Wolves fan here. This media rhetoric of “wolves sold their best 2 players” is simply not the case. Kilman is a decent player but far from our best. Not even our best defender and needs an experienced head next to him to be solid. Neto wasn’t even available to play majority of last season, and that has been the case for most of his time here. No idea why Jim is banging on about Podence too - he’s average at best, was a bad egg for the group and didn’t want to be here. Our squad has been strengthened, overall it’s better than what we had last season. There’s no excuse for this poor form and it’s on O’Neil. He should be doing better with this team.
Podence wasn't even at the club last season he was out on loan, as you say Neto while very good was mostly injured and Killman is a solid defender and that's all
I'm Villa fan, i think they've had a tuff start with their fixtures, the played well against the Villa, we've only played 5 games, too early too predict what's going to happen by next May.

Neto , Kilman , Podence , Nunez , Nevez , Coady , Jimenez , Moutinho , Traore ... It's a lot of integral players to loose over two seasons ... I think and hope they will still have enough to stay up but to loose so many key players in such a short space of time is always going to be damaging ... As a Wolves fan, I hope you're right! Our starting schedule is allegedly the toughest in the league. You could make a case that it's irrelevant since all teams have to play each other twice over the course of a season. However, in sport (as in life) momentum is a thing, and if November rolls around with us still looking for our first win, I'll be more than a bit concerned.
Yes they sold Neto and Kilman for good money but they brought in good players like Andre Mosquera Larsen That Wolves squad should be performing better regardless with players like Cunha Gomes Ait nouri etc
Gary didnt get the CB he wanted BUT the rest of the positions are strong and although the fixture list has been absurd the Forest, Newcastle, and Villa results are down to Gary's poor decision making, poor team selections and bad substitutions (and god knows what he said at half time). He seems to also be doing the Kompany thing of playing tactics that wont get wins but stick to his style.
Part of trouble is though that the club ( not O’Neil !) decided to spend a lot of money ( that apparently is in short supply) on another defensive MF (Andre) whilst failing to sign an experienced CB. Now as the almost predicable season-ending injury strikes Mosquera they will be in panic mode scratching about for available unattached players. Shades of when they brought Diego Costa in a while back! That is an ownership/ higher management issue and not at all of O’Neil’s making.
It's both, we have very little quality left and playing 4 at the back is a bad way to go, we're not good enough for a back 4. Add to that we go from high press to low block in the blink of an eye and there you go
That's a good point as generally the top positions finished are very much in line with high wage bills. It's interesting as with some slightly better business from wolves eg a few extra savvy signings a couple of loan deals of established good players I genuinely think you could be top ten material.
Neto, Kilman keft, podence hardly player last few seasons, rheyve bright in rodrigo gomes, forbs, lima, doyle permanent, johnston as new no1, larsen, andre, also mosquera and guedes back in the team, they have so mucy nore deoth than last seaosn.. what im seeing is the manager is at fualt for how hes setting them up and game management been shocking by O'Neill, they have good enough squad to stay up and try and aim for mid table if they can get in geling again
I've said it time and again, it's payback time for daring to challenge the stupid VAR format, the bigwigs at the premier league want to see us get relegated, there's no coincidence with the start to our horrendous fixture list
We never had Podence last season We only had Neto half the season and Kilman I don't think was that great without Dawson or before Coady We should never of let Bueno or Chiquinho go mistake! So not a massive loss to our squad We have I think a stronger team this season plaus depth on the Bench I'm shaw GON will turn this around starting at Brentford next Look at the start we have had with top teams We will be ok 👍 believe
All the issues surrounding key players are fair game. Failure to recruit good replacements is down to the owners. However, knowing how to win games from a winning position is down to the coaching and the mental strength or otherwise of the players. Gary is a good bloke but after a honeymoon period , his lack of experience is contributing to this situation. Wolves need new owners that prioritize the right issues of running a great club.
I think a club like Fulham are going to be fine because they've shown they can win football matches. Clubs like Wolves, Everton and even Brentford I worry for their Premier League status. They might survive but at least 2 are going to be right on the edge of relegation in 16th or 17th. Depending on the promoted sides and how they perform.
I'm a villa fan and watched the wolves vs Newcastle game. Wolves a goal up, with all of the ball, but had no clue what to do with it. I knew Newcastle would get back into it, and if they got the equaliser, they'd win the match. Ait-Nouri is the personification of wolves. Nice enough on the ball, and gets right forward, but there's no risk and no threat, because he doesn't know what to do with the ball in the final third. Villa vs wolves, a goal down (a mistake by us, and a magnificent finish by Cunha) and I said, even if they get a second, we can beat wolves. Because if we get one, we can get 3 or 4. Fair enough, it took us a bit longer to get back into it, but I could see it a mile off, simply because wolves had no imagination and no final third goal threat. They should've also had a couple of players sent off. Ref did really well first half, but bottled everything in the second. A real shame
@@herrzyklon couple players sent off? I suggest you lay off the crack pipes. One of your players done Yerson ACL and stood over him like a coward whilst in pain (no wonder you lot like him as cowards sums up the villa lads tbh never seen you have it when the numbers equal) and yet we should've had reds. Delusional fool
Neto was injured best part of two seasons only made a few appearances, podence wasn't in the first team so killman was the guy we really needed to replace. we have bought well but we are losing due to the managers lack of in game changes and tactics, he's bull headed and needs to change our formation to favour the players we have.

Sam Allardyce to replace Sa. Fast mover is Allardyce. More than you can say Sa. That would help. This team has been flirting with destiny season after season. Finally selling too many has caught up with us.
The Wolves playing squad is in general stronger than they were last season. The one problem area squad-wise is centre back, and those chickens have come home to roost with Mosquera's injury. A larger problem for me is the way O'Neil is talking down his own squad and their chances of taking points off 'better' teams, and laying blame elsewhere while covering his own back. I think O'Neil has been found out and found wanting as a top-flight manager.
It’s not really a “Car crash” is it this happens to teams in the bottom half of the league they become feeder clubs to the top 6 then when you don’t replace those players your in a dogfight to stay up or inevitably you go down! This isn’t new this has been happening to clubs for years! If you don’t spend money and refresh your squad then staying up becomes harder Sunderland were the prime example of that
Tough fixtures yes but let’s not forget against Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa we’ve been in positive positions at half time only to capitulate in the second half, even against Forest in the second half we were lucky to come away with a point. The worry for me is there is an obvious trend in the manner of the defeats this season, like why are we so poor in the second half? I question the players fitness and what GON is saying to them at half time.
What about Ipswich? Their opening fixtures are Liverpool, “Citeh”, Fulham, Brighton, Saints, Villa, West Ham. Everton had Brighton, Spurs, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Villa, Leicester. Leicester have had Spurs, Fulham, Villa, Palace, Everton and Arsenal to come this weekend. Have they been punished too?
Kilman hesitant unreliable netto on his day fantastic 50% injured we’ve brought some really good players this fixture list is highly dubious but we can’t only play for one half if the first half was carried through to the second half we would be 7th therefore you have to blame the game plan and individual errors
Adams, Nuez, Iota. Three capable players who did not want to stay. Killman, Neto... Failure to attract Ramsdale in when he was available...Failure to meet transfer money for other players when we were at least on the running for them. But penny pinching when we had made 110milliion on sales. It's all loss loss loss now it's losing on the pitch. Maybe it's our turn to drop a division.
