Well made ! No water change is a trend now these years and i think it will stay that way, like you said, stability is the main reason why coral are happy. But something i prefer with this method, it still doing a tiny bit of water change just to remove stuff that is not absorbe/use/cumulate overtime, specialy when you start this method.
Ya totally agree it will surely be the future. Also agree with you on doing a tiny bit to siphon. The gyre does a great job or really lifting it up and keeping it suspended :)
I have been running my 500 litre (130 US gallon) bow fronted mixed reef for nearly 5 years without a water change, obviously RODI top off, but dose heavily with many many elements, we are lucky here in the UK to have access to Salifert (a major German engineered brand of all major and minor trace elements that are lab grade or above) and added with minor A and K trace elements from Tropic Marin, I have manged to sustain a very healthy and thriving tank over the years, I must add though as you clearly pointed out flow and water movement is key, I have 2 EcoTech MP40's (the old ones too, not the quite drive) and 130 litre sump running a UV, 2 reactors with Rowaphos and RowaCarbon, a skimmer rated for a 1000 litres and cheato (lighting for 10 hours a day) in the middle of my sump, a 100% no water change is possible, but when you think that a 23kg bucket of quality salt (Red Sea, D&D, Kent) here in the UK costs upwards of £70 and would only make approx 700 litres of salt water, yet my additives cost approx £200 but lasts over 6 months!!
After watching your video, I got a Cadlights PS50 Elite II. Took a bit of fine tuning to get skimmate correct and eliminate microbubbles, but I really like it now! Very well made!
Was doing water change every week, sending tank into a mini cycle. Now dosing and test reaching 1 month no water change. I'm excited. I love water changes but it was killing my tank. I test daily to check it. Run biopellets and dose. Still learning the method. Going to put a hob in tank cheeto to remove left over and feed my yellow tang. With biopellets eminated nopox dosing.
Wow man, this was such a helpful video for me. Would you be able to run down some of the numbers like how much it cost monthly with chemicals and everything to maintain your tank? Beautiful tank by the way man, inside and out. I dream of having a tank like that one day...
Nicolas VanLaanen ya I will do a video on that for sure. Honestly you can have a tank just like it if not better. All corals want is a consistent number. Hopefully I earned your sub🤙🏼🖤
Your reef tank looks amazing mate, but you forgot to mention one really important puzzle piece in your success, namely the macro algae you're growing in your display tank ;) What is it you're growing there? Great content, SUBBED !
Reefahholic no3 has been 0 for a while. Chaeto reactor is finally handling the full load. So much that I am going to start adding fish to add more nitrates hopefull :) either that or try dialing it down as nopox has slowly been taking off. No4 is maintained at 0.003-0.03
I haven't done a water change since I set up my tank and its been way over a year! Mine is going really well to! Water changes are optional if you keep your dosing correct and remove phosphates and nitrates! I use cheato with my sump light on 24/7!
Bobby Boy Not too much algae. Chaeto sucks up the nutrients. I have to actually add nitrate into the system daily. I should really take some of my chaeto out.
i kept a 40 reef with mix and sps with no water changes for 3 years. i used chaeto in a HOB Refugium and added magnesium too 1400ppm. topped off water with RO.
@@davidmurphy4672 salinity doesnt drop. Salt has a very very high evaporation temperature so it tends to stay almost infinitely in your tank. Water evaporates tho, becoming more concentrated over time and thus determines the salinity of the water. This is why an ato is recommended, because it keeps the water level stable and elliminates the fluctuations in salinity.
@@davidmurphy4672 then you must have had a leak or an overflow or something, because normally its impossible for the salinity to drop like that. Maybe you run your protein skimmer to wet? The only way salinity can drop in a reef tank is if the water is diluted or saltwater gets out of the tank and then gets replaced with ro/di water from ato and dilutes the water. Salinity might slowly rise if you are using 2 part because the ions of the sodium from the sodium carbonate and the chloride of the calcium chloride bind together and form salt. You can easily correct this by topping of some water.
Really beautiful tank man geez. Keep it up! I have a question for you. I recently got a Jebao doser like you have. I couldn’t figure out for the life of me how to run hard RO tubing even tho I wanted to. How do you attach it to the doser itself? Do you just shove it on really hard? It wouldn’t stay good if I did that. Or do you have some kind of adapter I don’t see?
Hi! When you say to use "RO" line on your dosing pump are you referring to the tubing inside the rollers? And if so where exactly can I find "RO" line?? Thanks and great job on your setup!!
Congrats on your beautiful reef. I have adopted the no water changes approach over a year ago on my 50 gallon reef. I have been manually dosing Alk, Ca, Mg, Red Sea colors ABCD, strontium and NOPOX. However I am having second thoughts just bc any high end salt contains a bunch of different elements that are not included in Red Sea colors, (e.g. strontium). I still don't do any water changes due to time constraints and just being lazy in my free time but I am starting to get concerned. What are your thoughts on that? You think we are replenishing everything by dosing? Keep up inspiring us, already subbed 😎
George Kazas thanks for the sub really appreciate it. As far as the no water change approach you seem you are doing well. Also if corals are responding well then there is no problem. Ultimately a triton ICP test is your best bet to tell you if you are on track.
I think I watched every video on your channel and I love your reef. Thank you so much for all the valuable information. I just have a question regarding NoPox. People say that in a system with no water changes, NoPox causes molybdenum to accumulate to a point that some corals will not responde well. But your system is looking fantastic, so I don't think you have an issue. Did you do an ICP recently? Just out of curiosity... :) Keep up the great work and thanks again for your videos.
traian boala thanks so much for the kind words! Honestly I have had no Issues to what I can see with corals. I have noticed overtime I am dozing less and less nopox which I think is from the Chaeto able to export the nutrients faster. I have not done an icp but plan on doing one soon

I know this video was ages ago, but I had a question! I have a 10 gallon SPS dominated tank with a 205GPH HOB filter. would you recommend adding a wavemaker to increase flow?
What happened to those fish poop which have been trapped within the narrow holes, that will not be removed with any method besides water change or vaccumn cleaner, does coral eat fish poop, please elaborate,i m very much confused about what to do about the fish poop when you have densely populated tank like this? Thanks in advance.
b48758496 I honestly never noticed the salt creep up. I did notice it once pop up but it was easily addressed with removing 2 cups of salt and the auto top off added RODI
Awesome tank. Great video. I really love your tank. The colours are really popping on your corals. Are you running Radion Lights? Could you tell us a bit about the lighting programme you are using. Thanks again. Keep up the good work. sub'd : )
Pretty amazing tank and system. Would love to get to this with a 100-120 gallon system. Chock full of corals. Do you know how many pieces? How many fish? How many and types of inverts etc?
ATF intheHouse hello and thanks for the comment. Don’t quite understand your comment what are you referring to? How many corals and fish can you add to a 120?
I know this is an old video but I can I ask what is the brand and model of the chaeto reactor that you have hanging on the back of your tank? You may have indicated or mentioned but I think I missed it.
Howie Doin I would say dosing is less work. It may be cheaper to dose than just doing water changes. And yes water changes do replenish trace elements in a balanced form.
How much of the Red Sea colors are you dosing? I’m doing 1ml of each once a week. My tank consumes about 11ml of cal daily and 10ml of alk daily on a doser.. should I add more reef colors? My Acro colors aren’t popping as much
Is it worth the money to convert my 30 gal to this type of system, i’m pretty occupied so I have very little time to work on my tank and it’s somewhat neglected now. Do you have a link to that doser? Thanks and i subbed
alex .asian honestly changing the system to no water changes takes time at the beginning and a lot of testing. It may be pricey at first but worth it in the long run. Go on amazon and search DP-4 Jebao doser. I have videos here showing how to program ;)
Are you still using the a b and c by Red Sea? If so what is your thoughts on it is it worth buying to color up the corals extra? Thinking about trying it
So if people claim that they do not do any water changes, then how do they keep the tank clean, I did not see any dust or dirt, so I do not believe this. The sand or the gravel will get loaded up with used up materials and settle and accumulate and the tank will get dirty looking. You have to do water changes to just clean the tank sometimes.
Thanks for the video - I'm in the process of setting up a new "nano with no water changes" but its not quite there yet - few more months before its fully automated.
NATAL B REEFING I honesty wouldn’t even try a nano the sumps are so small it makes it hard to hide stuff. Honestly anything under a 15 is way easier with water ch ages as they need so little
EAT SLEEP Reef yeah I know. The mini reef 120 I have had a tiny sump. But I’ve got some stuff in there so it’s working ok for now. I’m not sure if I was 100% honest with the word “nano” is 30gallons a nano? Check out some of the videos on my channel and give your suggestions if you have time. 👍🏾👍🏾
Hi..i repair you have your Sand dirty in some locations in this point.you know why this hapen to you?you did something to fix it???i would love hear your opinion because mine is like that now,and i dont know why.regards
Hello EAT SLEEP Reef, first of all amazing and beautiful tank all around I hope you can help me with this question, on a monthly basis using all the process you are making how much is it financially? Please if you don’t want to answer I will understand, I just want to have an idea pretty much how is going to be if I decide to do what you are doing thank you and again I love your tank.
One of the most beautiful tanks I have seen between all nano tank reef youtubers well done and thank you
Nanthus Van Der Lely that a very generous comment and I really appreciate it. Hopefully I have earned your SUB 🤙🏼🖤

It’s all about results. If your coral is looking good and the water parameters are too, then that’s all that matters.
I gotta say, you got that tank looking good. Nice work! 👍💯
Reefahholic thanks appreciate it :)
EAT SLEEP Reef - What levels are you targeting for NO3 / PO4?? Looks like the tank is enjoying it.

what do you dose which animals keep your tank clean with what do you clean the tank yourself which technique do you use in your sump or filter mitt

Amazing tank. Very nice. Does anyone know what lights he is running?
Absolutely stunning! How many gallons is that?
Thank you for the video .
Is the coral box doser accurate ?
I have their lights and the timers are very inaccurate.
tomas dx after calibrating have tested it and it’s always dead on. Glad you enjoyed the vid :)
EAT SLEEP Reef thank you . I was hesitant because of their lights. But I’ll try the pump out.
Do you use carbon 🤔 I didn't see you mention activated carbon what are your thoughts on carbon

I know this video was ages ago, but I had a question! I have a 10 gallon SPS dominated tank with a 205GPH HOB filter. would you recommend adding a wavemaker to increase flow?
If you think the flow is low, then add some more!
Hey im planning on buying the coralbox doser. Can you please make a quick vid showing how you used the ro tubing with it?!?!
Michael Sussman will do. It’s a simple as forcing it over the nipple and using coral glue to ensure it never comes off
Anyone else thinking that this tank belongs to Deadpool??? Lovely tank by the way :)

What a beautiful tank bro.
A wealth of knowledge in this video
Yohan Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video. What is the tank size ?
Sounds like you’re following the Triton Method but just doing it all on your own. Well done!
8654 Zulu Foxtrot kinda haha it’s my cheaper version of triton LOL
You still out there? We miss you.
Great video , thanks for sharing your tank setup
Jay Moodley glad you enjoyed it :)
Skimmer takes out some of the salt - how do you make up for drop in salinity?
Was it constant? You probably need to dial your skimmer down
Asked how many fish you have in the tank and what kinds of fish. Also how many and what types of other inverts? What types and numbers of corals?
Its 100 percent possible my uncle has done a water change for almost 2 years and everything is still spot on in the tank
How do you accomadate for the eleveted salinity caused by adding ca, mg, alk (assuming you are using balling salts) with no water changes?
b48758496 I honestly never noticed the salt creep up. I did notice it once pop up but it was easily addressed with removing 2 cups of salt and the auto top off added RODI
@@eatsleepreef9565 You have a realy nice tank. IMO you should keep track of it. Especially since it's not that large in volume.
@@eatsleepreef9565 what products do you use for kh, mg and ca?
If you keep magnesium at 1400 should you ever get salt creep? Isn't that the balling method's claim to fame? That's how Lou Ekus explains it.
It's really good instead of using triton method,we are the one that control import and export in our aquarium.
Awesome tank. Great video. I really love your tank. The colours are really popping on your corals. Are you running Radion Lights? Could you tell us a bit about the lighting programme you are using. Thanks again. Keep up the good work. sub'd : )

Howie Doin I would say dosing is less work. It may be cheaper to dose than just doing water changes. And yes water changes do replenish trace elements in a balanced form.
New to the channel I like your tank I run very similar dosing although not all automatic. How old is the tank?

How much of the Red Sea colors are you dosing? I’m doing 1ml of each once a week. My tank consumes about 11ml of cal daily and 10ml of alk daily on a doser.. should I add more reef colors? My Acro colors aren’t popping as much

Tonya Clark I use radions and use AB+ schedule
Is it worth the money to convert my 30 gal to this type of system, i’m pretty occupied so I have very little time to work on my tank and it’s somewhat neglected now. Do you have a link to that doser? Thanks and i subbed
alex .asian honestly changing the system to no water changes takes time at the beginning and a lot of testing. It may be pricey at first but worth it in the long run. Go on amazon and search DP-4 Jebao doser. I have videos here showing how to program ;)
EAT SLEEP Reef alright i got 2 on the way, thanks man
Nice video. You explained things perfectly.
Jeff’s Reef Tank thanks glad you enjoyed it ;)

What kind of protein skimmer you have ? I have same tank.
Is that red on the substrate Cyano?
Are you still using the a b and c by Red Sea? If so what is your thoughts on it is it worth buying to color up the corals extra? Thinking about trying it
In video you show other skimmer and in description you mentioned other
How many wave makers do you have, also thanks for the advice about water changes
How are you running GFO in th at reactor? I could not get the flow low enough to keep it from dusting..
What’s that algae on your sand bed? I have the same stuff and can’t get rid of it
What if you have and all in one tank with no sump, red seas 130d??
I haven’t done a water change in 18 months. Why would I change my water when I spent so much time scrubbing and dosing to get it pristine.
What kind of wave makers are you using?
Great colors and no water changes
plootsa thanks :)
What did you use for your chaeto reactor, I’ve searched endlessly I haven’t seen anything like that one.
I know! 😩
What about tropical fish tank
So if people claim that they do not do any water changes, then how do they keep the tank clean, I did not see any dust or dirt, so I do not believe this. The sand or the gravel will get loaded up with used up materials and settle and accumulate and the tank will get dirty looking. You have to do water changes to just clean the tank sometimes.
Your tank is beautiful. 👍
what wave maker is that and would you recommend one for a 5 gallon ive tried to find a good one everywhere and can't seem to find one, thanks!
5 gallon is much too small for a wavemaker!
great tank! thanks for sharing
with all the feeding do u run chemi blue as i do should i run my skimmer...?
Do you have a sump and skimmer

Hello EAT SLEEP Reef, first of all amazing and beautiful tank all around I hope you can help me with this question, on a monthly basis using all the process you are making how much is it financially?
Please if you don’t want to answer I will understand, I just want to have an idea pretty much how is going to be if I decide to do what you are doing thank you and again I love your tank.
Not too much the suplementos last months some even a year so the cost is no more than 200
Dosers is where it adds up though
The supplements are on a yearly basis on a cost of 200 or monthly?
Thank you for answering back!
How long has the tang been in the tank 7 months?
