    Having confidence in your abilities and in your skills is what separates good from great. So many people think I'm cocky or arrogant by just how I carry and conduct myself personally and professionally and they don't understand that how you think about yourself is how you will act. I enjoy watching your videos and hearing you exude confidence in yourself and your team, that's the difference between wishing it would happen and making it happen! Salute bro and God bless.

    I'm not a concrete guy, but it's very obvious that your work is top notch. It's so hard to find people that take pride in their work these days. I'm curious, besides it not being a monolithic piece, is there any reason not to form the "bottom" part of all the stairs together. Then bond the top "floating" piece on after? The top pieces could be formed at the same time, or even before off site, and might be a big time saver. I know it wouldn't be feasible for larger stairs.

  • @Treehandler
    @Treehandler ปีที่แล้ว

    The functionality of concrete is what makes it so appealing. When you start stamping it, add contrasting borders and all that, it totally detracts from the form of it.
    Stamping has crossed into the upper class neighborhoods but it’s mostly because the contractors aren’t only imitating stone, they’re imitating a contractor who has mastered the fundamentals like your crew. Same thing as financing a Mercedes while renting a third floor apartment, trying to signal that you have money but we all
    Know if you had deep pockets you’d have the masters showcase the fundamentals

    Excellent work!
    I'm interested to know what is the rise from one to next step. I see in the video where one of the men had a notch in 2x6 from one step to other. Looked about 4 inch?
    I always do an overhang on a landing."top step" My way may sound retarded.. I do a footing, strip that form, then use sill foam & gaff tape on 2 2x4 even with top of footing. Then form the landing with a 2x8 around and above to make the landing. When stripped, here in florida, we stucco the side and front with a lace texture with trowel.. no real fine work.
    However, I've been building a house and front landing not in, but footing is, going to try finish fine this time around and there is 3 ft of elevation that has to have side walks, but I think that we will just do this.
    Nice videos! Love your attitude!! sound like someone I know
    Thanks

      Did concrete counter tops , islands and peninsulas in my last 3 home builds. There is a diamond wheel , 40 grit, it cuts real fast through the top cream and aggregate 2 days later. If I don't wait atleast that amount of time, the aggregate and small sand will pull from the concrete and cause big gouges. Crazy glue and scotch tape fill the small imperfections in counter tops with scotch tape over, once sealed looks like glass. Portland and epoxy work too.for you folks who wondered.. there are products already to use also in the Mason section in big box blue and orange.
      Anywhoo,
      SO
      I'm going to polish the landing with just the 40 grit and have it all flat and aggregate showing. I want to add white marble, alabaster & clear quartz for the aggregate. I thought about slippery but 40 leaves it pretty rough but smooth. It's coarse but smooth... strange to explain
      mix my own concrete because its just me and i work at my own pace.. no one chasing me..after it's grinded down with water I think it'll look excellent.. yeah, my way of forming up may be different from yours but, it'll come out nice.i always add an over hang to the footings for steps...come to think of it, i never have an issue pulling the forms because the boards are on the outside and the footing is already dry and in the ground. With soil pulled back or no up to finish grade..its like a stemwall? Here we have to do footings for everything if your going to build on it railing and such.. plus when water comes and it does, you don't want your base dirt to wash out from under the steps. I'm thinking I will do big landing off the house landing, #1, then like a hop scotch design one left one right 60/40.. to grade.. I'm thinking like 3 max.. and in each direction of the front of home.., got them wheels smoking..after a long day of framing...lol
      when I get ready to form up, I'll post the video...I just started posting here so family and friends can see what uncle Joe is up to. Thanks.. catch you soon..

    I seriously have to disagree with Anthony on working for yourself...... I did it and it's not a piece of cake not everyone out there is an Anthony I worked twice as hard and got paid little money, and I put up front the cost of the equipment with no money and no contract, speak of risk..... After that experience I came out with a bitter taste in my mouth, but it wasn't for nothing I realize those who stay it's because they control their jobs so they run no risk while you run all the risk of the cost of the equipment and the insurance, there's a lot more to start a business that Anthony is not saying with all the respect to my brother Anthony...... I'm just a guy who calls it like he sees it
