if you are hunting you can kill birds with pallets because they can easily go to skin like a bird BUT if you are enjoyer who loves to shoot and have pistol bb is better(for jars for bottles) the big difference is pistol or rifle pistol=bb rifle=pallet
They are better. Pellets are meant to expand when they enter flesh, making wounds larger. Bbs aren't. Bbs are only good against hard surfaces. But against flesh, they are less effective. For hunting, it's best to use pellets since they expand. For destroying random stuff, it's best to use bbs. For plicking, either is fine.
@@valak125 bbs are only good for destroying stuff. The downside is that they ricochet and can cause damage to other things if they bounce back. It's a good thing that pellets smash on impact since they don't bounce back.
using pellets in a BB gun will always favour the BB over the pellet (well most times anyway) BUT ! If you was to chronograph the pellet performance in a pellet gun then you'll be surprised at the results ! BBs have great penetrative effect whereas the pellets deform on impact to impart their force (joules) to the target, thats why your pellets landed not far from the jar, they had given virtually all their energy over to the target on impact whereas BBs retain they're energy when they bounce off of hard targets, admittedly they can penetrate a glass bottle close up and smash it but they lose that energy over distance far more than a pellet does. You should've fired some of your 6mm plastic BBs at the glass jar, I would've loved to have heard you swearing out loud as the ricochets come bouncing back. The penetrative power you speak about is nothing more than the material the projectiles are made of, you need to try some non-lead (tin) pellets, they weigh about the same as BBs, are pointed and will smash a glass jar just as readily as any BB will. All you proved was that steel is stronger than glass, doesn't take a genius to work that one out buddy !
That was a very clear explanation. Thank you for that. Question: I was under the impression that the finish of Dan Wesson guns were very smooth and polished looking, but the one you are using is quite the opposite. The finish is very rough. Are they all like that? I ask because what I have seen in your other videos show that the finish is rather smooth and polished. Why the discrepancy?
Thank you And this revolver is is a colt python that i painted myself because you cant buy it in chrome anymore i also have a video were i show you how to do it
Interesting, thanks for explaining why plain lead is less effective than steel. With higher energy levels it doesn’t matter; hence the .357 still penetrates. I am wondering now how effective the .177 hornet pellets are now since they have the steel tip. 🤔
the steel BBs might seems more effective on hard targets like a glass jar, but the pellets are much more effective on softer tissue, having tested this I can much more easily kill mice with pellets than steel bbs, I have also been shot by both and the pellets hurt more and caused me to bleed whereas steel BBs were really not that bad and just left some bruising...
@@GrumpyTinashe it was only a pistol shooting at about 3-4Joules, that was still enough to break my skin and make me bleed with pellets. Obviously I haven't tried with my rifle that shoots 900-1000fps and closer to 30-40J, that thing would definitely go deep and fuck me up lmao
@@ggcpf2874 You made me laugh bro. I just recently bought an Artemis rifle in South Africa and does 900fps so I want to know how powerful is it I want to use it for hunting you see but I'm struggling to sight the scope on my own and going to buy a shooting tripod and learn from TH-cam 😎
@@GrumpyTinashe these air rifles are quite powerful I'll tell you that! I use it to take down pests with it, mostly small rodents like rats and the like and I've took down quite a few pigeons since they're considered a pest and are overpopulated here at the moment, they usually drop instantly even at large distances, mind you I'm shooting 22cal pellets so these pack a bigger punch than the 177 ones. Sighting your scope I recommend setting up a target at a known distance, keep your zoom the same throughout the whole test and the rifle steady, take shots and if it's shooting too low you just adjust a few clicks up, same for windage. Rinse and repeat until you have a decent grouping. After that you just need to keep in mind where you are zeroed so that you can compensate your shots if needed in case the target is closer/farther away and even for angle, say if you're shooting up to a roof to get a bird or something you'd likely have to compensate by aiming slightly below where you wish to hit, the opposite goes if you're shooting at a down angle... There's plenty of tutorials on TH-cam about it tho
01:30 Now I'm a bit confused. I thought the FPS on guns used it because they were shooting on video and that's why they were referring to Frames per Second, like in videogames and other forms of video. But now you say that FPS is FEET per second... does that equate to the same thing as frames per second or are they completely different things? That lends itself to confusion, they should have looked for another acronym.
Yeah it's always been a measure of distance pellet or bullet covers in 1 second. It's the same for real guns where an average 22lr shoots about 1200fps
of course pellet are more accurate since your dan weston didn't had rifling the speed and accuracy both were effected. I like bb they are cheaper and convenient but than they are hazard as they bounce around.
I agree! The rifled barrel will also cause the pellet to spin so the velocity should be higher and travel further! Very interesting information from you.
I use umarex bb Because Its the only one that my store has. Pellets is something you will need to find out for yourself Like i said in the video its different for every person gun shape and brand
Using steel BB's is a mistake. Steel is stronger that what most airsoft barrels are made of which is brass. I got my Dan Wesson 715 barrel ruined (dented and scratched) after a few hundred shots or so. Edit: If you want to shoot steel BBs then I suggest you use a proper airgun instead
Could someone with knowledge please help me I bought an Artemis Sr 1000 rifle out here in South Africa. What I want to know is how does it compare to other modern spring breaker rifles? It claims 900fps and 19 joules. It's 45mm/177 Is that powerful? Thanks
@@HappyDude1he could learn that higher fps doesnt always mean higher joules. Your video is evidence that 360 fps can hit harder than 400. The laws hes made are severely weird and dont make much sense.
The difference in Joules is so small as to be of zero consequence if they were the same projectile. 😀 The difference in the projectiles size, shape and density make the Joules almost completely meaningless. I would rather take a 6mm 3 Joule plastic BB shot on the tummy at 10 m than a .22 Lead pellet at 3 Joules.

Thx and Lots of people think that. But they are only better when you use them with a high powered air rifle

They are to heavy for a co2 revolver. So the first 6 shots will break glass
That pellets deforms absorbing energy makes them less bouncy. Safer for everyone around.
