This game is the embodiment of my childhood. I remember it vividly: I was in my bedroom, having fallen ill with the flu at the age of 10. Knowing I was able to miss school the following day and with sympathetic parents across the hall watching a TV show I could faintly hear in between levels. (Unsolved mysteries I believe) I remember grinding this game through trial and error until it's completion in the early hours of the morning. I remember sleeping extremely well reveling in the achievement despite my illness. Thank you for making this video.
I used to be scared of this game, I don't think it gave me nightmares but I remember the sounds and music being very eerie. But I still wanted to watch my mom play it, although I couldn't play it alone lol
It made me scared too. The idea to rot away in a forsaken dungeon is not a great prospect Eventually progressing i heard falling doors shut. It made me fear i made a mistake or somewhere deep in the castle a door would be closed causing me to nonetheless fail in the future
Interestingly, the SNES/SFC version has different publishers depending on the region. In Japan when the SFC version was released on 3 July 1992, it was published by NCS Masaya. And when the SNES version was released in North America and Europe on 1 November 1992, it was published by Konami. But the overseas version has censorship unfortunately. So you won't see any religious references, unless you are playing the Japan version and also a hack for the NA and EU versions.
Oh.. I remember it very well, I was 10 and one night before going to bed my mum told me she would like to try it. The next morning he had to take me to school, he hadn't slept and of course the game was still on.

@@andytjhin7670 Very different. The level set is wildly longer, with several more boss fights, and your mirror clone doesn't send you back down to the dungeon after beating the fat guard, but rather seemingly sends you straight to Hell (which you can escape from, of course). You actually need that extra hour to get through everything they added in. Consider it a _Prince of Persia 1.5_ if you want.

After finishing a level you have a code, use that in the continue menu. Just be sure to do the levels with your best time, because the codes also saves your time. One big issue for me with this version: Some animation of the Prince is not as buttery smooth as in the original.

In the PC version there was a one hour time limir and it was real time. You could check the remaining time by pressing the space bar, IIRC.
The timer actually runs on real life- time. You only have two hours real time to beat the game or bad ending happen

Much more space and hardware power for additional assets. The PC version is just an upscaled port of the Apple II one.
The PC version was also able to run on Hercules Monochrome graphics card that is to its simplified visuals.
