      As long as they are forced to keep it clean. That is the biggest issue. Even in the low income housing, people feel free throwing garbage all over and have no respect for their neighborhood.

      I understand both your viewpoint and the viewpoint of the sober residents of this community, but usually the first best thing to helping someone on the streets get clean is finding them a secure place to live. It would be great if a kind of halfway house community could be created for those who are still using, but want to kick their addictions.

  • @AFloridaSon
    @AFloridaSon ปีที่แล้ว +15

    The only way this can work, is if the occupants are capable of following rules, and actively doing things to better themselves. There's always been people going homeless, but they only got back on their feet if everything wasn't handed to them. Humans need a nudge in the right direction sometimes.

    • @sugarspice7768
      @sugarspice7768 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The video said no drugs or alcohol. Hopefully they are strict with those rules. Otherwise that place will become a flaming dump in no time. The addicts always find a way to ruin things for those who actually need and want help.

    its a start but until we follow more of the Finland system and provide long term housing with out the pressure of "rejoining society" its bound to fail, there is no support structure for long term mental illness or disabilities in the USA anymore. People say mental institutions are cruel and inhumane but is it more humane to allow those people to fend for themselves on the streets?

When we see stray dogs we pick them up, take them to the shelter, clean them up, feed them, get them medical treatment and try to get them adopted. Of course some don't want to go but they're not in the right frame of mind.

For your information I'm a republican-conservative but that doesn't mean we can't help people that have fallen because of drugs, unfortunate circumstances, mental illness or whatever reason. We need to take care of the people in the U.S.A. also.

    This is wonderful this is what I was waiting to hear you have done writing band has the excellent job doing everything they need the other aspect is maybe keeping their haircut and cleaning them up could be another big help if someone is willing to work with cleaning them up to the point with social workers can step in and maybe get somebody who can cut her hair who's willing to help out this would make the difference and they would also feel good about and maybe trying to get them in two jobs
    Training this could make the difference if someone gave them in the encouragement to keep going then being stuck in a rut and no one should have to be put down by the judgment of others because they're trying to make it life holds so much more than someone who degrades others that's been in their shoes giving them the self-confidence that they can do anything they set their mind to is what they need right now a lot of them's been through hell and backI really appreciate everything you're doing to help the homeless because it's just more than most people would do I do know when doc was around he helped all homeless in the past and got them up on their feet by giving them the self-confidence they can work anywhere he talked to people to make sure that they could get job training and find out if there's people who can work this would make a change and the difference to getting them to feel good about herself again thank you your services are really appreciate

      They using prop 13 and want land values High. CA is actually the most regressive state against poor people.
      They give money to poor to vote against self interest long term though.

    This is really the first step I've seen from any city that makes sense to assist our own people with shelter.. hopefully Catholic charities or whoever will continue to help our citizens to get off the street..in the meantime most of the countries middle class are just trying to survive in this expensive world...THANK YOU CATHOLIC CHARITIES AND ALL INVOLVED ❤ MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT
