Feels more like trying to glitch out of the map, rather than an actual JP. Clocktower is a JP. This is just uneven terrain with gliding sections added. I do appreciate the difficulty to complete it, but it does not feel like a JP to me.
Just because it is not linear it doesn't feel like a JP? JPs like Clocktower feel dull nowadays and I'm glad that they took a step into a different direction.
In Clocktower at least I only spent my time figuring out which platform to stand on. This however, I need to smash the devil out of my space bar just to keep my character stays on the rocks as they're slippery as hell.
Whole-heartedly agree. You should not have to jump 10-20 up an uneven cliff, where it doesn't even feel like you can stand, to complete a JP. I really don't want to see this becoming the new standard for JPs in GW2.
READ THIS FIRST! At the VERY beginning you don't need to fly in like that. From the Vista looking at the lava eyes get on top of the area that has the Mursaat Lore Tablet. Move left though a small tunnel that brings you to a Lava Ele inside an 'eye'. From there jump and glide to the area below the other 'eye.' Under that eye is a cave that allows you to skip the extremely difficult first part of the video.
There are actually 5 checkpoints. You skipped the first one which was in the lava river entrance. I've seen people in game wondering why they couldn't open the chest when they got "all 4" checkpoints. Might want to add an annotation or something in the description. You can see it at 1:46
spent an hour trying to get to the top. was next to the last pillar wondering if i could get higher from behind. lost my checkpoint. the guy who said this is the worst content was correct for sure
6:45 to 7:30 the most idiotic of idiotic parts of the puzzles i have ever gone through.. textures and slope angle not corresponding to where you can actually stand safely. To make matters worse they look differently depending on level of textures, shadows and shaders. GG. What kind of cretin makes jps like that....
I spent at least an hour trying to finish this and just when I was in the last section, I happened to glide out of the crater, didn't have a chance to intentionally fall to my death to get back to the checkpoint, and had to leave the area (in which case your checkpoints are erased), undoing all of my progress. Anet did an incredibly bad job with this one. If I want a game that's designed to frustrate the hell out of me with constant punishment, I'll just go play Asshole Mario or something. I'd understand if it was of no significance in the game, but it gives you a Maguuma Mastery, which can get scarce towards the end. I'm angry.
did it with rev and my passive regeneration was enough to heal against the few times I took dmg. but next time Ill use my mesmer to avoid all the falling frustration...
I just don't have the desire to waste all that effort on another one of GW2s ridiculous JPs. The challenge used to be fun, but after Trolls Revenge they just got too long and stupid.
The part from 8:23 onward can be done a wee bit easier, you can directly glide on the stone a bit to the right off where he actually landed in the video.
Tried this last night and after spending about an hour in there (yes, I know, not long at all, considering.) I was ready to kill something, someone, anyone..... So very frustrating. I've left my toon there and will go back to another time when I feel in the mood. Thx for the vid - is very helpful!
after some tinkering, the ones without advanced glide can use the ledge at 11:02 to recover stamina on, and make it to 11:19 good addition of requirements, it´d be a shame if it wasn´t the complete list! considering you find out you can´t make it without advanced gliding after 90% of the puzzle.
11:26 That jump was driving me crazy. I failed it over and over and over, until I thought to jump to the other small peak to the left of that one and then back to the one she jumped to.
there is a better way, step on the first stone at the left, and then you can glide 180 degree to the right one, then you can jump upwards without using the hard to jump stone
First off, thanks for this guide. Would have never completed the JP without it. Luckily, my primary is a mesmer. No idea how any other class would complete it, as the JP punishes you harshly for the slightest misstep...and you'll be making a lot of those, even with a video. Make sure to turn your terrain textures to high, because even if you can see where to land, it may or may not be a land-able area. Make sure you have a few hours to burn doing this, as the design is unforgiving and the unintentional crap that pops up only makes this JP more upsetting...One time I fell into a glitch after the final checkpoint and couldn't get out...which meant waypointing, losing all my progress, and restarting from the beginning. Another time I logged off to sleep and when I returned, all progress was lost. This final time, I had less than an hour before a new build restarted the game *and* five minutes before the map I was on closed when I completed the JP. My major gripe is that even as cool looking as this JP is, it ends up as not being fun, just something that you may or may not decide to endure.
I wound up doing this one 3 times. 1 for the achiev, 1 for the tokens, and 1 for the achiev needed for the trinket. it's a bit dumb it doesn't autodetect that you did the jp prior. chalice of tears indeed...
At around 9:12, you can actually get more easily to those tiny tricky jumps by walking further on the big flat/round rock (the one at 8:53), and theres another flat round rock, which you can jump on and glide from
I just ran a group of 5 through with my Mesmer, and none of them received the achievement. Except for a tag along who joined in after the 3rd checkpoint. I think it was do to porting directly on to the checkpoints which might invalidate/not trigger the checkpoint... In hindsight I should've asked if their screen lit up.
@@toyotocorolla Even with advanced gliding, I'm unable to do it, thanks to the lava flows giving me gliding disable when going through them as the person did in the video
Does this no longer work? Just before gliding onto the small outcrop at 6:28 I'm met with a "Gliding Disabled" debuff which completely shuts this guide down. Is there another way to progress from there?
The collision in that place is soooo Broken, I've gotten quite far all I can say is don't bother , it was a nice idea for a JP is a shame they couldn't put the effort into the terrain , rock based ups are always the worst
She's is doing some weird jumps on some parts that make the puzzle look actual harder than it is. For example at 4:34 you just need to jump from the horn straight to where the chest is and you will land on those little rock platforms. And at the beginning of the puzzle I didn't even't saw that section, I entered the puzzle from a hole above and only had to make like 4 jumps to reach the caldera. For those that say it's too hard or obnoxious to ever try I honestly say that this puzzle took me less time that when I did Obsidian Sanctum or Aetherblade Puzzle for the first time, you should at least try it :(
My big issue with this puzzle is that I'm red/green colorblind and it's near-impossible for me to tell where half the platforms' edges are due to the red glow suffusing the place.
Im not colourblind and it still felt like Im doing all the jumps blind. I even had to turn up textures up for this one, cutting down my poor toasters fps, just to see the lines on the rocks to GUESS where I could land. next time I hope they use plattforms, or no icey rocks that make you slipp down if you hit the wrong pixel.
A couple hrs, I would say a good 2-3 hrs to reach the end. If you do it with group and have someone go ahead and port then rest of the group skip it goes a lot faster.
The designer said that half the difficulty is in finding where you need to go, not just in the difficulty of the jumps themselves. So that's probably why it seemed easier to you, if you used the guide.
@fadekill Yes they do. The only way they don't work is if you miss a checkpoint, leave the JP area, or swap maps. You might be missing the first checkpoint that dulfy missed. I have done the JP over 100 times already. Never had an issue with a checkpoint not working.
Kyle De'Larouche I'm not lying... Either you have some super rare glitch that I have not experienced or you did not grab the checkpoints/were counted as leaving the JP area. I have a couple videos up of me speedrunning this JP. I can do it in 5 minutes. If you don't believe me, just check my channel. I have literally done this over 100 times. It's no exaggeration.

I literally never said "The checkpoints have no chance of glitching" please don't put words in my mouth. That makes you a liar. I had simply assumed they were missing a checkpoint as I've seen many people are, and from my experience in running it 100+ times without having any issue, by pure statistics, I didn't think there was a glitch. I'm still doubtful that there are actually glitched checkpoints, but I won't deny that it could be a possibility, but it's definitely a low chance. I believe it is more likely that some portions of the JP will remove checkpoint status, rather than the checkpoints themselves failing. I have experienced this twice near the end of the JP. But if I grab a checkpoint and keep killing myself non-stop, it never seems to fail. Also, I was replying to fadekill who I have seen numerous times in the comments section, claiming that the checkpoints "Never seems to work for me. I go through the smoke thingies multiple times and when I die I can only way point. It only works for the very first checkpoint" and several other similar comments. I highly doubt he is getting glitched checkpoints 100% of the time. That's why I am pretty sure he is simply missing checkpoints. I did however say "Either you have some super rare glitch that I have not experienced or you did not grab the checkpoints/were counted as leaving the JP area." ob-----noxious... there's a part right after that last checkpoint that you can fall behind and not die, which will cause you to wp out and lose all of your checkpoints. it's the behind the skull+ 2 horns at the tippy top... SO....BAD....if you fall behind that and lose all progress. also...i couldn't get the loot in the massive ancient chest because the map instance reloaded on me that far into it. i was on that jp for so long that my instance auto-closed...twice. if it weren't for that, i'd have been able to get the loot. i got the mastery, just no chance at the box contents.
well i just did it with this guide and it took me about 40min, also did it on mesmer and never jumped without a port, god bless alacrity for a very low cd on portal..
It'd be great if you added checkpoint timehacks in your description. 2:46 First Checkpoint 5:26 Second Checkpoint 6:05 Third Checkpoint 7:59 Fourth Checkpoint
If you didn't complete yet the achievement for the 40 Mursaat Tokens, don't leave the JP after you arrive to the final chest. You can get the tokens 23-24 in the same run (otherwise you must do the JP again for this achievement...)
Is Advanced Gliding needed??!?! Seriously gotta tell us in the beginning if it is or not, so that we don't waste our life with this if we don't have it yet...
when I searched gw2 jumping puzzle definition just for fun not to be serious. A Jumping puzzle usually consists of a series of floating or grounded objects that the player has to jump across.
you go through the steam vent things and your character has a blue aura and if you die you go back to it (or should, just hope for the best and that it doesnt bug out or you dc,wp, change maps etc)

fadekill that sucks, it is very very buggy and if you go through say the 2nd checkpoint before the first then when you die you just die with no checkpoint
And they only work if you get to them in the correct order.. miss one, and you have to go back to it.. miss the very first one and they don't work at all.. Dulfy does not mention the first one, which is at 1:51..
Had to do this 3 times after being booted out of a closing map, and then again for the Mursaat Tokens. Much easier after doing it once and knowing what to do, and there are some parts that can be done in an easier way than shown in this video. It's not too bad a JP, but how the hell did anyone even figure out how to complete it in the first place...
How to do this JP: 1º Found a commander on the map, someone that have way too much time free on his hands. 2ºLet him do everything. 3º Join his squad, use "teleport too a friend" 4ºWhen the commander asks for a tip, say "thank you" , send him a chocolate cake and leave, never too return.
Just a friendly reminder, I did this near server reset and wasn't able to open the chest because the reset happened during the time i was going up the jumping puzzle and it apparently keeps tabs on what checkpoints are needed to actually go up the volcano, in other words i had to go back to the beginning and go to the point where the server reset on me. (i gave up tho XD)
Got disconnected halfway through the puzzle. Managed to get to the chest at the end, then realized checkpoints don't carry over if you get disconnected or change a map. Had me somewhat irritated, but at least I managed to get the achievement. Not doing this again for some blues and greens.
This jump puzzle is fucking disgusting. It took me 3-4 hours to complete without portals. The worst part that made me rage so hard was the 4:53 slippery rock right before the chest next preceding the fourth checkpoint. There was a Mesmer there who made the jump but gave no shits about me unfortunately. After I finally made that jump after 30-90 minutes of trying I couldn't believe there was a fucking checkpoint soon after. Everything else I was able to do with a decent amount of consistency.
If it wasn't for the token I didn't even bother to do it. I was almost giving up then a mesmer suddenly appeared and opened portal for me to get all the tokens i want. I was so lucky.
The most annoying thing about shit like this is the part where the gw2 engine is so shitty that it registers the space bar only 20% of the time on rocks. And this entire fucking JP is rocks.
I kind of wanna go for aurora, but i need to complete this jumping puzzle for it. If anyone will carry me through it, that would help a lot. I dislike jumping puzzles, and this is just straight up bananas.
Despite issues with my hands, I manage to enjoy PvE content and doing my best to get general achievements. Unfortunately this jumping puzzle, along with a few others, gets relegated to my ever-growing 'can't do' list.
Don't get why people complain so much, I did this while guiding a friend who is so bad at JPs, we had no mesmer and it only took us 3hrs of trying and failing, but we got to the top. It was fun and challenging

i agree, and this one isn't that much about jumping as it is clearing burning and gliding. I miss the old difficult JPs like Not So Secret.

Around 08:30 you don´t need to go like that - you can just go over the skull to the horn that you land at 10:30 - it easily accessible.

Yeah I visited that spot, luckily i had some tp to friends, but yeah... Poorly designed.

If you didn't complete yet the achievement for the 40 Mursaat Tokens, don't leave the JP after you arrive to the final chest. You can get the tokens 23-24 in the same run (otherwise you must do the JP again for this achievement...)
Is Advanced Gliding needed??!?! Seriously gotta tell us in the beginning if it is or not, so that we don't waste our life with this if we don't have it yet...

when I searched gw2 jumping puzzle definition just for fun not to be serious. A Jumping puzzle usually consists of a series of floating or grounded objects that the player has to jump across.
If i die while doing the jp, can i restart from the last checkpoint?

those checkpoints - how do they work exactly?
you go through the steam vent things and your character has a blue aura and if you die you go back to it (or should, just hope for the best and that it doesnt bug out or you dc,wp, change maps etc)

Never seems to work for me. I go through the smoke thingies multiple times and when I die I can only way point. It only works for the very first checkpoint for me, which is quite annoying.
fadekill that sucks, it is very very buggy and if you go through say the 2nd checkpoint before the first then when you die you just die with no checkpoint
And they only work if you get to them in the correct order.. miss one, and you have to go back to it.. miss the very first one and they don't work at all..
Dulfy does not mention the first one, which is at 1:51..

What are those check points for? Rev back to there in case you died before reaching the next check point?
inside the entrace cage is also that windy thing you must have that to get the checkpoints active 1.49 you see the cave 1
Had to do this 3 times after being booted out of a closing map, and then again for the Mursaat Tokens. Much easier after doing it once and knowing what to do, and there are some parts that can be done in an easier way than shown in this video. It's not too bad a JP, but how the hell did anyone even figure out how to complete it in the first place...
Is it necessary to have advanced gliding mastery to complete it?
OMG you were cutting it close with the new build... that first part looks really annoying and counterintuitive to a jumping puzzle though o_0
How to do this JP:
1º Found a commander on the map, someone that have way too much time free on his hands.
2ºLet him do everything.
3º Join his squad, use "teleport too a friend"
4ºWhen the commander asks for a tip, say "thank you" , send him a chocolate cake and leave, never too return.

If you get hit by lava (or most of it), you get a 5 second debuff of no flying. Avoid hitting any lava and you'll be good.

The way you entered the puzzle was unnecessarily hard. There is a way that doesn't involve getting burned at all which is the intended way.
Just a friendly reminder, I did this near server reset and wasn't able to open the chest because the reset happened during the time i was going up the jumping puzzle and it apparently keeps tabs on what checkpoints are needed to actually go up the volcano, in other words i had to go back to the beginning and go to the point where the server reset on me. (i gave up tho XD)
How did ANYONE figure this out when it was released? Just dive off randomly in every direction til a path was found?
Got disconnected halfway through the puzzle. Managed to get to the chest at the end, then realized checkpoints don't carry over if you get disconnected or change a map. Had me somewhat irritated, but at least I managed to get the achievement. Not doing this again for some blues and greens.
i almost got to the end and had this happen, but i fell and had to start over, :(

This jump puzzle is fucking disgusting. It took me 3-4 hours to complete without portals. The worst part that made me rage so hard was the 4:53 slippery rock right before the chest next preceding the fourth checkpoint. There was a Mesmer there who made the jump but gave no shits about me unfortunately. After I finally made that jump after 30-90 minutes of trying I couldn't believe there was a fucking checkpoint soon after. Everything else I was able to do with a decent amount of consistency.
If it wasn't for the token I didn't even bother to do it. I was almost giving up then a mesmer suddenly appeared and opened portal for me to get all the tokens i want. I was so lucky.

The most annoying thing about shit like this is the part where the gw2 engine is so shitty that it registers the space bar only 20% of the time on rocks. And this entire fucking JP is rocks.
I kind of wanna go for aurora, but i need to complete this jumping puzzle for it. If anyone will carry me through it, that would help a lot. I dislike jumping puzzles, and this is just straight up bananas.

Despite issues with my hands, I manage to enjoy PvE content and doing my best to get general achievements. Unfortunately this jumping puzzle, along with a few others, gets relegated to my ever-growing 'can't do' list.
This would be impossible with my motorical disfunction... I offer 5g for a port
I didn't respawn at the checpoint when I died.
we completed it with 2 mesmers if even one fails other tp's but still it took 1-2 hours
Don't get why people complain so much, I did this while guiding a friend who is so bad at JPs, we had no mesmer and it only took us 3hrs of trying and failing, but we got to the top. It was fun and challenging
