Brig Benjamin Adekunle met me as a retired Brigadier and I spoke to Commissioner J K Kolawole who gave his son a job as an Engineer in the Federal Civil service. He told me his frustrations which led to his retirement. He mentioned them in this interview political ceasefire agreement Ethiopia without consultation with war front leaders

He was a fearless warrior. Highly qualified, eloquent, and super smart. He helped to keep Nigeria one. May his soul rest in peace.

Yorubas and Igbos will always fight even in overseas where in the area we stay together there's always friction. It's time Nigerians know that what happened in the past is gone forever. Let's now focus on the future to educate our children and have a better standard of living. We must learn the lessons from the mistakes of our forefathers and repeat them. Whether Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo we are all humans. No one is super human being. We should change our concept and think about how we will always put food on the table for the family. One Nigeria! One Africa!

  • @spikezlee

He fought for One Nigeria . This Nigeria we are living In

He may be a hero to some, but he nearly killed my brother a sergeant as at the time driving captain Amos! I was visiting my brother at Yaba base ordinance then. Everybody was so afraid of him. ,he was feared by Everybody in Lagos then. My brother was driving his army Jeep driving back to to the Barack when Adekunle stopped his jeep and ordered him to do a frog, jump along the road, and beat the hell out of him. My brother nearly lost his life in the process and spent close to two weeks in the military hospital. My brothers pet name was ( Omo Baba ologbon).

Interestingly, for someone whose name "Maja" in Yoruba translates to "don't fight" in English, he sure had lot of fight in him. Rest in power, General...

Ther Nigeria-Biafra war ended up making heroes out of villains. Benjamin Adekunle ranks among the first of these. He was overated; and that is why he ended up in penury and squalor after being abandoned by the Nigerian state and all those who used him! I do not see any real military exploits from him other than the battle in the Rivers creeks and the killing of civilians, dogs, trees, or anything that moves, or does not move! Can anyone compare him to the bravery and swagger of Nzeogwu, or Achuzie, or Nwawo? Not at all.

  • @oyesholakolawole2269

One of his quotes he said “I didn’t start this war Ojukwu did but I have a war I must win “ I just love the man growing up, we would have been over run by Biafran soldiers. They were stopped at Ore

  • @michaelfarmhand

I lived next door to him on Adekunle street, just off Nnobi street in Aguda. This was in the late 70’s and early 80’s

  • @chimezieamanambu8701

He was feared but respected (as a soldier ) in Igbo land.

  • @BestPropertyDealz

Men of that generation were simply built different.

  • @gideon17you

I remember in those days, they will graft the picture of his head to a black scorpion picture, in the middle of an Almanac! He was so fearless to the point of misery! Bigger soldiers, smaller ones, etc. feared him. He decongested the port of Lagos in few days that he took over. Nobody messed with The Black Scorpion.

  • @uzomahogbolu399

Adekunle left his footprints in the sands of time. Love him or hate him there is no denying the fact that he was an accomplished military officer.
