    I love her, I want to learn this because my dad and step mom work with Special Education, so I started helping at my school and was paired with a deaf person. I cant wait to use these next year!

    I wanted to ask about the countries video you posted recently. Say you want to sign someone who is Canadian for example. After signing the country sign for Canada, would you add the agent marker afterwards? Same thing goes for any country as well?

    Can ASL--or any sign-language, for that matter---adapt and change to suit the thought-patterns and motor-function of neurodivergent users? Because I'm autistic, and I find the fingerspelling system in particular to be very unintuitive. I challenge you to fingerspell the longest town name in the world: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

    Hello Meredith! I am learning ASL, thanks for your videos, they are a helpful reference. I try to attend Deaf events, yes, it can be intimidating. In my experience, meeting Deaf people has been positive. They are eager to help, explain, repeat etc. Question for you: How do they tell jokes? Thank you thank you, thank you.😊

    Hey Meredith, I have a question:
    I am in high school and I've been watching your videos for a while and learning asl because it really interests me and I couldn't take it in school this year due to scheduling issues. Now, for my writing class I have to write a research paper and I really want it to be on something in Deaf culture. Any topic question recommendations?

    Does it matter right or left handed when speaking ASL? Can the word "help" for example be spoken but "left handed"? Everything I see is speaking on the right hand? What if I need to make those signs on my left hand? I am missing half of my left index finger so It ugly when I try hook shapes with my left index finger. What if I was missing the same part on my right hand? In a way I am muted in a def world?

      @zsofiszullo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can sign with the hand its better for you,so yeah you can sign with your left hand.
      I guess you see most signing with right hand because for most people dominant hand in signing=the hand they write with.
      But i think you shouldnt change between the hands you are using as dominant cuz that can be confusing

    • @gardeniagirl1374
      @gardeniagirl1374 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My first ASL instructor told us, "Pick one hand and teach it to sign." I wish I would have taught my left hand to sign because then it would be stronger than it is now.

    • @gimygaming8655
      @gimygaming8655 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gardeniagirl1374 what do you do if you use both hands? I often carry things. So sometimes I sign with one hand and then a different another time because of things I'm holding. Also because of chronic conditions, sometimes one arm gives out and vise versa. So then when I try signing it gets all confused and I sign with both. I like don't have a dominant hand because of all this so when both hands are free, my signs get all mixed up because of the hand swapping

    I think I need to find a deaf community. I'm a comedian who is deaf in one ear, who wants to incorporate ASL. I have been deaf since I was 7 years old, and hearing aids aren't helping me

  • @tinamoore338

    When you talk and sign are we supposed to talk or just sign? Like my daughter and i want to practice with each other but she knows none of the signs and she doesnt understand unless i talk and tell her what i just said, is this ok ? Or should we do something different.

    • @gimygaming8655
      @gimygaming8655 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't speak and sign at the same time because ASL and English have two different rules and grammar.
      Signing and speaking wouldn't be ASL, it would be SEE
      But I will say if she has questions instead of verbally telling her, try fingerspelling the word. Helps her with fingerspelling comprehension and also makes the sign stick better. It's what you normally have to do with deaf people

      Half deaf… does she have hearing in only one ear, or are both of her ears 50% deaf? How does that even work? Wouldn’t that be considered hearing impaired? Would she also be half hearing then? 🧐 seriously wondering…
