  • Hello, friends & neighbours. You've been telling me there's not a whole lot of groove-based lessons for bass here on the TH-cams. So I'm going to try to do my part in taking care of that. Today we're talking about the swung 16th-note subdivision. I'll break this subdivision down and show you an exercise that is sure to get you deeper into the groove! You dig?!
    LET'S TAKE IT TO THE BASS!

    That was cool. It is a good exercise for me.I need to work that hand and my rhythm. I've been missing strings and falling out of time.Just started. It's fun. I've been concentrating on the fret hand( with good reason).I'm glad your channel is growing. You deserve it.

    I always appreciate the way you break things down, Rich, you have a knack for taking material I think I know plenty about and giving me those "ahhh" moments where I look at something just a little bit better. Ya know, lots of classic metal is really swing grooves with the BPM and distortion cranked up. If you can make it swing you can make it rock. Good stuff as always sir.

    Is the swong 16th note rhyth like calypso or soca rhythm ?

  • @jackhunt9725
    @jackhunt9725 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    i was wondering, looking at your technique... do you always play with your right wrist at the same angle, or do you switch it up based on the style you are playing? The reason I ask is because I had a teacher who was particular about keeping a straight right wrist to allow full ease of finger movement. But i see professional bass players such as yourself playing with their wrists at an angle a lot. Does it wear out quicker? Do you get a different tone based on the angle? Just curious... cool channel 👍

    I’m a drummer learning bass. Keeping a rhythm with 16th notes isn’t the issue. The issue is keeping the sound consistent between two fingers. So what I mean is that the note sounds a bit different between my index and middle finger. How do you fix this?
