  • Austal’s Offshore Patrol 83 is a new steel vessel design derived from a proven platform that has demonstrated success operating in tropical environments and conducting border patrol and maritime operations.
Featuring an aviation deck enabling helicopter and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) missions, the OP83 is also fitted with a mission bay and aft storage areas to facilitate the embarkation of containerised mission modules.
The vessel is arranged with a starboard boat deck and stern well for the safe and rapid launch and recovery of Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boats (RHIBs).

Buying and Building Australian has to be a major priority of the Australian Government, this will generate greater exports and co-operation with pacific partners, the Austal design is superior is fantastic compared with defenses current selection

They may have got their render looking pretty good.... Their ships however... Pretty shitty to be honest

It didn't win PhN's OPV project. But if it'll be stretched to 90+ meters esp 100+ meters, it might win on PhCG's additional patrol ships. OP83 has wider beam & covered superstructure sides, so they can complement PhCG's modified kunigami having narrow beam ratio & open superstructure sides. But better to include a collapsible cradle for the rhib, space for centerline aftgun...

Agreed. The Cape Class Patrol Boat which is the smaller version of this works like a charm.

Offer this to the Philippine Coast Guard and build this in Cebu. The PN needs more powerful and bigger ships.

it actually be coast guard vessels, but its ongoing modifications, PCG is waiting for final design, but its more likely the main guns will be either removed or replace with bofor 57mm gun, the rcws will be replace with manual operating guns. and ramp will be remove so it can accomodate for mission modules for disaster relief and rescue missions. there is also talks of having hangar, so it may get extend from 83 meter to 90 meters. well its a 17 billion pesos project for 3 ships, so they better be equipped with hangars and main guns, or its just a rip off.
