    I have the standard steel version. I traded my Rolex Explorer 39mm for this Omega beauty and have never looked back since. Awesome timepiece.

      That's funny, I almost traded my Explorer 39 for this watch too. I ended up selling the Explorer and later bought the Sub but I back when I was pretty sure the Explorer was going to be sold I was close to doing the same thing.

    Thanks Guy, I just looked at this review now that the replacement for this model is due to hit my local AD soon. The new version looks great but I honestly think I might prefer the outgoing model (in stainless steel) as I think the new lollipop second hand spoils things a tad and I would prefer the ceramic bezel insert of the older model as well. I have to agree with the bezel action of Omega divers though, they work and work very well but are some way off that of the tactile feel of a Submariner. To be honest I've yet to use a bezel that comes close to the action of my 124060. I'm also not a fan of the use of faux patina lume but I think Omega just about struck the right balance of old and retro with the 300. The Omega movement through the case back looks incredible.

    I am in love with Seamasters. I could make a perfect three watch collection with just Seamasters. I would choose the SMPc, the Aqua Terra, and the 1948 Small Seconds. The one you reviewed was nice but not my first choice.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That 1948 Small Seconds looks awesome.

    Thanks Guy, good choice of dive watch to review. Nice job! I like the watches you are selecting, i.e. Blancpain etc. Regarding your comment about the lume. I totally respect your opinion of preferring white lume, because it's a matter of personal taste. For me, I like the cream lume. I think white lume would be too much white on the dial with the text in white and the white sweep. It is my understanding that there is no "natural" colour of lume, so white is not the "normal" colour. Personally I always associate white with hospitals and kitchens, it can come across as too "pure" or too "clean". It would be interesting to see manufacturers creating the same model, but offering a selection of lume option colours. You can argue that the cream lume is not so much to make it look vintage (i.e. fake the age), but more of an aesthetic design choice.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Multiple lume options would be a great idea. I'd love to see companies do that. Thanks for watching.

    I got it a few days ago, the stainless steel version that is. Loving it! Looks so good especially when on the Omega Bond nato strap! The faux patina isn't as bad as I had thought though. It looks pretty bright on mine. Slightly off white.

    Held and tried on both this titanium version and the stainless steel version a few days ago... The titanium is so light! The stainless steel is heavy in comparison... Titanium looks cool but too expensive. I'm thinking of getting the stainless version as my next Omega. I like how the dial looks.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The price of the TI version does preclude me from making that one the obvious pick, but I would seriously look at the SS version. Overall I really like the watch.

    One of the best Dive watches in its category, stylish and dressy but the only problem is the lack of date just configuration and the 21 mm odd strap size. Titanium is very light, strong and scratch resistance but still for a Watch at this cost, I would go for the stainless steel body.

    One of my favorite sports watches. So beautiful. And the only Omega where they got the hands 100% right; The arrow belongs on the hour hand, not the elongated minute hand.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, the arrow hands are great on this one.

    • @r2d2skate
      @r2d2skate 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, the dial in general is very well thought out. I think Omega needs to focus on improving their line up of this particular model, its their most original and balanced sport design thats not a speedmaster. The seamaster professional is a bit dated especially the style of the bracelet, also it tries too hard to be a submariner and therefore falls short in competition. This model could really drive the company if they just make little tweaks to it.

  • @LS98

    Overall, I like this watch. However, I’m not wild about the faux patina on the lime. That would probably be more of a deal killer for me than the polished center links on the bracelet. I do like the adjustable clasp. My Seamaster 300 Pro ceramic bracelet is off by about a half link and can’t quite get a comfortable fit. Hopefully, I can swap out the clasp. Good review!!

    • @JustBlueFish

      @katshoulders4576 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      JustBlueFish Watch Reviews I like it a lot too, although based on the comments I realize I’m the minority. Like you, I don’t care a whole lot for the faux patina but there’s still something about this watch I love. This one from Omega and the Rolex Milgauss are my two grails. I tend to go for watches that are a bit “different”.

    Beautiful! I don't recall seeing titanium look that glossy or without any gray cast to it. Might it be plated?

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not aware of it being plated, but the luster of the finish is so bright I don't know how they do it.

    • @dasmesser1
      @dasmesser1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are using grade 5 titanium, instead of the usual grade 2. Grade 2 is basically pure titanium, grade 5 is a titanium alloy: harder than 2 and actually able to take a polish finish.

    Agreed on the polished center links of the bracelet. I checked this watch a few years ago, and I thought the bracelet was a scratch magnet. Also agreed it's confusing to have another watch called seamaster diver 300m that is so different than this one.

    Unfortunately the information about the "Metas Certification" is not correct for this watch. This watch features the "Master Co-Axial Chronometer" movement 8400, which was released before. Of course it features the resistance against 15k Gauss.
    Later, Omega released the "Co-Axial Master Chronometer" movement generation, which now are Metas certified. Confusing I know... I needed a while to get behind this as well.

    Why don't more reviews use calipers? I think they underestimate how much the raw numbers affect people's opinions.
    This watch's bezel is 41mm, for sure but Omega has often measured via the bezel (see: speedy reduced 35mm). From case end to case end, going past the overhanging bezel, it's actually 39mm and wears as such. 39 by 48. Sound familiar? Very sub-like. As for the height, both the crystals are domed, with the bottom crystal slightly less so (though that one sinks into the wrist), so the metal to metal dimension is 12mm. Doesn't look tall and wears only slightly above its class with the domed crystal and sheer bezel.

      If it’s never coming off the bracelet, meaning it’s an awesome bracelet, I don’t mind 21mm but it’s annoying when you’re trying to find straps.

    Titanium is what bothers me. It scratches easily but will eventually take on a brushed-like scratch pattern. Unfortunately, it will differ from the rest of the watch's surfaces.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, TI wears in differently doesn't it? I'd go with the SS version if I were going to pick one of these up anyway.

    • @kman49
      @kman49 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is grade 5 titanium. It's much harder and more scratch resistant than 316L steel used in most watches and 904 steel used in Rolex. It's also brighter and it's closer to the look of steel but not quite. Grade 2 titanium is very grey and softer than the aforementioned types of steel.
      I own the PO 8500 in titanium. Holds up a lot better than my steel watches. Grade 5 titanium is also the reason it costs so much.

    Excellent movement, to me mediocre design ruined by all the polished parts. It will be a scratch magnet, ESPECIALLY the bracelet.
    The movement itself would not be enough for me to get this, I would rather get some other model featuring this movement

      I think the design is masterful and a beautiful balance between an homage to the 1957 piece and modern aesthetics. I admire watchmakers who create artful pieces.The best watch at this price PERIOD. Full stop. If you like being sold the same thing over and over again with jacked up prices buy a Rolex or an iPhone. Not for me

    You are right, Guy, the faux patina lume doesn’t suit the blue dial. It does, however, look great on the matt black dial. Oh, and you’re not “boring”, Man, you’re “ conservative”!

      It's not a fair apples to apples comparison. The SS model of this watch would be a better direct comparison and comes in cheaper than the Submariner when we are talking about price.

    • @brettrun8575
      @brettrun8575 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The movement in this Omega is far superior to the Submariner. And as stated the SS model is cheaper than the Sub.

    • @philo2197
      @philo2197 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      brett run subjective. I have never been able to come to terms with Omega’s price points and the way the watches look and feel. Every time I go to an omega boutique and handle the watches I am just not very impressed.

    • @brettrun8575
      @brettrun8575 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phil O I would argue that your opinion of the look, feel and comfort is subjective. The comparison of the two movements is not. The Omega is superior in many ways to include anti-magnetic property, advanced materials, decoration, and power reserve. It’s always good for the consumer to have choices that’s for sure.

    Ugh... Rolex. I like the classic black sub but,if I'm being honest, starting to bore me. No,I don't own 1,but my 84 year old dad does. It's unfortunate you only have the blue Omega. I'm shopping this watch and,some dealers, are asking $7000,grey market. I've seen $4300. Not hard to find. I get the titanium factor, but $7000 grey market? Nope...

      @@junioradult6219 bought the Omega seamaster 300 diver. $4400, brand new,box,and papers. It's actually not a great dive watch. The lum is poor,and none existent on the bezel and,if you have old eyes,it can be hard to read even in daylight. I live on my sailboat, so no big deal. It'll do,and it's definitely tough. The submariner is a better dive watch, but so is my 36 year old Seiko Turtle. $180 in 1984,and maybe a couple hundred for a new one now. I'll probably trade the Omega, at some point, but no rush. Still a nice, tough watch.

    Good detailed review......Sorry but polished and brushed combined bracelet is a big no from me. Not a fan of polished centre links as they mark easily and quickly, a real scratch magnet. I have an Aqua Terra with an all brushed bracelet which I much prefer the look of. Not a fan of the big ugly side profile. All in all a bit of an ugly duckling disappointment from Omega. AND...don't get me started on the pathetic fake patina. WTF is that all about??? Not a touch on a Sub. Take it away, I'm fed up looking at it.

    I thought long about commenting or not and I'm sure some Omega fans will get offended by this - and I'm not an Omega hater by any means - but this is an ugly watch, not even considering the much too high price (for what you get in materials, movement and workmanship). It's just ugly IMO, compared to other 9,000$ watches and even 90$ watches.
    The side profile is ok, but when looked at from the top, the way the liquid metal bezel and it's color contrasts with the polished and brushed parts of the case and bracelet makes it look really cheap. Not the best Omega design. The SMP is much much better.
