There are craftspeople on yt who use historical methods to make shoes, for example, I know Nicole Rudolph makes historical shoes using old-fashioned methods!
It’s actually a pretty easy technique they just molded and then crafted the shoes with the mold and also there are sometimes were the techniques deferred depending on the country so one person may use their own feet as a “mold” or example to craft shoes

One thing that bothers me - when I stand my feet become wider, so I think it's better making casts of them standing rather than sitting. All my uncomfortable shoes are ones that put pressure on my toes. But then again they had a fitting so if anything was tight, probably was fixed.

My Grandfather whom was born in 1899 had every pair of shoes crafted by someone in Arkansas. In the 30s they cost him 100 dollars. But he wore every pair crafted his entire life. He lived to be 101 years old. That's quality just like this.
What an amazing craft this would be to learn! About the only skill I recognized is threading the bobbin & the machine. The rest of it is completely foreign to me & oh, so intriguing. I envy people who have had the opportunity to come into contact with someone who has bern willing to teach them a handcraft such as this…or someone who’s learned independently. Still, most often it’s working with someone who’s a master crafter & has the tools & machinery needed. It’s interesting the similarities I see in this shoe construction and that of a ballerinas pointe shoe. Thank you for sharing this!❤
I'm going to be spending close to 1k for a pair of boots. Spendy, yes. But I expect these boots to last for at least 10k miles, minimum, with the caveat of needing a few resolings in there. There's less rubber on a sole tread than a tire tread.

Sharper blades are actually generally safer, you need less pressure to cut through things so if you slip you are less likely to slip far and slice into your hand, if you have a full knife it takes more to cut through something so if you slip the knife goes careening into whatever solid surface it can find next which is often your hand

Your arches collapse and you likely need orthotics. (I'm someone who needs orthotics for this very reason.)
