There was actually a deleted storyboarded scene that had Dipper snapping Dippy Fresh's neck after a fight broke out between them. One of the many concepts that Disney deemed "too adult" for a show with episodes like "Into the Bunker" and "Northwest Mansion Mystery."

Allegedly, Alex Hirsch put that stuff in as busy work to distract S&P so they wouldn't censor his ACTUAL vision for the show. By the end, he got a little too good at it. Stuff like "sprinkle some mercury around" got through because the censors flunked high school science!

    • @MattTOB618

There was also a deleted sequence where, instead of Wendy, it would've been Ford tempting Diper into staying, and he would've accepted. There would've been a small scene of them going on adventures together, before they come across a recreation of Dipper and Mabel's school, where he sees how alone both of them would become, making him realize that this isn't the right choice.
But no matter how Alex wrote it, it didn't feel right because Mabel Land shouldn't let them see the bad side of it. So it got scrapped in favor of the Wendy scene.

Ah yes, Northwest Mansion Mystery. An episode including a bunch of animal heads bleeding and speaking in a deep scary voice, a guy who had an axe lunged through his brain/skull. Weirdness in the show is described similar to how Stand Users are drawn to each other like gravity in JoJo’s. Ford even says both he and Dipper were both drained into the town. The Bottomless Pit is said in the journal to lead to Bill’s Nightmare Realm, but the gang returned home because of the town’s weirdness magnitude.

It’s possible that the way to Bill’s realm is only one way, stuff comes in but still can’t come out. It’s also called a “Mobius Pit”, as it’s drawn like an infinity with a branch that leads to Bill’s world.
When Ford experimented on it, junk mail always returns but socks remain lost, except on Friday 13th where nothing gets lost and returns in 24 hours I think. It appeared there was no true rhythm to it and the reappearance and disappearance of items was truly random.

Besides, why would opening the rift randomly give Bill a physical form ? It didn't. He just needed to be able to physically cross to our dimension, not just with his mind.
Now my question is, if the Bottomless Pit leads from our dimension to the Nightmare Realm, couldn't Bill just use it to cross from the Nightmare Realm to our dimension with his physical body ?

The thing about the Pines family is that they share a lot of each other's traits. I think while Mabel and Stan are similar in their goofiness, Mabel shares Ford's type selfishness. They both look inward to themselves in their selfishness. Ford with his obsession with knowledge and Mabel with her want to be happy. That's pretty grating to onlookers, as it is self indulgence. Meanwhile, Stan and Dipper use their selfishness to obtain a goal they care about whether it is Stan's goal of gaining riches and getting his brother back at any cost or Dipper's obsession with mysteries and Wendy. Ford and Stan are cautionary figures for Dipper and Mabel to be aware of how their own obsessions can ruin their bond. I love flawed but relatable characters and the Pines family is all that.
Dipper should only spend summers with Ford, with Stan and Mabel there to balance the super nerdy antisocial tendencies out.

Like you said a couple episodes ago, Ford’s 12 PHDs do not equate to the proper education Dipper would get from school, even if Ford is justifiably right about the length and drudgery of school. Mabel and Dipper could have stayed in the town, stayed with Ford and Stan (or any number of others who they established relationships with), and Dipper could have learned stuff from Ford on the side, while at the same time pursuing his passion for studying supernatural things. There are so many workaround to this problem, but all of them would not allow for the "final message" of the show, which honestly seems more for Mabel than Dipper. I like the ending we got, it's just not an entirely logical conclusion.

    • @D3viant517

I think the problem is moreso how it is from Mabel’s perspective. She doesn’t really show any concern for how the apprenticeship would be for dipper, rather she’s purely being selfish and not wanting dipper to pursue something he’s interested in so he can stay with her. Then she adds insult to injury by creating dippy fresh. Granted she does eventually tell dipper he can do the apprenticeship if he wants, but that’s only after dipper pretty much tells her what she wants to hear. I don’t hate Mabel by any means and I think a lot of her feelings are justified, but I do think this entire plot point could’ve been written and communicated a lot better.

I like Mabel myself, but I can see why people would hate her given all the things we see Dipper have to give up in order to satisfy her throughout summer. I feel like a bunch of the major haters, jump on the Ford apprenticeship as SUCH a good opportunity for Dipper but fail to understand to importance of Dipper's relationship with Mabel.
Ford's intentions were noble but by offering the apprenticeship like he did, he was still repeating the same mistakes that he made with Stanley: Isolating one twin from another on some self-indulgent noble quest.
But quests and discoveries don't really matter if you don't have that relationship with your sibling; the person who knows you the best and shared your experience like no other.
Look how deeply Stan and Ford struggled on their own. Stan struggled to survive, relying on cons and grifts to survive. Ford was more financially successful but his ego and drive for discovery allowed him to manipulated by Bill and his lack of trust basically led to Bill's rise to power.
If they learned to actually talk and get over their issues, Ford could've supported Stan so he didn't have to live destitute and constantly on the run and Stan would TOTALLY tell Bill's whole schtick was BS from minute 1 and stop Ford from making a bad deal.
They failed because they weren't together and Ford, albeit unintentionally, was starting to drive that same wedge between Dipper and Mabel.
Dipper could still try an alternate method to make the whole Ford thing work, while still maintaining a healthy relationship with Mabel.
But as it stands within the framing of the show, it was something that Dipper himself had to learn to let go and realize that it wasn't nearly as important as having Mabel in his life. It's someone putting family first, over isolation in pursuit of the delusion of something grander.
So many of the haters get obsessed over who among DIpper and Mabel "sacrificed" more and who was "in the wrong" when the show itself tells you, multiple times, that it's BOTH. They both make those mistakes, they both are responsible for the conflicts in the show, they both make the reckless choices that kids do.
And as a sibling, you choose to sacrifice for each other, because you CARE about each other, and when push comes to shove, you know they'll have your back. (Obvious there are shitty siblings but that's a seperate issue.)
Dipper and Mabel are NOT bad siblings. They care for each other, they love each other, as family does. That's the whole entire point of Weirdmageddon 2.
Showing how Mabel and Dipper's bond is ever-strong, despite their squabbles and bickering. They are siblings portrayed unabashedly and realistically and I really respect it.

Personally, I don't see the issue with Dipper being Ford's apprentice (and yes, I know Alex said he'd end up like McGucket, but I call BS on that). The only problem that prevented it was Mabel getting upset, otherwise it was likely it would happen, and there were plenty of ways it could have worked out. Stan could of set up for Mabel to stay with him in Gravity Falls, after getting a new place of course. If that proved too difficult, she could stay with Soos or Wendy, or even at Candi or Grenda's. There are so many options for her to not have to go back to live with her parents that it's a little ridiculous it wasn't thought of (especially since it isn't a far stretch to think that if their parents would let Dipper stay, that they would do the same for Mabel).
I don't mind the ending we got, it's fine, but we have to be aware as viewers that it went down the way it did because Weirdmageddon HAD to happen at some point. We can also acknowledge that even if Mabel is overall a good character, this was a point where her selfishness peaks (allowing others to suffer outside her bubble for the sake of her own happiness), and cemented her on the "not exactly a good person" part of the alignment chart. Also, I guess you could say Mabel sacrifices her paradise, but it was never real to begin with, and once she snapped out of her delusion, she realized it wasn't want she wanted anyways. In the end, Dipper is the one who sacrificed more, and it was all very avoidable for the reasons above.

@@schorltourmaline4521 You call 'bull' because you're still a kid in that regard. Ford's not exactly wise. After all, Alex himself said that Weirdmageddon happened, in part, because of Ford's ego, that he, and Dipper, were the only ones to be trusted with that knowledge (under the mistake assumption that Dipper was on the exact same wavelength). If he trusted Mabel with the knowledge of the rift, Weirdmageddon wouldn't have happened because she wouldn't have taken 'Blendin's' deal.
Then again, if Ford actually told his family more about what he was dealing with and trying to stop, a LOT of things would have gone better and the rift wouldn't have been a factor to begin with. His ego clouds his better judgement since he thinks he's got all the right answers, always. Dude's a high Int build with a Wis dump stat, it's why Mr. Triangle duped him so easily. And I'm not just talking about the initial deal...
Long story short, it probably would have ended up like with McGucket because Ford doesn't need an apprentice, he needs a reality check. He doesn't need someone on the same wavelength as him, he needs someone with a different viewpoint. He needs someone focused on the emotional, who's good at dealing with people. Someone who can probably use some brains to help balance things out in exchange.

Ford has no friends, no connections, and was tricked by a scammer because he did the one thing common sense would tell you not to do: Summon demons. He, besides Bill, is the reason all of this is happening.
He should not have 100% guardianship over a pet, let alone a kid who he will mold to be exactly like him, when this kid already has no friends. Living with Ford would not be healthy. It would just be Ford 2.0.

@@LordTyph No, I call bull because Dipper spent all summer dealing with supernatural phenomenon and didn't go insane, even BEFORE he met Ford. If he was to be with Ford, learning from a (whether you like this title for Ford or not) expert in the field would in no way make things harder to grasp to the point he would go insane. We even see what happens if Dipper and Ford team up, and it brought out the best in Dipper.
I didn't even bring up the "Ford cause Weirdmageddon" thing, cause not what I'm talking about. I am strictly talking about Dipper staying with Ford, and how it's a viable option, despite Alex's opinion (which is flawed, and probably only exists to be yet another means to try and get people off Mabel's case). If Dipper stayed with Ford (specifically in Gravity Falls, as was the plan) he could have gone to normal school, while still learning from Ford about the paranormal, a field that Ford does have intimate knowledge about, and Dipper could integrate into his own way of doing things.
McGucket ended up as he did because he was a computer programmer/engineer who didn't know crap about the paranormal before he went to Gravity Falls, to the point Gnomes freaked him out. Dipper could handle dealing with a literal eldritch god. I don't understand how you think he'd go nuts after encountering practically every sci-fi and horror concept ever conceived, and coming out the other end not more disturbed as when he started. I guess visual evidence to the contrary is not enough for you.
But hey, instead of even approaching the notion that there are ways this could work, just keep repeating tired "Ford bad, because Alex said so" arguments that half the fan base have been repeating for over ten years, because you have no actual thoughts of your own. I can see who is the real child in this, since your first response to someone giving an opinion different from yours was what amounts to "name calling".

I hate how they handled Mable. Blind Eye, she was considering memory wiping herself but learned that it's worth growing strong to endure life's hardships rather than getting addicted to unhealthy escapism. Sock Opera, she learns that she isn't the only person in the world and that other people have their own lives and wants, and that if she wishes to maintain the positive relationships she already has she needs appreciate them and make her own sacrifices too.
And yet at the very end here she is, willingly lost in an escapism fantasy with a "fuck 'em all, I got mine" attitude like those episodes never happened. Considering Dipper spent basically the entire series supporting Mable, Dippy-Fresh is possibly one of the most insulting things she could've created. All this happening after she supposedly learns her lessons on being a better person is just bad writing. They should've actually let her learn the lessons she learnt, tricked by Bill one last time but now strong and resilient enough to give him trouble, even from the inside of her bubble. Or intentionally keep Mable childish, unintentionally self absorbed/selfish for the whole series and then have Weirdmageddon be her moment of redemption and ultimate lesson in humility and maturity, the twins now now not only back together but each stronger in their own way to take Bill down.
I loved seeing Dipper mature from a scrawny little shit into a proper young adult. Mable proving that she never matured at all til the very end almost ruins the finale for me, no matter what excuses are given in the books or whatever. Gravity Falls was an easy 9/10 show before Weirdmageddon but this episode in particular leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh boy this episode... Now, people have already gone back and forth on whether Ford's deal would be good for Dipper, but this... Come on dude... After a whole series of Dipper having to give up things for Mabel (and Mabel supposedly learning her lesson to not do that in Sock-Opera) the lesson here being "I'm sorry I wanted literally anything for myself that didn't revolve around you. You were right to get angry at me for following my dreams" is just so... Unsatisfying. Like, Dipper isn't the one who screwed up. Mabel was the one who had an over-the-top reaction to his deal with Ford (It was understandable why she did, but it's still a screw-up on her part)
And before anyone says that Mabel said he could take Ford's offer but he didn't... This is a TV show. It was written. By writers. They could've just... Not written it that way. It wouldn't be out of character AND it would have been a more satisfying parallel to the older Pines twins. What happens here is basically the equivalent of saying "Ford was wrong for wanting to go to college, he should've stayed and gone on the boat with Stan." If the ending was instead Mabel and Dipper learning to compromise and continue to communicate and be close even though they're long-distance, that would've been more interesting, because those things are what Stan and Ford failed to do.
And for the record, this is literally my only complaint with this show. I genuinely consider it to be one of the most perfect things ever produced, and this is just a blemish on it.

Mabel never really does anything against the apprenticeship, even her wish would only allow the two to be together for a little while longer “just a little more summer”, she’s a kid and from her perspective her world was crashing down when she learned she would be alone (again her perspective).
It’s not giving in to demands, Dipper just realized he was living a fantasy trying to grow up to fast, one that would have ended in solitude. The difference between Fords college and Dippers apprenticeship is that only one has a good outcome and it’s not Dippers, Ford had too many issues to be a proper teacher, he would encourage isolation

    2. A Backstory about a girl in sitcom Explaining why she has a FEAR of Roses thanks to a Traumatic event with them, that being this Story.

It recently occured to me if Ford saying in a previous episode that Gravity Falls is a magnet for things that are weird could have been forshadowing that a force attracts weird things to Gravity Falls would keep things like Bill in Gravity Falls it might even be related to the spaceship from that episode.
But more importantly it was such a heartfelt moment to see Dipper and Mabel make up the way they did espescially with those flashbacks! Mabel did make me a little mad in this episode but then it hit me in this video Dipper said that Bill had Mabel hypnotized or something and Alicialife said he didn't. A lot of people even Mabel defenders think Mabel is fully aware of what is going on and clearly she is mostly aware but when the spell breaks Mabel says "have I really been listening to the same song all week?" so Bill did have Mabel at least a little hypnotized. Nobody else in the show suspected and most of the fans didn't suspect it but Mabel was a little hypnotized and Dipper was the only one who knew her well enough to notice! He is such a good brother and it is times like that that make me wish I had a sibling sometimes.

I, to this day, have never received a legitimate valentine or flowers or confession that wasn’t like a dare or bet or something similar. I’m the “I dare you to go give her a valentine card” person. Like just, I’m not upset that you, Alicia, or anyone else reading, got that many valentines or roses but it just… so extremely foreign to me that I’d react the same way Alicia did, maybe worse, if I received even a single flower like that.
Also sorry to dump that in a TH-cam comment, Y’all can uh, head back to scrolling now.

His real dad was never around to play it with him and Stan isn't really a play catch type of dude. He's definitely more of a play fetch type of dude :D

Then again i was in a place where "redneck" life and sports reigned supreme so as the guy who didnt fuck with that i guess i got on peoples badsides by default or something. Or maybe its cuz i was the cringy nerd kid playing by myself idk point is people despised me lol.

Yeah I truly wish the storyboard of Dipper Snapping Dippy Fresh's neck were a real thing in this show cuz i feel like that was justified since Dippy isn't real. And also MABEL WHAT THE HELL?! A more SUPPORTIVE brother??? Dipper has been doing everything he can for you all summer! How can you say he hasn't been supportive?! Sorry i just had to get that out, being a brother to a entitled sister myself this episode gives me issues to vent over.

32:56 there a sad theory because of these dudes that everything ever since they poped the bubble is still a dream world, since these 2 dudes were part of matrix and everyone just in double pocket dimension, it's hard to believe they got out of pocket dimension by poping it from inside
And it makes a lot of sense since after this they defeated bill cipher but there a lot of details that make their win a dream-like

Where I went to school they had a rule that if you got anyone valentine's candy you had to bring it for everyone, so fortunately I never had that situation where I didn't get anything, but I knew where I stood anyway. The only time anyone has ever expressed romantic interest in me was as a joke, where the punchline was how undatable I was.
People didn't outright hate me, but nobody ever wanted to be friends with me, much less something more. I was always nice to people, maybe a little awkward but I think that was effect more than cause. It fucked with my confidence severely, still to this day.

The Valentine thing is so weird, cause where I went to school everyone in class was required to get Valentine's for everyone else in class. So literally EVERY SINGLE PERSON got the same number of Valentine's. It took me until my late teens to realize Valentine's Day was anything more than just a day you give cards to every single person you know. 😅

She gives him the key to the spare room because she comes to understand that her sleepovers are having a negative effect on him, and ruins her own play/date chances because she wants to make it up to Dipper for being selfish.
