DISCLAIMER: This information is based on my experience and will not guarantee you a UK Spouse visa. I am not a solicitor or visa advisor. I am just a person who went through the UK Spouse Visa process and is sharing the information I gathered through my experience for those who need more information for their own application.
So in an attempt to streamline the whole process of applying for the UK Spouse / Marriage Visa in 2021, instead of having to hand in thousands of pieces of paper including your application form, the UK Gov and Home Office are now requiring you to fill all your details online through their official UK Gov website and provide digital documents to be uploaded online through a third-party provider VFS Global.
Firstly, I’m gonna walk you through THE WHOLE online process, so you can see exactly what to expect when you start applying for a UK Spouse / Marriage visa ok? This will help you prepare everything you need!
In this specific video, I'll give explain to you the process of booking your biometric appointment with VFS Global, attending the biometric appointment, the process of uploading your documents onto their website and also what happens when the website has an error and you are unable to upload your UK Spouse Visa supporting documents onto VFS Global.

Would just like to say a massive thank you for the time and effort you put into documenting your journey through this process to help others like me. I studied used your videos and I used your checklist which is still up on my wall lol I printed and laminated it and checked of things as I went along.. I was worried doing it on my own as I had planned to use a solicitor but was encouraged to do it myself and told I wouldn’t need one. I did my research and I so thankful that I came across your videos. I followed them very closely only slightly adjusting things as my computer skills are not what they used to be lol. Fortunately for us, after the biometric appointment we received an email offering the priority service to receive a decision within 15 working days… for an additional fee of course, which we paid 😬 So thankfully we received the decision within 5 weeks from the date of the biometric appointment 🙌🏾 so again a massive thank you to you for sharing this very valuable information for ppl like me. When you upload your documents online do you have to upload the online application form with them again? Or it's already submitted when you pay your application fees

Hi Samad, I have all my documents in each barcode, meaning I have a pdf for each section, is that okay? I have been compressing them so they aren't heavy but I'm unsure if that's the right way to do it or not. What I understood from the barcodes is that they have to be in a pile with the barcode at the very top of it, so that's why I wonder. Thanks a lot.

I do have a question in regards to the uploading of documents. In the relationship pile evidence, I do have ( Marriage Certificate, Compilation of our photos, compilation of our WhatsApp Conversations) I have them all in separate pdf files. I was just wondering if it all has to be in one file or it can be separated and uploaded in that particular section online?

Hi there!
1) Yes you are required to book your biometric appointment after you pay all fees
2) Yes upload all documents BEFORE the biometric date you have chosen
3) When I was booking my biometric appointment, there were available dates between a week to a month after I paid my fees. There were many options for me but it's worth checking on the VFS Global website yourself for all the available dates of the city you are in

Hi there I just wanted to ask my wife got her biometric appointment in Pakistan as I'm her sponsor in UK my solicitor gave me documents back and told me to go to vfs global in uk to get documents scanned the next day after wife done biometric so is this way okay and how long does it take to recieve email from vfs global that documents have reached Pakistan like the processing time as I done priority visa which I should get reply within 5 days is there a guarantee so this okay to do also how long does it take for scan to reach so how long does it take

Either no dates available or website has a problem. Try calling in.

VFS was notifying and asking for the sponsor birth cert but I provided other evidence of sponsor citizenship so birth cert wasn't necessary for me
Hi, I opted for the assisted uploading of the supporting documents. I have printed all the documents but was wondering whether I should do the same for the pictures or if they would accept a pdf file which I have on a flash drive
They'll accept the pdf and the can also scan your photos one by one so it's up to you

Hi all d best and thanks for helping us out . Just need to ask you did you submit original documents also Or just uploads ?? Like payslips employmentletter sponsorship letters chats pictures everything and also priority service is for 5 days for £500 on website
If you've scanned, uploaded and submitted all your documents then you don't need to bring any documents to the VFS global visa centre for your appointment.
Priority service for any settlement visas like spouse visa will be £600+ and it will be for 1 month (this is the cost in Kuala Lumpur). Best to check the cost properly based on your type of visa and city.

Have same exact issue. I bought a service thats helped many people. They say the appendix II form isn't required anymore.

Online application is done on the UK Gov website. There's no printed forms.
Hey, thanks for the video, it was very informative. Do you need to segregate your documents using the document separator bar codes before you hand over your documents for scanning ? How does VFS team sort out the documents before they upload on your behalf ?
You can see an example in the video. Upload by category.

@@meghabhargava338 no not necessary. Just arrange it accordingly and you'll be fine.
Vfs issues with uploading docs happened with me too. Looks like vfs does it on purpose for if someone misses the fact to prove you tried to upload but it didn't work, they would just book paid upload instead.

No if you didn't select any 'priority service' then you don't need to pay for anything. Just select your booking appointment date that's available and upload your files after on the VFS global site.

If you uploaded your documents online then it's just the checklist and whatever relevant docs like passport, receipts for visa fees etc
Do they scan your fingerprints for you at the visa centre or do you have to get a scan elsewhere then bring them physically to the visa centre.
In my mind I'm thinking this visa centre has a machine you put your hands onto to scan them or do you have to go elsewhere to do that?
It's a biometric appointment so they'll take your fingerprints at the appointment

so the whole process in VFS office roughly took around 2 hours? I've uploaded my documents just fine. Hopefully i wont need to rescan everything again. The reason i'm asking is my appointment is scheduled to be at 11am and i have to catch return flight back to Kota Kinabalu at 6pm. i hope i can get everything sorted ASAP.

No you don't have to. Just bring the receipt to your appointment in case they ask for it.
Hi, this is the exact same issue i am having uploading my document right now and ive got 800 to 900 pages of documents and got less tjat a week till my appointment sooo angry Whats the point if they cant maintain and run a website? They can process taking your payment instantly but not uploading your documents i am soo frustrated!!!

Hi. We're navigating the VFS Global Self-Upload platform now. It's quite confusing :) Could you give me a hand with understanding what goes where? Firstly, we couldn't figure out where to upload my wife's (applicant) passport. Also, at the top in blue it mentions birth certificate. Does this imply that I need to upload my birth certificate in the sponsor section? And it does mention that black and white copies are okay, so I assume these will be fine? Thank you so much!

@@foodngems Thank you so much! Regarding the accommodation, I came back from Korea to sort it out in advance. I found a rental for us, so we will be uploading the tenancy agreement, the proof of receipt for 12 months rent in advance, and a letter of no objection stating 1. That my wife will be added to the tenancy, 2. The 1 year tenancy is extendable at the end, 3. That the house is of appropriate size. Will these docs be sufficient do you think?

They take your photo for the visa during the appointment. But you can both upload and bring it with you too

I used www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf to compress pdfs. And no, just upload to VFS global website after you've paid for your visa. As long as you have your files and a decent internrt connection then it's easy to upload.

Hi! How are u? I am applying for a spouse visa from America. I have finished applying, I have my biometric appointment however on the vfs website it is not giving me the option to upload any of my documents online . I’m going to assume I should just bring a copy of EVERYTHING even (proof of relationship) pics , emails , flights etc to my appointment? Ugh I’m confused
After you make your appointment, you should be directed to the page where you have to upload your documents. If the website isn't working, I recommend you contact VFS on their social media platforms and ask for help. If they don't respond, then screenshot the website where you can't access the page to upload documents to prove that it's the website's issue and show it to the staff at your biometric appointment so that they give you free service to scan all your documents (this means you have to bring all your documents to your appointment)

There's no way to check that. You'll just have to trust that it's done properly.

Can we book the VFS appointment anytime after submitting the visa application or do we need to book the VFS appointment immediately once submitted the visa application.
We have already submitted a visa application but then cancelled it the next day as i made a couple of spelling mistakes and got one of the travel dates wrong. We are now preparing to submit the application again and I can't remember being provided with a link to the VFS website after we paid last time. thank you!
You have to choose the appointment based on available dates on the VFS website yourself. You'd be provided with the link to book it after you've paid for the visa and IHS surcharge. Then after booking the appointment, you'll have to upload all your documents.

@@Bkkiow they'll send you a confirmation email after you paid for your visa and it will include your GWF reference number which you need to use to submit your documents on VFS global (they'll include the link in the email).

You're supposed to submit documents before the biometrics appointment.
I read that some documents have a 28 day limit. So in obtaining these documents you need to pay and do the biometric attendance within this time scope?
You have to make sure docs like bank statements are recent - if you submit docs in Nov then your bank statements should end in Oct/Nov.
You submit docs and application first, then pay.
@@foodngems thanks. I'm confused now, as in the videos you pay, then you submitted docs after that!..I'm worried as I have a bank statement from 2 weeks ago, so If I can't get a biometric appointment within 2 weeks this statement will be invalid
Oh my apologies. I meant to type you submit APPLICATION first - then pay - then submit all documents - then go bio appointment.
If you've already submitted the documents, then you're fine. It's the most recent from when you've uploaded it, not from the date of your biometric appointment.

All the stuff they request you to bring to the appointment: passport, checklist, receipts etc

They prefer uploading. If you submit physically you need to pay for scanning services.
Hi samad I need your guidance in an issue with vfs selfupload. I tried to upload pdf format files on to the site they were showing no preview. The file sizes are less then 5mb tried several different browsers but the problem persisted. Though jpg files show proper preview. But for large files like appendix, pictures, WhatsApp data I have to combine multiple (4 or 5) jpg into one single jpg and name them accordingly as appendix 1 to 5 of 18 pages. Is it acceptable for the home office? I mean to say of one single appendix of 18 pages I would have to upload 4 sets to appendix section. Similarly with pictures in proof of relationship

@@muhammedsadikpanakkattil2792 one solution to submit the documents directly to vfs in Uk by your spouse. Your wife in UK tell her to submit document to vfs office. My wife submitted in vfs Birmingham office by paying pound 100

Yes you can, up to two times. I think you need to rebook it like a day before your appointment. Worth asking your city's VFS centre

No because they don't provide any information about it. I assume they'll issue it within the year, like tax returns

No you have to pay after you choose your appointment date to ensure you're confirmed to go
