Stray Cats - 'Too Hip, Gotta Go' Guitar Lesson

- So here we go - my first guitar lesson! I've never done anything like this before but a few people have asked me for tabs for 'Too Hip, Gotta Go' since I posted the video a few days ago. As far as I know, there are no decent tabs so I know what a pain it was picking it all out by ear... This is by no means 100%, but it should point you in the right direction and give you a place to start. If you do have a go at it, I'd love to see some videos of you playing it when you're ready...
If this goes down well, I might look at doing a few more of different Stray Cats songs as I know there aren't many lessons out there.

Fantastic Rob... I could listen to you and Ignition play all day!! 😍🎶🎸
Thanks Alison! Hopefully more coming soon :)
Great lesson! Even someone as bad as me can get this one down with your slow paced, detailed teaching style. Thank you so much for taking the time to break this down for us!
Thank you - Glad you found it useful. Let me know how you get on with it!
Great lesson. Thank you!
Excellent playing and lesson. Thanks and congratulations from Spain 👏🏻👏🏻🎸
Thanks Fernando!
Man, I,m already half way through the song, it's all very clear. I want to congratulate you again. I dont know if you will continue uploading lessons. I,ve been after "beautiful blues" for a while. I,m sure you could make something great out of it. I know it's hard work (not acknowledged by many) so I understand if you don't feel like it. I,m mostly been learning by myself online because my job doesn't leave me money for lessons with a personal teacher so I,m trying to figure out things with the help of people like you. Thanks again and best wishes!
Thanks Fernando, that's very kind of you. I enjoy doing the lessons, it's always nice to help people. But, they take up so much time to make... A 30 min lesson is probably 6 - 8 hours of filming and editing in total. Beautiful Blues is a great track and I love playing it, but there's so many intricate parts in there that it would take a couple of days to do everything properly. I'd love to do it, but I'd need a huge chunk of free time to do that one.
Rob.
Check out a guy called Ste Brennan - He has a patreon channel and does a phenomenal job. I'm sure he's done a few lessons on Beautiful Blues. He's a top player and a really nice guy. Well worth subscribing to his channel if you can.
@@RobBrindleyGuitar thanks for answering! Yes, I know the hard work you put into it. It means many hours of work so don't worry about the Beautiful Blues. I just wanted to show you my gratitude because thanks to people like you I have learned lots of things. As you know, social networks are full of insults, hate, disrespect etc but nobody seems to have nice words for the people that do great things. Anyway, as I told you, I love guitar and I,ve been playing for quite a few years. Most of the things I know are by ear or copying what others do (I,m trying to get the theory I need. I,m already good at pentatonics but, it's hard breaking from them haha). Anyway, thanks a lot for your job and so that you know, every time you put out a lesson out there you are doing lots of good (to me and more people). I think it's fair to be thankful when someone deserves it. Best wishes from Spain!
Awesome playing, awesome lesson!! I hope you get some time to do that Gene and Eddie tutorial mentioned below. You will gain a large following if you keep the Setzer lessons coming. Great job man!
Thank you! I'd love to do more of the lessons, it's just that they take so much time to do them properly... Hopefully I'll get to it one day!
Thank you. Great rockabilly tutarials that include the whole song are so rare. And yours was excellent. Cheers
Thank you, David! Hoping I get time to do some more soon

What delay pedal is you using? Thanks!!

Podrías hacer un tutorial de rockabilly rules de Stray Cats? O de hatrodgang? Por favor please 😂
I need to learn them first! :)
Hi, please explain your set up... subscribed
Thanks Richard. I'm usually using a Gretsch 6120 running into a Line 6 POD HD500 for recording these videos. The POD has amp modelling and is set to replicate a Fender Bassman. I run the POD directly into the PC (No amp) via USB and record that way. For live stuff, I run the POD Into whatever amp I've taken with me on the night.
Rob
@@RobBrindleyGuitar thanks for the reply
