FDC Presidential Flagbearer Debate between Mugisha Muntu and Kizza Besigye

On 30th August NTV in collaboration with the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda broadcast a live debate between the two contenders for the FDC Flagbearer position in the 2016 Presidential Election-Party President Gregory Mugisha Muntu and his immediate predecessor and 3 time presidential aspirant Kizza Besigye.
The topics debated included internal party issues, elections, democracy, The Democratic Alliance, education, health, governance and even the thorny issue of gay rights.

It's humbling to note that our politics as a country is taking baby steps to transitional takeovers. The debate, the first of its kind since His Excellence President Yoweri Museveni took power in 1986 shows their is light ahead of the tunnel. Through such debates as a country we shall become a nation for our thinking will be challenged to better Mother Uganda. I don't affiliate to any party for I still think we have a long way to go to follow our brethren in Tanzania a little with Kenya. I am non violent and for the development of our country's ideas we should ensure that 2016 is a success for all those involved. To me a lot was missed out or scratched on the surface as both candidates didn't want to spoil their chances to be flag bearers of the FDC. The challenge is thrown to the ruling party, can they out beat the opposition and come up with something more entertaining and engaging? The minds of the citizenry of Uganda would look up to that debate. We are one as Ugandans and no one should divide us just for a tick along side their name. For God and My Country Uganda. A good beginning towards political dialogue - the quality on policies and issues is however wanting - they (policies and issues) seem to be after thoughts to politicking - opposition does not have clear alternative policies or issues on which to run a campaign on other than to get rid of Museveni - They need to get back to the drawing table and engage serious Think Tanks as to where the country should be going and how it can be made competitive thus leading to development - until they can clearly differentiate themselves in these aspects from the ruling party then will they be taken serious and considered a serious government in the waiting.
