I was just talking to my teenage son about this today! Many mothers are seen as the “goto” for things needed and when Ill. Many fathers are seen as the “fun” parent-even if they deliver all/most punishments. Roles have changed somewhat throughout the years and there may be some role reversal or more “shared” roles. I do realize the this is not true for many families. Just an observation over the years that I have observed either in my family.
Some of those assumptions are really making me wonder why people think the way they do. Y'all are a beautiful family and I see y'all as an inspiration to young parents. Keep the swimming up, it’s an essential life skill. My eldest daughter started at 7 mths old. She is 11yo and she is about to finish all swimming levels. My younger daughter due to Covid hasn’t had many swimming lessons. It’s so important they know how swim, it can save their life one day. You guys are so cute :)

As someone who has been alcohol abstinent most of my life, I’m going to describe in gory detail why being abstinent rocks. 1. Wine tastes like rotten fruit, because that is what it is. Controlled rotting, aka fermentation, where the digestion of the fruit sugars by yeast is encouraged, creates the alcohol. The reason it must be carefully controlled is because if it is not, the yeast will die too soon in its own toxic waste. 2. The “fun” part of getting drunk is where inhibitions are lowered to the point of no longer caring, even to the point of enjoying falling down in public, enjoying saying painful or hurtful things to people you dearly love, enjoying soiling and/or peeing oneself, and enjoying vomiting in public...anywhere...in front of anyone...or on anyone. These actions feel pleasurable to the inebriated mind. (Fact check: I have not personally experienced all of these, thank God, but have spoken frankly and honestly with those who have.) 3. Living sober and exercising sober is a deeply different experience than living with alcohol and it’s toxic byproducts in your body. That’s right, your body, in an effort to detoxify the poison known as alcohol/ethanol/ETOH, changes/metabolizes it multiple times into different by-products, each of which are also toxic to either your brain, your lungs, your heart, your digestive system...and so on and on, like a metabolic game of Hot Potato, until it can finally be offloaded/excreted through multiple organs even days later. The four to six hours it takes to remove the bulk of it from your brain just burdens the next organ system with the next toxin your body changes it into. Drink enough the first time: you die. Drink just a little over a long time: you spread the damage throughout all of your organs/body. The very first time I drank alcohol in a life of previous abstinence, I had a glass of wine: 6 ounces. Two days later, I went for my run. A good run was my “go to” form of exercise, reset, renew, de-stress. That run was so bewildering, because I felt poisoned. My whole body was still really struggling with the poison I had poured through it: 6 ounces at 13% alcohol by volume , 48+ hours prior. I can absolutely guarantee that you will never find an effective health routine that requires alcohol. BTW, the flavonoids so touted as being healthy in wine...they’re in grapes and grape juice without the toxins of alcohol and it’s metabolic by-products. 4. Just be goofy on the endorphins of life. Laughter is the best medicine. Laughter with strangers creates community, and laughter with loved ones creates stronger bonds of love. Just cry when you need to. Tears carry the byproducts of stress away. Crying with strangers creates sympathy and compassion, and crying with loved ones creates patience and understanding. Just pray or read elevated literature when confused. There are no answers at the bottom of a bottle. Praying and reading with strangers creates wonderment, and praying and reading with loved ones creates astonishment. Tell those who keep advertising alcohol to you as a “fun” experience the above, and watch them squirm trying to say it’s not so bad as all that. It is. It actually and factually is. I love you.
When someone drink alcohol the first time you don't you will practice it occasionally or you will addict to it specially when your hard time comes because then you need temporary escapism

I just came across your channel a few days ago and have been thoroughly enjoying your videos. It is very clear that you all love each other so much - it does my heart good to see you all delight in each other like you do. I think Derik is a bit of an anomaly from many dads - he's so completely JAZZED to be a dad and is just itching to spend every moment he can with Jack! This is wonderful to see! Many dads are pretty content to take a back seat, at least for a while, until the children are a bit older. But Derik clearly loves Jack and can't get enough of him! Religious people just have this elegence to them that is just so pure and calming. They have a different aura. I myself am religious and I am a Muslim. It makes me feel really good to see good people on here. My granddaughter age 2 is a water baby. In the pool, held by mom or dad since 6 months old. Then went to using a life jacket, then to arm floats, then to one arm float. Now at age 2, no floats. She swims all over the pool, with close supervision of course, with her head above water. That's the part that took the longest as she was uncomfortable leaning her head back. She swims like a little damsel nymph. Never any tears, they let her learn at her own pace. She is high energy so they swim most every day. I taught her mom the same way. I had put her brother through the child safety swimming classes which worked also, but it was a bit traumatic for him and myself. Thank you for sharing yourselves on here. You are such a good example for marriage and parenthood. I'm sure you must be influencing and inspiring others.

I'm LDS too. (Old granny lady, but old free spirit too) I truly believe you two are one of the best representative couples the Church could possibly have. When I first found your channel, I knew immediately you were LDS without having to research or ask. You simply exude that light of the Holy Spirit. It's easy to spot. The very fact that you fully live the Gospel Principles but absolutely will NOT use your religion as a basis to judge others by your own standards is what draws your followers in and keeps them checking in on your lives, and grows your social media platforms. You seem to accept and acknowledge your own shortcomings and mistakes, and use them as a learning experience to continue on your path (wherever it may lead.) Listening to this video, you have wisdom beyond your years. It's easy to imagine Jack in the pre-existence pointing to you two saying, "Those are the parents I want! Please?" You guys are doing a great thing giving your son ISR lessons. They really do save lives. Most parents don't realize that drowning is in the top 4 reasons of accidental death for children ages 0-4. The lessons get easier, trust me from an ISR parent! Great job!

Keep the swimming up, it’s an essential life skill. My eldest daughter started at 7 mths old. She is 11yo and she is about to finish all swimming levels. My younger daughter due to Covid hasn’t had many swimming lessons. It’s so important they know how swim, it can save their life one day. You guys are so cute :)

I don't think I've ever seen a father like Derek. I mean it, Sarah you're a wonderful mother, 100%. I can't help but think how blessed your kids are to have you as parents. As someone who has been alcohol abstinent most of my life, I’m going to describe in gory detail why being abstinent rocks.
1. Wine tastes like rotten fruit, because that is what it is. Controlled rotting, aka fermentation, where the digestion of the fruit sugars by yeast is encouraged, creates the alcohol. The reason it must be carefully controlled is because if it is not, the yeast will die too soon in its own toxic waste.
2. The “fun” part of getting drunk is where inhibitions are lowered to the point of no longer caring, even to the point of enjoying falling down in public, enjoying saying painful or hurtful things to people you dearly love, enjoying soiling and/or peeing oneself, and enjoying vomiting in public...anywhere...in front of anyone...or on anyone. These actions feel pleasurable to the inebriated mind. (Fact check: I have not personally experienced all of these, thank God, but have spoken frankly and honestly with those who have.)
3. Living sober and exercising sober is a deeply different experience than living with alcohol and it’s toxic byproducts in your body. That’s right, your body, in an effort to detoxify the poison known as alcohol/ethanol/ETOH, changes/metabolizes it multiple times into different by-products, each of which are also toxic to either your brain, your lungs, your heart, your digestive system...and so on and on, like a metabolic game of Hot Potato, until it can finally be offloaded/excreted through multiple organs even days later. The four to six hours it takes to remove the bulk of it from your brain just burdens the next organ system with the next toxin your body changes it into.
Drink enough the first time: you die.
Drink just a little over a long time: you spread the damage throughout all of your organs/body.
The very first time I drank alcohol in a life of previous abstinence, I had a glass of wine: 6 ounces. Two days later, I went for my run. A good run was my “go to” form of exercise, reset, renew, de-stress.
That run was so bewildering, because I felt poisoned. My whole body was still really struggling with the poison I had poured through it: 6 ounces at 13% alcohol by volume , 48+ hours prior. I can absolutely guarantee that you will never find an effective health routine that requires alcohol.
BTW, the flavonoids so touted as being healthy in wine...they’re in grapes and grape juice without the toxins of alcohol and it’s metabolic by-products.
4. Just be goofy on the endorphins of life. Laughter is the best medicine. Laughter with strangers creates community, and laughter with loved ones creates stronger bonds of love.
Just cry when you need to. Tears carry the byproducts of stress away. Crying with strangers creates sympathy and compassion, and crying with loved ones creates patience and understanding.
Just pray or read elevated literature when confused. There are no answers at the bottom of a bottle. Praying and reading with strangers creates wonderment, and praying and reading with loved ones creates astonishment.
Tell those who keep advertising alcohol to you as a “fun” experience the above, and watch them squirm trying to say it’s not so bad as all that.
It is. It actually and factually is.

When someone drink alcohol the first time you don't you will practice it occasionally or you will addict to it specially when your hard time comes because then you need temporary escapism

If these people do not learn to meditate or experience alpha waves through music or hypnosis, the very first time they will produce alpha waves is with alcohol, and that is powerfully addictive.

I just came across your channel a few days ago and have been thoroughly enjoying your videos. It is very clear that you all love each other so much - it does my heart good to see you all delight in each other like you do. I think Derik is a bit of an anomaly from many dads - he's so completely JAZZED to be a dad and is just itching to spend every moment he can with Jack! This is wonderful to see! Many dads are pretty content to take a back seat, at least for a while, until the children are a bit older. But Derik clearly loves Jack and can't get enough of him! That and loving Sarah deeply are the two best things he can possibly do for Jack (and any others that come along...). Jack needs a bud!
Religious people just have this elegence to them that is just so pure and calming. They have a different aura. I myself am religious and I am a Muslim. It makes me feel really good to see good people on here. I have been coming across so many TH-camrs nowadays who prefer to wait till marriage because that just makes it so special, dress modest, avoid Alcohol, avoid swearing. I Honestly didn't know people in US also had same values. ⁰basically these are all things Islam teaches us. Trust me guys there is so much beauty and calmness in this lifestyle that you never want to not be modest or swear and stuff. Just recently started watching your channel. Loving your content!
My granddaughter age 2 is a water baby. In the pool, held by mom or dad since 6 months old. Then went to using a life jacket, then to arm floats, then to one arm float. Now at age 2, no floats. She swims all over the pool, with close supervision of course, with her head above water. That's the part that took the longest as she was uncomfortable leaning her head back. She swims like a little damsel nymph. Never any tears, they let her learn at her own pace. She is high energy so they swim most every day. I taught her mom the same way. I had put her brother through the child safety swimming classes which worked also, but it was a bit traumatic for him and myself. Thank you for sharing yourselves on here. You are such a good example for marriage and parenthood. I'm sure you must be influencing and inspiring others.

I'm LDS too. (Old granny lady, but old free spirit too) I truly believe you two are one of the best representative couples the Church could possibly have. When I first found your channel, I knew immediately you were LDS without having to research or ask. You simply exude that light of the Holy Spirit. It's easy to spot.
The very fact that you fully live the Gospel Principles but absolutely will NOT use your religion as a basis to judge others by your own standards is what draws your followers in and keeps them checking in on your lives, and grows your social media platforms. You seem to accept and acknowledge your own shortcomings and mistakes, and use them as a learning experience to continue on your path (wherever it may lead.) Listening to this video, you have wisdom beyond your years. It's easy to imagine Jack in the pre-existence pointing to you two saying, "Those are the parents I want! Please?"

You guys are doing a great thing giving your son ISR lessons. They really do save lives. Most parents don't realize that drowning is in the top 4 reasons of accidental death for children ages 0-4. The lessons get easier, trust me from an ISR parent! Great job!

Luckily for you they're not true at all you and your husband family and friends know that! Also I have three children and countless photo albums and videos of them. I am not an almost any of them because I was the one letting their dad have some time and I was the one taking videos and pictures because I felt like I spent the most of the time with our lovies so it was important to me that I show the special times when their Dad was with them.
