The fine pieces on statues (hairs and fingers) break SO easily with the slightest little feather tap

I do like statues but one thing that annoys me about statues is that they can break easily when there being shipped to you and trying to resell them can be a nightmare.

Well put. There’s one more though…HTs are very light! Besides fitting ten of them where u sit one statue you do not worry about your shelf strength at all.

Some good points. I’ve been collecting action figures since 1999. I’ve slowed down a lot but I’m super happy with my Mcfarlanes and Necas. I especially like the older ones with the static legs. They look like mini statues. I have some cool diorama looks with them. I think in the future I’ll get more statues but nothing even close to your collection for the reasons you just mentioned. Every now and then if a great deal comes along. Or if they make a 1/2 scale horror statue like a Freddy or a Silicone Freddy.

I collect anything from neca, mezco, other style figures, 1/6 figures and statues. Neutral and not a fan boy of any. However, each one does something better than the other. Not one is far superior than the other. It's more about its best one which is a character you love. I honestly wouldn't give any of them up and my rabbit hole is not about what the item is (manufacture, size), but its about horror and my favourite 20 films for example. It's me, my collection and love it. But I do appreciate others who may only collect the one. Example, this statue collection - crazy good.

    Some pros/con in my opinion:
Statues break very easily, even in transit
Statues have huge boxes... compared to the uniform boxes of hot toys typically.
You pretty much said it all lol, the breaks are the worst... I think also its 10x harder to resell a statue you get tired of compared to a hot toy. The statues since they can arrive broken or randomly break when you have them displayed, people will want a discount 100%... they will low ball you for it and complain. Hot toys its pretty hard to break them.
I think the biggest gripe I have is the boxes. They literally give me anxiety... I know I have to keep them if I plan to resell the statue when I'm tired of it or if I move so its such an annoyance. I had to rent a storage unit just to get them away from me

I agree with everything, the only thing i do not fully agree is this preference for movie versions over comic versions. That can be valid when the character is BORN on movie, but all the superheroes are comic characters so I think their comic versions are the originals and the ones someone should prefer because anyone should just go always for the OG. Movies can transform characters sometimes. Just my point tho.

Can anyone help me understand the pricing of 1/4 scale statues? Like why do Sideshow statues cost so much when their sculpts, paint details, and accessories, etc... are terribly inferior to that of Hot Toys?
Yet they cost several times as much? Why is this?

I agree that’s why my collection is made up of both statues and hot toys or one six scale figures I’m a huge Batman fan so I have the Snyder verse 1/3 lineup but as much as I want to buy the prime one 1/3 scale, 1989 Batman. I’m going to buy the one six scale so I can also get the Batmobile to display with him. So it’s like you said somethings are good to get a statue. Some things are also good to get in one six scale. It all depends on how much you want and what you want. If I was trying to have a very modest or very picky collection that I may go with all 1/3 scale statues, or just statues in general because there’s not too many pieces, I want a end I’m not going to have to ever worry about spacing.

I collect both...why restrict yourself is my opinion. And, posing Hot Toys is really enjoyable and fun for me. It makes them so dynamic and bad ass to look at. Plus, Hot Toys do an AMAZING job of likeness imo. The only 2 companies to rival them are Queen and Infinity....possibly JND as a third. Prime 1 are nowhere near the portrait accuracy of HT imo...and now they're getting into their artisan, hand punched hair figures...they're one step further still.
Statues definitely have that wow factor for sure. I have Prime 1's Doom Slayer, Aliens Warrior, attack Velociraptor and their Independence Day alien. I also have Queen's Balrog Cinta Bust coming. They are very impressive for sure, especially with some good lighting.
The one problem I have with HT collectors is as you say...they stuff way too many together and just have them stood up straight looking boring. Justin's Collection is a PERFECT example of this. His collection is completely overkill imo and ruins the artistry of the individual figures.
I will continue to collect all scales of figures, statues and collectibles...I find if I like something, regardless of its size etc, I'll get it and add it to my collection.
Anyway, your statue collection is really impressive mate, I would say the Clicker bust is probably my favourite piece of yours tbh. Followed closely by the Thanos bust and Jet Wing Optimus. Keep up the good work! 👍

I started collecting hot toys in 2015, and statues in 2020. I love all my statues more than most of my hot toys (the only ones I value over my statues is Robocop and Terminator 2, those are perfect). But I still collect hot toys because I have more room for them than I do statues. I have 60+ hot toys and 8 1/3 scale statues, and I look at my statues 99% of the time. But I still love my hot toys because I like posing them, makes me feel like a kid, except these toys cost $200-$500 🤣

I only collect three lines; Aliens, Predator, and Terminator. I have zero interest in superheroes. I also have no interest in video game-based statues or action-figures. Zero interest in animé statues/action-figures. I do like Flankster’s Transformers and Horror stuff though. I like dinosaurs, but not Jurassic Park movie related stuff. I like actual real paleontology. The Jurassic Park movie Raptors are not accurate. They had feathers. They were like large bipedal toothed carnivorous ostriches. Also, the T-Rex and Velociraptors did not live during “older” Jurassic Period (the top Predator during the Jurassic Period was the Allosaurus 150 million years ago). The T-Rex and Raptors lived during the “newer” Cretaceous Period, the last era of the dinosaurs (65 million years ago when the asteroid hit). Jurassic Park movies should’ve been called Cretaceous Park, lol. Of my three lines, I collect everything. Statues of all scales. Hot Toys. Old school action-figures like the first ever Alien toy from 1979 made by Kenner (banned at the time). NECA. 3D prints. Model kits. Props. Posters. Customs. Lunchboxes. Comics. I really have no rules. Anything goes as long as it’s Alien, Predator, and Terminator. I did not comment on his Hot Toy hate video, because I knew he was going to make this one, lol.
Yes, collect what you love. It’s your collection, not theirs.

Lets be honest... the fair approach would be to imagine if money and space was not an issue, which would we all prefer. I think most people would pick high end statues like you have there. The one thing hot toys has though is that if you are into figure photography (which is a hobby all to itself) hot toys are obviously far more attractive to figure photographers....
