    Would of been nice to have that discount code when I ordered my coil pack kit from RIPP two weeks ago! But I have the RIPP coil pack kit and the Trail Dash 2 for my 3.8L V6 and I gotta say both of those together make a huge difference. I definitely think they are worth the money. I have gotten better gas millage about 2 mpg on average and my JK actually can make some moves on the highway even though it's lifted.

    @JKgearandgadgets I'm loving the Ripp High Performance Coil Packs I installed on my JT! I installed mine right at 350 miles and I instantly noticed more torque right off the hop down low and also how it makes the engine shift smoother and hold the gears better, that's the most noticeable improvements. After putting about 1k miles on them I've gained approximately 2 MPG but that added torque down low right off the hop was the biggest difference. After adding 3.5" lift, 37" tires and aftermarket bumpers the Jeep was feeling like a street slug but adding a CAI, High Flow Exhaust and the Ripp Supercharger Coil Packs definitely helped alleviate it. Surely not a V8 swap but definitely made the Pentastar perform better.

Downside after 50,000 miles, I had to rebuild the transmission and put in mustang gears because they are tougher than stock Jeep parts. Overall plenty of power for the old dog engine!

    Thanks for the video. I bought the superchips flashpaq, just a quick anecdote as I did dyno my jeep both stock and on the 91 octane tune. The JK is a 2014, the pull was done in 4th gear, stock 4.10 gears, and 37“ Nitto‘s resulting (iirc) 175 hp and 200ftlbs @ the wheels, peak power did NOT go up but it did flatten out the power curve. Basically, 175 hp and 200 ftlbs from 2k through 5.5k rpm.

    If you guys remember those Tornado inserts. I put on of them on a 2003 Avalanche I had. At that time it was a new vehicle. It took several miles like a tank of gas or two maybe three for the computer to recognize it. It woke the truck up, I noticed this most when crushing at highway speeds. Before it would down shift when trying to accelerate even a little. Then after it was finally noticed by the computer I had more power at highway speeds for sure. My impression was that it “Woke The Truck Up” but again it took a while to be recognized, however once it did start to work there was no question about it working.

  • @87bjackson
    @87bjackson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    With the throttle spacer it's supposed to increase manifold pressure and giving the air to fuel mixture closer. Obviously with some types of manifolds it won't. The coils are going to make a little difference over the Mopar. The plug and play tuner will bring all of those together by changing the factory tune. I've used all of these and on my 17 jku with 3k miles. The BIGGEST difference is when you have your PCM unlocked, data log your engines performance on WOT and everyday driving. Then there's a company you can send your log to and they will take the data you provide and mesh them all together for maximum power. You can bolt everything in the world onto any computer controlled engine but the computer always limits. Loved the Video!

    • @808Turtle
      @808Turtle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the TD 2 because they offer the PCM swap for their unlocked PCM. This allows the TD2 on 2014 and later to get full benefits of the tuner. I also did gear for 40s and upgraded axles to CORE 44s with big brakes and manual hubs. It's been a great experience. I still run stock air cleaner, coils, new Champion 9407 Plugs and a aftermarket oil cooler/ oil filter housing. It's the all aluminum model. I get the same mpg as a stock Rubicon would get with stock everything but on 40s. Lol

    I swapped the RIPP coil packs in my 15' JK along with spark plugs and the RIPP cold air intake around 70,000 miles. Definitely noticed better throttle response and some small power gains. As for MPG, driving in town the MPG dropped slightly but highway driving I did notice the 1-2 MPG gain. The most noticeable MPG gain was present with more weight in my Jeep, this was from having a full passenger load, so I imagine pulling a smaller trailer the same gains could be seen.

  • @utopia.exploring
    @utopia.exploring 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    2013 JKU Freedom, 70,000 miles
    I installed my RIPP supercharger coil packs...and i LOVE THEM. Just like you, I didn't see a lot of extra power but i saw everything smooth out. I installed slightly more aggressive tires and saw my MPG drop. I went from around 18 mpg down to about 16.5 mpg. Installing these I went right back to around 18 mpg and i get MUCH smoother acceleration.
    I paired them with high performance plugs and even a high flow throttle body and i'm around 19 mpg now. I live in Colorado...and there are times where i can hit 21 mpg in the mountains!
    Overall, i was REAL happy with these

    • @utopia.exploring
      @utopia.exploring 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also notice much better power at altitude. Driving at 11,000 feet through passes , before the upgrade, I would notice the jeep was constantly shifting up and down and struggled. After the coil packs i definitely saw better performance at altitude. After the high flow throttle body...and plugs...altitude really isn't a problem at all!

    ive done dyno testing in the past with throttle body spacers with direct port injected engines and actually lost power only spacers that do add power is for engines with carbs or throttle bodies with injectors which helps with fuel adimization if you want some power use a tuner and also e3 spark plugs help and you can run higher octane with those plugs and to get rid of the rat use a mouse trap with either gummy bears or peanut butter used to be a exterminator

    My 2012 is on 35 inch tires and tows a RZR around, last summer I got sick of driving around in passing gear lol.
    So I had a shop put in 4.56 Yukon gears, cold air intake and the Superchips system, It had a banks can on the exhaust but not so much a performance thing.
    Bottom line is I am very VERY happy with the results. It is a pleasure to drive again and even towing doesn't put me on the edge of me seat with white knuckles during the hill climbs. I'm not dashing up mountains at 70mph (towing) but it's way better than 35mph and 4500+ rpms haha.
    If you have a newer Jeep and big tires with the 8speed transmission I hear they just walk along as they have more options to gear into. But for the older JK's, I for sure recommend gearing it to 4.56 at least. You can beat around the bush and spend the $375 for the Superchips flash system and a Cold Air intake but it'll still be lacking.

    What they should do is jet the throttle body air at the pnt of effect & atomizing effect & slight pressure increase effect on combustion that would hve an effect. by using the spacer room to put in some 2" sized openings down to 3/4" of opening. As many as u can get in the size of throttle body sq fits sq & oval fits best w/rounds. U don't need much even 2lbs of pressure & slight blast effect will hve measurable diff, mayb 40 hp. So a 4 or 5" sq should b able to hve 3 sq sized jet effect decreaser/boosters.. U hve a small length to work w/ so u hve to start big & restrict it down in tight length.

    Had a 98 tj put a chip and header on it it was the 2.5 I also had lockers and limited slip in the front gears so it flotas on sand

    When I first installed my Ripp Coils, I did feel a slight improvement. After just a few days, the computer made adjustments and it was driving like factory settings again. If there were lasting changes, there would have been a difference in MPG. There was no difference in MPG, better or worse.

  • @tjjones2907

    Interesting. If you run the coil packs and use the tuner for mileage, long term they should pay for themselves. If you get +2mpg from the coils, and +1 from the tuner, that’s 3 per gal, or 60 a tankful. So it’s like 3+ gallons per tankful. At $3 per gallon, saves $9 per tankful, so these mods will pay for themselves at roughly 100 tanks of gas. Call it 2 years. Plus the performance improvements. Sounds pretty good to me, I think I’ll put all three on my JK.

    Wow, I wonder what the manufacturers are saying? Especially on the Spacers. The Coil Pack & the Tuner, you should see a increase in Torque & Horsepower. Not one to say that your ready to race, a jeep? How about the gas mileage increase? Does it work in conjunction with other mods? So much to say but the ultimate test should be the Dyno? Yes/no?? Time will tell...

    I did the RIPP coil packs when my oil cooler broke and you have to take all that stuff off anyways. Plus the dealership will charge $300 for replacing one coil pack. So you can justify the buy to your wife by saying “I am not paying that! I will just buy the parts!” I did not run any analytics on a computer but it definitely feels like it is more aggressive in the acceleration.
    Side note… broke a bolt on the oil cooler and had to drill that out - don’t do that. Really sucks

    Hve u seen those glow plasm balls from 70/80s. They need to make the spark last a mico sec longer even if they hve to hve a capacitor & non capacitor duel fire spark system. Or below 2k rpm non boosted spark system refined smooth & above 2k rpm u get boosted sparking. . bc u want to stat n 2k to 2500k range w/trucks esp w/ 8 speeds as long as poss best performance & fuel range, thing semi. As soon as u get above 2k rpm the capacitor sparking system kicks in or bigger coils too.

    I want my platinum sp order rubicon truck jeep front grill to b billet aluminum not plastic. Hve the honey combs & the verticle slits r design feature in metal not actually there. But more important is bottom 1/2 of grill is straight up & down but then it angles back 30deg rake. So it will stick out more on mine in the front. Looking from the front it looks classicly the same key design as current. The bottom half is for airflow & upper prt is to decrease drag & also airflow. Much smoother thru air better than current air flow bc honey comb & grill is 1 piece not 2, & much more aero clean. Extra 5" forward of rake top half to clean up airflow.
