    You can’t beat a Brompton for multi-modal touring. I’ve recently changed my gearing to -12% to help with hillier tours after Years of standard gearing.

    looks so nice out there, it is still grey and dull weather in england, and i really want to get a brompton after watching your adventures.

      They're handy little bikes! I'm amazed how much this Brompton has handled... the hills of Big Sur, the varied terrain of the Olympic Peninsula, and now this fun Florida jaunt. Great bike!

    I read your post on the hack for using Ortlieb panniers on Brompton with zip ties. You said there you were hoping to test it out on a tour. It looks like you did test it here ( I am just guessing you used the hack, since I saw the Ortlieb pannier on the front rack) . I am having the same problem as you did/ do . I have a ton of Ortlieb gear for a normal bike and I don't want to again pay loads of money for new bags. I got a Brompton which sort of broke the bank :D. So question is should I buy the frame and try your hack or get into the rivets ( again thank you for the other guy who made a sophisticated improvement), which I am not skilled to do myself and need to hunt for support. Great video and thanks for sharing ( and reading this longish comment)

      Zip ties did a great job... I used a ton of them so there was redundancy to handle the minimal load. If you have the technical skill to pull off the "pretty" job, I'd say go for it. For me, this worked great!

      Pedalshift how long did you ride each day?

    • @Pedalshift
      @Pedalshift  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@C-2-t-M 30, 40 and 50 miles... a little less mileage than I normally do. Next year I plan to do a different route with some additional miles.

    Nice going Gianni, I also ride a Brompton, my dad lives in Kissimmee, I may look at your route and replicate it. Thanks for this video, the ride looks like a blast and nothing wrong with pulling into a motel after a 30 or 40 mile ride, lots of times it’s more relaxing than a tent. 👍👍

      It's the Zefal Dooback - you can get that online pretty easily. Definitely recommend it for Brompton folks.

      Pedalshift how is the mirror when the Brompton is folded? Does it hit the ground?

    Love your podcast.
    Noticed that you had a cap under your helmet, be careful, if the cap has a top grommet it could concentrate the impact force to one half inch spot on impact if you suffer a head first crash. Looking at your D-bike in the e-mail: I love how far back your rear rack is. Wouldn't the front rack be better lower like centred on the wheel like using Blackburn lowriders? www.flickr.com/photos/ellisbriggscycles/4855852087
