and it would be an easy error to fix since literally all you have to do is cut out a few frames where the Matrix jumps into his chest and he pulls it back out. Just a couple seconds of animation removed and you're left with a much smoother animation of Ultra Magnus putting the Matrix in his chest. I could understand them not wanting to put in the money to go through every G1 episode to fix all the errors but the movie did have a much larger animation budget and it's gotten multiple remastered releases and it's just crazy to me that not once have they ever bothed to go back in to fix that. TJ: I can't remember an Autobot that was depicted with a Decepticon symbol in the same way. Me: BUMBLEBEE! Not sure how anyone could forget that one with all of the G1 references in Transformers Animated including them intentionally sneaking in a Bumblebee with a Decepticon insignia as reference to the same animation error happening to Bumblebee in G1.
I think there is one shot where sideswipe is working on a computer in the decepticon base, but not only they show him from the front, I think the next scene shows him from behind sitting at the computer.

When it comes to miscoloring the Seekers, I always remember the Star Trek TAS color errors. Which was because someone, I don't recall, in the staff was color blind. So an entire episode of Grey Spaceships and jumpsuits had the cat-aliens in bright pink... or so I am told. Because ironically I too am color blind. So if this is true or if everyone is pulling me leg I can't tell you.
Even as kids pointing out the errors was a fun thing to do.

This error continutes to happen on DVD and Blu Ray releases of the movie and it would be an easy error to fix since literally all you have to do is cut out a few frames where the Matrix jumps into his chest and he pulls it back out. Just a couple seconds of animation removed and you're left with a much smoother animation of Ultra Magnus putting the Matrix in his chest. I could understand them not wanting to put in the money to go through every G1 episode to fix all the errors but the movie did have a much larger animation budget and it's gotten multiple remastered releases and it's just crazy to me that not once have they ever bothed to go back in to fix that.
TJ: I can't remember an Autobot that was depicted with a Decepticon symbol in the same way.
Me: BUMBLEBEE! Not sure how anyone could forget that one with all of the G1 references in Transformers Animated including them intentionally sneaking in a Bumblebee with a Decepticon insignia as reference to the same animation error happening to Bumblebee in G1.
I think there is one shot where sideswipe is working on a computer in the decepticon base, but not only they show him from the front, I think the next scene shows him from behind sitting at the computer.
G1 errors are part of the reason I LOVE the original series XD

There are other instances of Soundwave's voice not being modulated. Even Megatron gets this problem in Megatron's Master Plan (part 1 I think)
When it comes to miscoloring the Seekers, I always remember the Star Trek TAS color errors. Which was because someone, I don't recall, in the staff was color blind. So an entire episode of Grey Spaceships and jumpsuits had the cat-aliens in bright pink... or so I am told.
Because ironically I too am color blind. So if this is true or if everyone is pulling me leg I can't tell you.
