Chase Eagleson is best known for his work on his TH-cam channel covering popular songs in an acoustic style and performing original music. Why would a cover not be able to capture the magic? Jim Croce was an artist; the cover is done by an artist. The original had instruments + vocals; a cover would have instruments + vocals. They have literally all the same components and potential. Unless you think cover artists are implicitly and irredeemably less talented than artists who sign with record labels?
i have been listening to this song on loop for about an hour and it still hasn't gotten any more soothing, his voice is really helping me right now and it's just an amazing song overall.

Until now, all the versions that I have been able to hear follow, as a tribute to Croce's endearing original recording, the chords and the recitative with absolute fidelity achieving very beautiful interpretations. This version that Chase Eagleson does, from that original dotted beginning that opens the verse, and his voice with that soft and melodious vibrato, is a majestic version.
