Art of guitar always pops up in the comment section of awesome music. And yes this is extremely painful to watch. He's so free with his vocals on earlier performances, this one is just so rigid and forced. You can tell her wasn't enjoying it, the band wasn't enjoying it and the crowd didn't seem to feel it much either :(
For all of those who think substance abuse improves performance, just witness Shannon struggling to sing a song that 2 years before he sang so beautifully and effortlessly. I have tears in my eyes watching this great talent fade and die. RIP Shannon, you could have been so much more, but thank you for the short period when you were brilliant.
Why did no one step up and help him? I mean FORCE him to rehab and help him straighten out his life? He was somebody. He would have been a dad to his baby.

The guitarist, face down the whole time, knowing the condition of Shannon. Holding shit together, although Shannon never missed a beat. He was almost bragging in front of the band that yes, he can do it while under the influence. To his defence, his vocal performance was, as almost always, on point. Bless
It does look like there’s quite a bit of tension especially at the beginning. It almost seems like he even goes into it purposefully hard and flourishy, kinda supports what you were saying. Just a couple bars into the verse it starts to loosen up though, there’s a shot of the bass player almost begrudgingly smiling

Some people do everything wrong and have the world in their hands, while others do everything right and have nothing. The world is like that.. A lot of talent and a lot of weakness. Only a few can handle success.
I love his sound here, but people are probably commenting on how his voice is kind of scratchy and shot sounding. When you listen to him perform even just a few years before this concert his voice is butter smooth. I think his voice was in pretty bad shape here as was the rest of him at this point, but I always liked the way he sounded in this performance, the scratchy harshness to his voice gives the song new character.
Shannon loved life and was excited for the future but he was very tired and stressed out from working on the record release, birth of his daughter, Rolling Stone saying Soup was a flop which also took a toll on him mentally, plus throw touring on top of that and general press duties. He wanted to get through it so he could have a break and be with his family but it became easy for him to get a quick fix in hopes of keeping him going with such a busy schedule like he did so many times in the past but it just caught up with him. He lives forever now as a young musician who will continue touching lives and serves as an example of how beautiful, talented and underrated of a human he was and how drugs can be a costly, painful and irreversible mistake. RIP Shannon
