I have the Neca model and I'm pretty happy with it, to be honest. I was just glad you can extend the legs on the Neca model too, that was one of the main things I looked for. The new Hot Toys model is fantastic, but it's beyond affordability and justification for me unfortunately, and it's only going to get more expensive. I wish money was no object for me, and then I may get one.
I used to work as a *production key grip in the early 90s* and he meaning the production start date, not the theatrical release date, all movies in Hollywood usually start 2 to 3 years before its confirmed on its completion mark date, so say for instance a movie was to begin production in 1995, the movie would typically wrap around 1997 or 98 depending on reshoots and actor availability, and or production malfunctions, which I hated the most., we had to fix and shop for fx crews a lot due to broken sets, or wardrobe.
This is not an in-depth look at film production. Trust me, he just f'd up. These people with the massive subscriber numbers just get sent freebies then pretend they've always been into said freebie.
I hope these people appreciate how much they have. I watched them literally feed $600 into a vending machine. I can barely afford to eat right now. Watching someone show and tell a multi hundred dollar toy, just seems so surreal. I wonder if there's a hacker community to make these into actual robots like they do with Johnny Five.
he's talking about when the movie production wrapped it was 1985 then it was sent to a studio for edit and time cuts etc, and press events for the actors prior to its actual theatrical debut which was 1987. this is how that date and product postmark all Hollywood movies!
Hey Norm, minor correction: They call them Puppets for stop motion animation. Not Maquettes. Maquettes are just static statues. C'mon man. You should know this. Heh. I was lusting after that Neca Ed-209 recetly. You'll probly love the Hoth Probe Droid Sideshow did.
I had the NECA but returned it due to receiving it with broken elements and the sound effect talking feature was inaudible. so wanted it but for $8 it sound work and not arrive broken.
That is not how they do it they make a sculpture they scan it on a machine and then they break it apart in pieces on the computer the computer put the input into the machine on how to print the pieces into a Resin or plastic injection mold
The worst thing about the Hot Toys one was the awful sound effects, they used some random dude trying to sound like the movie, but it's terrible! The NECA one uses actual samples from the movie.
I love tested and all the things you guys show. But just about the editing, when you are saying "And if you look here..." you should show what we are supposed to be looking at. More times than not you are showing something completely different. It is very frustrating.
Not Mad cat.. Maquette ...A maquette (French word for scale model, sometimes referred to by the Italian names plastico or modello) is a small scale model or rough draft of an unfinished sculpture.
i tried to watch it, but, when it went from him being himself in a robot body to becoming the robocop with no emotion it just went became pointless as they could have skipped all the crap from the start and so i gave up lol, should i go back and watch the last 50 min i think?
What kind of fan are you, that you don't even know Robocop was released in 1987? It makes you seem fake. And now I cannot even watch the rest of your video.
What I love about this video is that it gave me more than 20 seconds to comply.
The thumbnail looks like the larger ED is comforting the smaller ED, cute.
Im not saying they should make this into an rc walking robot but they should make this into an rc walking robot.
Someone needs to talk to Robosen about this.
I'll buy that for a dollar!
I wanna teach mine how to go down the stairs.
And not squel like a pig?
and cry like pork when it is down fall

When you spend $400 on something like this I think you have the right to complain about it.
Life-sized Mad Cat? I wish!
Nice looking models either way.
I always wanted one of these on my desk.
Ed 209 never aged... it looks so realistic that the design will pass even ontu this day
4:33 DANGEROUS 'SUBTANCES' ? Not surprised new decals were needed...
1987 not 85

ED 209 is the most awesome robot ever
There's a vinyl version that came out about 30 years ago from Japan, it's in 5 pieces that snap together and is about 9" and pretty cool.
I had a feeling the design was inspired from the enemy battle pods of Macross/Robotech Saga of the 1980s.
1987 - Do your homework fool...!!! (and thanks for the great video...)
I'm still waiting on the R/C version. WTH? When's that gonna be available?
0:16 Robocop came out in 87

The rubber dome cracks over time on the hot toys ED-209.
excellent review buddy.have the neca one,its pretty good for $80 toy.
What kind of watch do you wear?
Three zero will b giving us new ed-209....ready fight!
how does the neca compare to the horizon vinyl kit?
Doesn't 1/6th mean if you stack them on top of each other, they'll be as tall as the real one? Seems kinda short =\
yes, it should be about 14 inches high, or 35 cm approx. The point is they operate inside so they fit in doorways. Not that big.
Where do I get those stickers!!?
Why are all ED-209 toys light blue? They were silver-grey in the movie
I'm looking forward to the Hiya Toys figure as well.
I managed to grab both of these when they came out at MRSP, before the scalpers came and make them impossible to get.
I Want One of Those.

1985?? Designed by Phil Tippett studio??
Im pretty certain the dome of ED209 was part of a microphone from Radioshack / Tandy
Does the larger model have sound?
Yes. But compared to the Neca toy, it doesn't sound like it's actually from the movie. Side by side, the Neca one sounds like ED 209
Id really like to see a decent version of an AT-AT or a Tiberian shuttle :-)
The Hot toys Ed209 doesn't use the film accurate voice, but the NECA figure does
Where can I find that shirt?
I had the NECA but returned it due to receiving it with broken elements and the sound effect talking feature was inaudible. so wanted it but for $8 it sound work and not arrive broken.
I did thumbs up but still it has no rockets on his right gun?
The hot toys model is going for over 1000 online now.
I'd buy that for a dollar!
You don’t know the value and I think you don’t have money’s
Not to be a pedant, but it came out in 87 not 85.
1987.
Put your weapon you have 20 seconds to comply! 💥
@@gmodmarine "You now have 10 seconds to comply!"
$400!? It better be RC and be able to walk down stairs!
I want one
"that reboot" came out this year.
the NECA figure is actually far more film accurate than the Hot Toys figure. the HT one is mostly cool because it's big and uses multiple materials.
For $500, it would have to actually be autonomous, intelligent, and useful to get me interested.
Yess
ROBOCOP CAME OUT IN 1987! this is the second video where he gets the date wrong..
That is not how they do it they make a sculpture they scan it on a machine and then they break it apart in pieces on the computer the computer put the input into the machine on how to print the pieces into a Resin or plastic injection mold
in the original Robocop what gun does Robocop use in the shooting range scenes....
Modified Beretta 93R according to imfdb.
87 norm 1987
The rubber parts crack in less then a year!
thats fine people can always mold the original ones to make rubber replacements.
Mine has cracked also but i quite like it weirdly but.... Mine no longer powers up as the power switch has gone rusty....
At $400 I'd expect it to be able to walk about and do things much like Robosapien
I think it is a chicken with guns in its hands!😆😰🔫🐔
Neca wins
wow, wow, wow...so amazing, a must have toy.. !! cool
Please let them walk xD... lol
1987* ... not 85
Can you say where we can 80 dollar ? Please
The worst thing about the Hot Toys one was the awful sound effects, they used some random dude trying to sound like the movie, but it's terrible! The NECA one uses actual samples from the movie.

1987*
for 400 shouldn't it be metal
The original Robocop came out in 1987 and the remake came out this year not last year. Nice vid, but get your shit together Norm.
Don't talk to me or my son ever again.
PORTAL GUN!!!!!!!
much robot
The ED-209 is also called "mad cat" ?
as in the mechwarrior similar mech?
...wow...
Not Mad cat.. Maquette ...A maquette (French word for scale model, sometimes referred to by the Italian names plastico or modello) is a small scale model or rough draft of an unfinished sculpture.
oh! didn't listened well then, thank you!
These look like cheep children's toys - never been a fan of the design..
not good enough for a 1k price tag on amazon.
🤤🤤🤤😳😳😳😍😍😍 I want. But must be good.
1987
@Robocop@
Rubber dries and cracks over time, plastic becomes dry and brittle for $400 I'd prefer diecast
~robocop~
^Robocop^
if you are gonna charge $400, you should be able to spell substance lol
-Robocop-
*ROBOCOP*
does anybody like the new movie? :-D
Hodor :(
i tried to watch it, but, when it went from him being himself in a robot body to becoming the robocop with no emotion it just went became pointless as they could have skipped all the crap from the start and so i gave up lol, should i go back and watch the last 50 min i think?
Christopher Parsons no, just rewatch the old one^^
nudl3Zz just for the line 'Dead or alive you're coming with me' I shall rewatch it %)
Christopher Parsons I'd buy that for a dollar!
Shit models.. why can't these bullshit companies make us folk 1:1 scale models.. now those are collectors..
What kind of fan are you, that you don't even know Robocop was released in 1987? It makes you seem fake. And now I cannot even watch the rest of your video.
oh dear god...i only just now realized what the "ED" stands for...🙄🙄🙄
U,cj
400 bucks for a toy is a bit much, for me I would rather spend it on other things
So overpriced.
$80 for the neca is still overpriced.
I've seen it for 40-50 $
@@jerronvandepol5319 bargain
Norm your years is off. Reboot is not last years it's this year Get your crap info right dude and yes that pimples is nasty
Nice no one liked the reboot
1987.
*Robocop*
