If Nissan is smart they should bring the S chassis back, make it NA from Factory and go head to head with the BRZ / GR86 / Miata. They don’t have an affordable sport car anymore the Z is 40K and the GTR is 70+ so if they made it NA it would bring costs down ALOT, And we’d get an affordable fun to drive car for under 30.

They were considered a weak consolation prize for young guys who couldn't afford a Z car. Growing up in New Zealand with it's super relaxed import laws, I had no idea how spoilt we were with S-Chassis' (and all other cool JDM models) literally everywhere. I bought an S14 in 2008, then sold it in 2011 when I moved to Australia, where I realised how limited these cars really are - I mean they exist in Australia too, but we're also relatively lucky that the ones that do exist here did actually make it here. I bought a tidy turbo 180SX for AUD$6000, then I almost sold it for cheap when money got tight and priorities changed. One day I randomly looked on the internet after being out of the loop for way too long, and Holy Shit I am happy to still have the thing sitting in my garage ... I was always told that my Japanese plastic was never going to hold the value of old American muscle. Guess we just proved those boomers wrong... After some more time I've come full circle, and decided that my S13 will be a forever car. I'll be like those ancient dudes with their 1930's Chevs under covers. The 90s were such a golden era.

I've had my 200sx RS13U (european spec, which comes with the CA18DET) for 14 years. I bought it from an 82 year old man, Mr Price, who stayed in my home town, Cape Town South Africa. He imported it brand new in 1992 from Belgium to South Africa. I bought it from him (I was the second owner from brand new) for R18 000 ($1158) in 2008, it had 78 000km (48 000 miles) Full service history, everything was OEM, including the rims, radio, sunroof bag, full tool kit and jack and some other OEM goodies from Nissan in Belgium.
After 14 years of ownership, she still puts a smile on my face, hearing the turbo and exhaust sound. Looking at her all polished and clean always makes me think what a beautiful car that Japanese made.
My 200sx still is OEM, with a full service history, original radiator, original shocks, original springs (never cut), still stock height, original rims, original midnight blue paint, the only upgrade i ever did to my car, was a stainless steel exhaust and T28/T25 turbo, original exhaust manifold, original injectors. She is making a reliable 158kws and 285nm. The current milage is a very healthy 184 000kms (114 332 miles) still full service history, i change the oil and oil filter every 5000kms (3100 miles).

The Z has been Nissan's entry level sports car since 2003. But with the twin turbo Z coming back, if the rumored $40k starting price is correct, it'll be a bargain, but still well above entry level pricing. Nissan needs the Silvia back to offer something around $27k to compete with the 86 & the Miata.

What Nissan should really do tho is bring into the market a miata/Toyota 86 competitor, manual, good weight distribution and like a 2.0 turbo I4 for emissions and make it so the motor is tuneable, they will steal the market from Toyota Subaru and Mazda as long as they price it right
