I've flown to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, all that busy stuff even during events. But I've always been scared of Heathrow on Vatsim. Now a lot less ❤

Wonderful video. It's fascinating seeing how much you're thinking about while dealing with such high traffic levels - great job!

To answer your question at the 13:30 timestamp, 45 degrees is the maximum intercept track for the UK. Solid vid mate, well done

Great video Jamie!! Helps me improve my skills as well as an S3 controller ❤ It’s great how u vatsim UK guys manage so much traffic with small Airspace’s to work with , such a challenge
But I bet the satisfaction one gets after maintaining a constant 4 mile separation between consecutive aircrafts, which literally never stop coming , must be something else
I wish we guys in India had such great traffic 😂

Hey mate! - thanks bud, really good to know it helps even controllers approved to already control APP units! - seeing that constant line of inbounds on the final approach path and your work coming together is bloody lovely!
Hope you are keeping well! :)))

Hey Jamie, just got 2 quick questions, the first is in relation to Shuttle callsigns? So usually it'll be 2 numbers and 1 letter (eg SHT12H), in relation to the letters, do they mean anything at all (like a certain letter means the flight is scheduled to depart around midday or evening etc), or is it just British Airways giving the flights random letters.
And the last one is, with regards to NPAS or Helimed flights within London CTA or other airport CTAs, what are the procedures with those? Would it be VFR with basic service, or because they're either on calls or flying to certain areas, do they have to go IFR, or something completely different?
Great explanation video, VATSIM in the UK is always top notch :)

    • @LONController
      @LONController  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hey mate, thanks for the questions!
1 - most are just random. Maybe they do like SHT12A/B/C/D/E to the same destination in a day, but A would be the first and E would be the last.
      2. We have published heli routings in the London CTA - you can find the published routings there - www.caa.co.uk/media/wppncpam/london-heli-route-chart.pdf - there is some good content on YT for these (i think)

      @@LONController Thanks for the replies.
Yeah it is a little random, but it's usually the same for the flight each day so maybe you're right.
And with relation to the heli routings within London CTA, in the unlikely cases of say, a helimed departs or is heading to a random park on a job, or NPAS needs to deviate off the routing to follow a car they're chasing (if using the mission based addon for MSFS or just roleplaying it), would said helicopter need to request deviation from routing or is it quite strict and you need to follow the routing no matter what till outside the CTA?

I don't know if Vatsim is different, but in the real world, the callsigns are random essentially, but airlines will keep the same ones for the same flights usually, so you get used to the same callsigns. The one exception is that sometimes if a callsign finishes with R, that means it's a repositioning flight (not always though) and if it finishes with T it can mean it's a training flight (again not always).

@@samuelwarrilow407Again, in the real world, if Police/Helimed need to go somewhere, since they have higher priority than regular flights, you move stuff out of their way if need be. However, usually they fly VFR (the pilots for those Helicopters can fly VFR in conditions that normal pilots would not be able to), so there are no separation standards in class D airspace between VFR and IFR.

This one was definitely interesting to watch for sure. I'm primarily flying in the New York area, and it also gets quite busy there. Had it happen a few times where the controller forgot I even existed, and next thing I know, I'm making three landing attempts and running low on fuel by the time I land.

Thank you this video was great, I learned a lot! 😃Two thoughts though: 1. I watched this video before the actual controlling video and I think it actually was better since it was then easier to follow the controlling video knowing your thoughts behind everything. 2. Commenting to the video at 1x instead of 2x speed would have been even better since it then would also have been easier to see the changes you made in the tags, now it was a bit too quick (it's quick already in real time!). The video would be a bit longer but you would then probably have less need to pause it to commentate so save some time back that way!
