    Great vid. Reminds me of my getting to the train station - commuter train to Union Station Chicago. It was a no time to lose situation.

    Enjoyed your video and yes, LAX is pretty unique during the overnight. Sorry you missed the Construction update, but terminal 3 is now connected to TBIT and you can do the entire walking without taking a shuttle or even leaving Security. It's slowly getting better and will be all completed before the Olympics in 2028. Including terminal 4 . The new AA end gates open October 15, followed by the new Ticket counter and checkpoint in January.

    Thanks for sharing. Quite inconvenient to have wait for a shuttle with uncertainty…having to leave one terminal then enter another terminal. Fortunately, LAX is currently undergoing major upgrades such a forthcoming automated people mover and as of late August 2023, all LAX terminals are now connected airside.

      Is it open overnight? Was he allowed to stay in there just bc no one saw him? Do the food places stay open?

    Oh man, you are literally all alone, there. Good to see the terminals at LAX; remember the experience vividly from when I first flew there from Singapore via Tokyo by SQ in 1991. Lovely to see the terminal and airplanes at night.

    Thank you fir sharing your trip. Wow!! I feel sorry that you missed your connections back home. Well, the time you unfortunately are laying over there in LAX, there are a more than 20 hotels just 5 minutes aways from LAX. Please always be safe traveling next time. I know of the nice Hilton Hotel being 5 minutes away from the airport by the bus shuttle. Well, travel safe for the rest of the year.

    It could be worse. In June, we were flying home to Boston from Turks and Caicos through JFK, and our flight from JFK-Boston was delayed and we were at JFK for 8 hours. By the time we realized that we would get home 3 hours earlier if we rented a car, we had already cleared customs and re-checked our bags so we were stuck with the flight. The flight was only delayed 2 hours, but it felt like many many hours since we didn't end up taking off until 1am. We arrived in JFK at 5pm

    If you want direct to Chicago from LAX, fly United. Done it many times and it’s very enjoyable.

      I actually had a voucher on Delta hence why I opted for them over UA this time. Next time for sure!

    Wow those north gates of TBIT are depressingly small. Do they still use the ground boarding bus gates too?

    • @roachtoasties
      @roachtoasties ปีที่แล้ว

      TBIT can support A380s with some gates having three jetways. Since Bradley West opened the need for those remote gates was eliminated. There's still a horrible commuter terminal east of the United Terminal, that requires a bus trip. Those are due for elimination too, but the new terminals on that end haven't even started construction. Maybe they'll be done before the 2028 Olympics.

    Being that I'm a bit older than you, I wouldn't do as well traipsing the hallways of TBIT at o' dark thirty! So you're flying DL to ATL, connecting to ORD? Are you taking Amtrak or Greyhound to Champaign? Long ago I had a layover of roughly 3hrs on a Sunday afternoon at ATL, flying to IAH, (turned out it was my last-ever flight on an MD-80!) I felt like a homeless person checking out nooks and crannies of ATL, moving about, wanting so badly to just go SOMEWHERE, on any carrier's aircraft! The TBIT is galaxies removed from your home airport! :)

    I am going to have a 1hr 55min layover in LAX going to EWR from an international flight. Im actually wondering whether ill have enough time for my connection to terminal 6 since i just realized that we have to go through custom in LAX and baggage claim before the connecting flight 😑 if anybody ever gone through this situation please let me know. TIA

    I had to spend 5 hours in SFO because our connection to O'Hare got cancelled due to that freak wind storm in Chicago this summer. Had to go on the next plane that was taking off from O'Hare which itself was delayed 1 hour from the wind storm. I was flying from Honolulu and we wanted to take the HNL-SFO-ORD route (rather than the red-eye direct HNL-ORD) so we could get home around midnight to sleep in our beds. But with the added delays we got home at like 3 am, which kinda ruined the point of the connection. But it was better than trying to sleep on the plane and landing at 6 am.
