They talk about the highs and lows of Martine's showbiz career, from being expelled from stage school to being signed by Polydor Records with her band Milan. Martine also discusses the intense pressure of being a child actress, her ME diagnosis, and falling out of love with the industry... until she landed her dream role opposite Hugh Grant in Love Actually!

The press used to paint Martine as a diva. Watching this interview I was blown away. Martine Is a genuinely lovely person with a great sense of humour.
Martine looking and sounding as if no time has passed at all. I think of her as a wholly underused actor. She has more talent than most casting directors give her credit for. Thank you Rob for this interview.
Casting directors aren't looking for talent. They look for a look. It's not a play, it's a movie, or tv show, and they'll do as many takes as it takes to get a satisfactory shot. Unless you're absolutely terrible, then you get replaced. Talent helps, but it only greases the wheel. The wheel will turn without it.
Being an American I was first exposed to Martine in Love Actually. Even after all this time her performance still shines in an all star cast. All the best to Martine and also of course to the great Rob Brydon (bit of advice - keep on your career path and avoid porn).
But imagine what he could do with "the little man in a box"...

I was smitten with Martine the moment I saw her on screen in Love Actually, & that's saying something when you consider how many beautiful actresses were in that film. Her smile still makes me a little less grumpy.
What a joy Martine is. Great bants and what a sweetheart. Her voice seems almost angelic to me - sort of a tinkling tone. She got good vibes, I totally enjoyed seeing her on this. And omg Rob Rydon (as he shall now be known) is hysterical

Fantastic interview with Martine from erm Rob Rydon😆. Martine always seems such a lovely down to earth person. I'm 42 i've basically had a crush on her since i was 16 when she was in Eastenders. I admit despite the tragedy of Tiffany's death, 10 minutes later i was heading for the pub to celebrate New Year's Eve. Perfect Moment is still one of my favourite songs and Love Actually is in my top 20 films.

I have watched that movie a few times and it gets worse every time...and I have female friends that agree...the cheesiest overdone movie ever made....Four Weddings was great though !!!

I must say I really liked her 2017 album (Lost and Found.) Wasn't much of a hit, but it's very good.

I was talking to some of the crew in Theatre Royal Drury Lane when they were doing ‘My fair lady’ in 2001, with Martine McCutcheon and Jonathan Pryce.
During the first rehearsal Pryce entered the stage and started doing his thing, and McCutcheon said “excuse me, who are you?”
The crew, cast and Mr Pryce were not impressed.

That’s because it’s the only notable thing she did outside of Eastenders. Her career didn’t go where she hoped.
@@DeepScreenAnalysisPeople like you love to talk others down and find the worst. Martine was beset by ill health and her CFS and Lyme disease saw her barely able to get out of bed. Heaven forbid you ever suffer with illness in your life. I'd say Martine has achieved things most aspiring actors and singers would dream of, tv success, no 1 song and top 10 singles, a Laurence Olivier award and a well known movie. Those are not achievements to be sneered. Try being a nicer person, you maybe less miserable.

not true she got on very well with the core cast of Eastenders during her era. she was like a daughter to Barbara Windsor and was very close to Ross Kemp and Patsy Palmer.
