I once went on a school holiday in 1982. We visited this cheese place and when offered nobody else wanted to try it. I did and it was amazing,I still remember it now.Loved it. I put 4 different cheeses in my Mac and cheese casserole, and gruyere is one of them. It’s so DELICIOUS. I’ve made it a habit to keep a block of gruyere cheese in my fridge. It tastes great on anything.😋
As a Swiss living in Switzerland I can concur this video is correct. It's absolutely necessary to use gruyère to make a good fondue as the main cheese choice then you can add some Appenzeller and a little bit of Emmentaler. (And don't forget the kirsch!)
I just tasted gruyere for the first time, 12-month aged. I guess that's what people mean when they say nutty. Has some fruity notes to it. Very different than the cheeses I usually eat, but it's very nice.
This just explains why I’ve always been drawn to this beautiful country aside from New Zealand.... CHEESEEEEEE (not to mention the jaw-dropping scenery and chocolates)
This is my new favorite cheese! It has a fruity aftertaste like you're eating a ripe jackfruit or a durian candy! I'm even eating the Gruyere cheese right now!
Gruyere is my favorite cheese! It has the best taste especially the smoked gruyere! You can find it a you local grocery store deli in Boarshead brand!!! 😍
What kind of a restaurant hires tattooed people as chefs??? That is disgraceful ! I would never eat at any supposed highly valued restaurant with tattooed workers. No heavily tattooed people should be chefs, it's absolutely disgraceful and non-presentable for such a line of work !
I recently used this to make scalloped potatoes for a family dinner. They were a hit. I tasted the cheese alone later and found it to be delicious, albeit very expensive here.
I lived there until I was 6 years old in the Gruyeres village (the original town where they make it) and nearly the whole village smelled like Gruyeres cheese
You don't want to know what part of everything you eat every day someone has touched with their bare hands at some point, unless you only eat industrially manufactured things. Okay, they're definitely healthier then. Just for info, we have clean(!) water, soap, disinfectant for hand cleaning.
"Fribourg near Geneva". Sorry what ?! (I GET that we are small and that if you live in the UK or the USA it is "close" but for us Swiss, an hour and a half long drive is not close at all ;) Aaah the joys of being a tiny country)
I am a great consumer of cheese on my own prepared Pizzas, but in India I have not been fortunate enough to eat cheese in this form. It is marketed in small quantities and yet goes a long way. Yet though I have read about Le Guyere cheese been a Geography student but never eaten any kind of European cheeses.
I wish the names of the cheeses would pop up when she first mentions them. It would help contextualize and for us to google search later. and I mean besides mentioning Gruyere.
Never heard of this type of cheese till I came a cross a recipe for 5 cheese Mac & Cheese in a slow cooker recipe book... it's the only mac&cheese I eat now lol
My understanding is that Switzerland and the EU "share" their certificate. At least certain Swiss cheese is protected in the EU. (For example, Swiss Emmentaler, which is made from raw milk as well.)
That's how it is, and yet there were some "very intelligent" people who thought that the size of the holes had to be limited, of course, whoever gets cheese with larger holes is at a disadvantage. 😆😂🤣
I love how structured and proud these cheese makers are.

"If someone makes fake gruyere, we find them and attack them" 😅
brúh
You don't play with the Mafia Gruyere! 😂
I can confirm this is real. I am Swiss and I can't stand fake Gruyère. I will not accept to eat it if its not from the origin of Gruyère 😅
The fake Gruyère copycats are easy to identify. They don’t have the same taste, texture or aroma!

To this day, I don't know what "nutty" taste like, whether in cheese or coffee.
nutty is that distinct taste in brown butter
@array s in what world is swiss cheese exotic
She likes nuts.
did you see the animation of emperor? it def looks like “nutting”

Why do you think she describes all your cheese products as nutty? Is it really nutty?
@@aubreybondoc Some cheeses have nutty notes and it can also depend on the level of maturity.

I love Gruyère cheese! I always have to have it with onion soup
A good gruyère is unbelievable.
Absolutely amazing cheese. From a French/Italian man.
French and Italians have their fair share of awesome cheese too!
I visited gruyere back in 2016, it was really nice, especially the castle of top of it and the cheese fondue with baby hard boiled potatoes 👌
Absolutely, Gruyere fondue with potatoes, I (as a Swiss) don't know of a more perfect, enjoyable combination. 👍

Luke Johnson made it last weekend. Sooooo good!! Just make a roux and add the guyere for a mornay sauce, then dump in the pasta. Its awesome
Sounds like upscale mac and cheese to me. SOunds good.

OMG, I've been to the gruyere's cheese factory in gruyeres, switzerland. Went to the exact same restaurant
Imagine how expensive all of them combined are
My guess $1000 per block.
Actually that cheese is way more then a thousand per block. Parmesan is 40k in the US per block
@@RedMoonsEcho Price in the US are well off, a wheel of gruyére is between 25 and 40kg and it cost betwen 20 and 40$ per kilo, I let you do the math.
I am eating this cheese for the first time. I love the scent and taste.
Love it ! always a Gruyére and a good bottle of wine in my fridge

Pasta is supposed to be eaten with Parmigiano, not Gruyère... And you are probably eating French Gruyère. :P
@@KelGhu French one is superior.

Why u not remember it properly tho. -_-
Gruyère was never shown on Tom and Jerry... You're thinking of Emmentaler.
It's emmental
