  • Halloumi cheese is an important part of Cypriot culture, and has found worldwide popularity. The soft cheese - made from sheep or goat milk - is a real all-rounder. It is used for both classic and modern recipes, and can be part of savory dishes like burgers and wraps, or sweet creations such as fruit salads. Where exactly, and by whom, it was first produced remains a mystery to this day.

Halloumi is big business, the new protections/regulations are very controversial and probably need a video of their own. The bottom line is that once people try halloumi they love it because it’s so delicious and has a wonderful bouncy texture.

Can anyone recommend a style of wine for Cypriot Halloumi cheese?

@Luis Zayas Try a light fruity well chilled white wine. Rosé wine also goes very well with it! (next to grilled vegetables and Flatbread!)

Goats and sheep milk. Makes the best halloumi. No cows milk

I love Halloumi though becoming Vegan i have the Vegan/Plant Based ones my favourite being Violife Mediterranean. Just like normal Halloumi it goes well with Falafel.

Btw vegan cheese and vegan products in general kill the body. I quit eating anything vegan and now focus on healthy. Came here now when going through rejecting halloumi. Body has been farting since i ate it & fart stink like death exposing the halloumi's nature and been drinking hot water to flush myself. Making laxative now cos my stomach hurts. Serves me right after not touching any cheese for years.

These ancient products must be preserved. Big Inc has soiled so many byegone classics
There is nothing more futile in life than a Franken pulp blob excuse like processed cheese

I don't mean to be a buzzkill, but there is no such thing as "western cyprus" and "northern cyprus". It's kind of a big deal here because, you know, war crimes and stuff

It's Arab cheese, even same name, but instead of H, we say ح lol. However, we don't like it much, and we consonsider it a cheap type of cheeses.

    this is a clutural plagiraisim
when you take something from ottoman empire and ots countries (turkey syria palestine lebanon jordan) and you claim that it os a western culture . you should feel ashamed of how cheaply you misguide you respectful audiences.

In the video it literally said that halloumi cheese was influenced by Arab invaders in the 7th century. Watch the whole video before you judge.
