It makes my heart swell seeing how this diver helped this beautiful creature, and what’s even more amazing is that the mantas knew he was helping him/her and waited patiently for him to finish. Thank you to this diver for being an awesome human being ❤️

JW Skeptic well unless your hunting as well, and PLAN ON EATING THE ANIMAL! (I don’t have a problem with us killing animals for food, we need to eat as well and many other predators hunt as well, I just have a problem when they kill an animal for no other reason than to hang up a trophy or just because, and let the animals death be a waste)
@@savagebeastxl9670 The problem is exponential human population growth coupled to pollution, climate change, destruction of habit, over fishing etc etc - there are no rules that govern our species behavior to ensure we behave responsibly particularly in open water. @WolraadWoltemade 1652 Yes people can be so cruel to each other and animals too. I pray that you will find good people in your life. There really are still so many good, light filled and loving people on our planet. I just want you to know that even though we have never met, I wish you joy and love in this world! @WolraadWoltemade 1652 I do understand. I have been watching Africa Addio tonight. Men are capable of doing terrible things. This documentary(?) shows a very cruel side of life to be sure. I am asking, what have you witnessed? I am a Christian and men killed Jesus Christ brutally along with 1000's of others. Christ forgave his own murderers from the cross. My best friend went to Ethiopia during the famine, along with a big group of other people. They went all over the world and prayed for a country for a solid week. When they arrived there, they were astounded to find all of the food aid piled high along the entire runway. 3 stories high! Rotting in the sun! The communist government there kept the food from all of those poor people and let all of them starve slowly to death! I never fail to be surprised at how low and cruel mankind can be to each other. I am not afraid of your anger, but it will turn into a disease like mine if you can't forgive and let it go. I have been sick and in agony for 33 years. I have known much cruelty. But I pray that you will find peace and love in your heart! I am not trying to convert you. I was angry and bitter for years and I choose love! I know there are evil people and there are good people too. I sincerely pray that you will find peace and love in your heart, my friend.
I just wanted to say thank you to all of the amazing people who go out there to save innocent animals out in the ocean and on land too. I'm disabled and can't get out but, knowing that you are out there helps me so much!
That's exactly what I was thinking! It probably gets itchy from parasites, and figured out if it lets fish nibble on it the itch goes away. They probably felt the itch from the line, and was like oh that swimming thing is interested in the string, it's probably a string eating fish, i'll let it do it's thing
Kindness it's like a boomerang, it's returns🤗 Thank you so much for saving this gentle giant manta ray. Bless your kind soul and your team. Be careful out there.
I know he would of wanted us to love and appreciate these beautiful marine animals. Despite what he died from he would of told us it was just an accident , and they are practically harmless if you respect their ecosystem and boundaries.
I mean... a lot of large marine animals get rid of parasites by letting smaller fish pick them off anyways. This could simply be an extension of that behaviour.
@@firstnamelastname8439 Good point but unlike a familiar little fish, the person was a sizable creature that moved and acted in a way that was completely foreign. The manta ray had to very quickly figure out if the human was dangerous or not then intuit the possibility that he or she was there for a benign reason. That takes, imho, a lot of brainpower. Unless, perhaps, the manta was in so much pain that it had decided to give up, submit to whatever crossed its path and got lucky that day. 🤷🏻♀️
Any creature that puts up with momentary discomfort/pain for an eventual reward (such as being disentangled or free from a persistent minor pain) is DEFINITELY intelligent; they're showing that they understand cause and effect and can make predictions/projections about the future based on how things are currently, and that they have such a clear idea of what the result will be that they'll override their instinctive reactions to pain in order to obtain that result (which is NOT easy to do, even for humans).
I don't think it's just an animal. They are beautiful sweet creatures that amaze so many people like me. I have a huge place in my heart for manta Rays, sting Rays, and bat rays.
Thank u all so so much for helping her. It meant so much to me, and I’m positive it meant the world for her too. A man or womans worth is based on how they treat those who are under them.
@@ThatOneDude248 OR just cut away line from boats so it drops off into the water, and drags out into the Ocean for sea created a NOT on the menu to get caught on. This is NOT acceptable for most reasons. When line was more expensive, fishermen took care to KEEP their lines. Stop offering excuses to do better.
He really did stay in place! He could’ve panicked and swam away, he could’ve become defensive, but he just stayed. They’re smarter than we give them credit for.
It never ceases to amaze me that wild animals, especially those underwater which have very little to do with humans on a daily basis, will come up to divers and ask for help, or will stay as still as they can if a diver starts to remove the fishing line or worse, the net. It's like they can tell that if at all possible, the diver _will_ help, but not only that, won't hurt them. It's sort of eerie, but at the same time, magical. I've heard those mantas can grow to over 2m, but it's only when they're bigger than a human do you really get to put that into some sort of perspective. Magnificent creatures.
Manta Rays are fully aware of these things and is why this one stopped. They're used to reef cleaning stations (parasite eating fish). This diver was another cleaning station.

I agree Gwen. This brought me to tears and a deep sense of love for this person who rescued this beautiful creature.
thank you! so the manta was a girl and she was never sighted before and was named "madee" in the end!
I imagine she thought of him like those fish that eat parasites, some humans are just fish that eat human junk

Leave nothing but footprints
Take nothing but pictures
Kill nothing but time
